About this house rental

Welcome to Shore House, a one-of-a-kind lakeside retreat originally built in 1922. Offering an experience that’s truly rare on Lake Sunapee, this expansive property boasts 300 feet of completely private, white sandy beach within steps of the house, and everything you need for the ultimate New Hampshire getaway. Beautiful 180-degree views across the Lake offer an ever-present and changing parade of waves, boaters, nature and weather. Situated on a quiet, unpaved road, you’re truly away from it all with ample parking for your entire group and plenty of space to breathe, relax, and unplug.

All-Season Lakefront Living

Spend long summer days swimming, relaxing on the beach, or exploring the lake in our provided kayak and canoe. The large lawn between the main house and the cottages gives kids plenty of open space to run and play. As the sun sets, gather around the fireplace or head out to the dock to watch the colors change over the lake. In the fall, explore our backwoods trails and autumn foliage. When winter arrives, those same trails become a playground for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, and downhill skiers can hit the slopes at nearby Mount Sunapee, just a 20-minute drive away.

The Main House: Historic Charm & Vintage Comfort

The heart of Shore House is a spacious main home designed for bringing people together. The kitchen features ample seating for group meals, complemented by a full, formal dining room. Period furniture, antiques, and wall libraries create a deep sense of comfort and permanence, while plenty of cozy couches and chairs invite you to curl up with a good book or video. (And while you’ll likely want to disconnect entirely, the property features reliable Wi-Fi if you need to tap back into reality!)

Just off the living space, the screened-in back porch is the perfect spot for summer meals, where you can enjoy sparkling lake vistas framed by native pines and birches. A gas grill sits just outside for easy outdoor cooking.
Six Main House Bedrooms (Second Floor)

At night, open the bedroom windows and fall asleep to the peaceful sound of the water gently lapping against the shore.

• The Primary Suite: Directly facing the water, this room features a king-size bed, private bathroom, and an adjacent bonus bedroom with a single twin bed—ideal for families with a young child.
• Bedroom 2: Also commanding beautiful lake views, featuring a comfortable king-size bed.
• Bedrooms 3 & 4: Two flexible rooms, each outfitted with two twin beds (which can easily be combined into a king-size bed upon request). Adjacent to a full BA, these two bedrooms can function as a single small family’s private “en-suite”.
• Bedroom 5: A cozy waterfront room with a single twin bed and amazing lake-view over the beach.
• Laundry Convenience: The second floor includes full laundry facilities, fully stocked with plenty of bath and beach towels to keep everyone dry.

Two Charming Standalone Cottages

Perfect for multi-generational families or groups seeking a bit of extra privacy, the property includes two guest houses:

• The 2-Bedroom Cottage: Ideal for a small family, the “Boys’ House” sleeps four. It includes a queen bedroom and a large combination sitting room/bedroom with bunk beds and plenty of space to relax. A full jack-n-jill bathroom with a shower and tub connects the two spaces; all fully heated in winter.

• The Romantic Beach House: A dreamy, seasonal cottage that sleeps two right near the shoreline. It features water views, a queen bed, and a small but functional full bathroom. Note: The Beach House is unheated and is closed during the winter months.

Year-Round Comfort & Atmosphere

During the winter months, the Main House stays cozy thanks to a classic kitchen wood stove, a stone fireplace in the living room, and reliable electric heating (which also heats the Boys’ House).

Whether you are using Shore House as a family fun vacation, peaceful sanctuary, or a convenient home base to explore the Lake Sunapee area, this historic property provides the ultimate setting for making lasting memories. Perfect for all ages, including the little ones!
