Great apartment to stay in Interlaken.

The location was perfect to explore Interlaken. Yes, the layout is a little unusual, but it’s absolutely fine for a few days. It’s spotless and very well equipped. It’s quiet, comfortable and not too warm. Loved staying there! Communication with Michèle was clear and easy.

The only thing I genuinely liked about this property was its location. Unfortunately, everything else was disappointing. What really surprised me was receiving a message the day before check-out reminding us that check-out was at 10:00 a.m., and asking us to wash the dishes and take the garbage outside. If I’m on vacation, the last thing I expect is to be doing household chores before leaving. It completely takes away from the experience of staying in a holiday rental. At that point, I was almost expecting to be asked to clean the entire apartment before checking out—which, thankfully, wasn’t the case. Overall, the stay did not meet my expectations.

The listing photos are extremely misleading and do not accurately represent the actual layout of the apartment. The biggest shock came when I entered the apartment. The kitchen, toilet, and shower are essentially all in the same open space, with no proper partition or door separating them. This was never made clear in the listing, and had I known the actual floor plan, I would never have booked this property. To give future guests an idea of the layout: as soon as you walk in, the shower cubicle is on the left. Directly ahead is the kitchenette, and right next to the shower is the toilet. Opposite the toilet are the refrigerator and microwave. Having the kitchen, where food is prepared and stored, in the same open area as the toilet is something I found extremely unhygienic and uncomfortable. Coming from an Indian background, where kitchens and toilets are always kept completely separate for hygiene and cultural reasons, this arrangement was particularly difficult for me to accept. I understand that different countries may have different architectural designs, but this layout should be clearly disclosed in the listing so guests can make an informed decision before booking. I managed to stay for three nights only because I had no practical alternative at that point, but it was an unpleasant experience throughout. The only positive aspect of the property was its location. Apart from that, the misleading photos, the poorly designed layout, and the overall experience left me very disappointed. I strongly recommend that the host upload accurate photos and a clear floor plan so future guests know exactly what they are booking. Transparency would prevent others from facing the same surprise and disappointment.

Good location - walking distance or short bus ride from Interlaken Ost Station. Comfortable bed.

Unusual layout - the shower and toilet were in the same room as the kitchen.
