About this house rental
The space
Welcome to Harbor Island — a private, gated barrier island between historic Beaufort and Hunting Island State Park, where 2.5 miles of unspoiled sand are reserved for owners and their guests. No public parking lots, no crowds, no boardwalk hustle. Our updated 7-bedroom, 4-full and 2-half-bath Lowcountry home sits on Sand Dollar Court, a quiet cul-de-sac just 200 yards from the beach — a 2–3 minute walk and your toes are in the sand. Behind the house, expansive marsh and river views deliver the kind of grass-to-the-horizon sunsets that made us fall in love with the place.
A BEACH MADE FOR FAMILIES.
Harbor Island's beach faces calm, protected water that stays shallow a long way out — a gentle, gradual slope where little ones can splash and wade with sandy bottom underfoot, without the pounding surf of open-ocean beaches. And because the island is gated, with 24-hour security patrolling the neighborhood, the beach never feels crowded and parents can relax — even in peak season.
BUILT FOR KIDS (AND THE GROWN-UPS WHO BRING THEM).
Back at the house, the kids may never make it to bed: one bedroom is a full gaming room with a wall-mounted TV, Nintendo Switch with racing wheels, and oversized bean bag chairs; another kids' room has bunk beds (one with its own slide!) and a BRIO wooden train table stocked with trains. The garage is loaded with beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, sand toys, a beach wagon, and bikes — arrive with suitcases and nothing else. Out front, the cul-de-sac means no through traffic, so kids can ride bikes and draw chalk masterpieces in peace.
THE HOUSE.
Sleeping up to 17 across two floors, with covered parking, any-EV home charging, and porches everywhere you turn:
- 7 bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms (4 full — including a kids-friendly Jack-and-Jill upstairs — plus a half bath for day guests), sleeps 17
- Three en-suite bedrooms on the first floor — a king primary suite plus two queen suites, each with its own double-vanity bathroom. No stairs, no sharing: ideal for grandparents and multi-generational trips
- The king primary adds a jetted tub and private access to the screened porch
- Upstairs: a bedroom with two full beds, a bedroom with two twins, and two dedicated kids' rooms — the gaming room with two bunk beds plus a trundle, and the train room with its slide-equipped bunk
- Multiple porches (front, back, and screened) with rocking chairs and marsh/river sunset views
- Fully stocked, updated kitchen: new stainless French-door refrigerator, granite counters, air fryer, Keurig AND drip coffee makers, quality cookware — cook from night one
- Brand-new washer and dryer
- EV charging in the carport: Tesla Universal Wall Connector with built-in J1772 adapter fits every EV — the nearest Supercharger is ~45 minutes away in Yemassee, so a full battery every morning is a real luxury here
- Gas grill on the deck
- Outdoor shower with hot water — rinse off sandy feet (and sandy kids) in comfort
- Gigabit fiber internet — independently tested at 940+ Mbps down AND up — with whole-home WiFi 7 mesh coverage. Stream in every room, take video calls, game online; this is faster internet than most guests have at home
- Work-from-beach ready: desks in the primary suite and one queen bedroom
- Central A/C, smart thermostat, TVs in bedrooms
- Linens and bath towels provided
TWO HUNTING ISLAND PASSES INCLUDED — AND IT'S RIGHT THERE.
Hunting Island State Park, South Carolina's most-visited state park, is our next-door neighbor: the park entrance is barely 2 miles from the driveway, about a 5-minute drive across Johnson Creek. We provide two vehicle passes, so you can climb the historic lighthouse, fish the pier stretching into Fripp Inlet, or wander 5,000 acres of maritime forest and lagoon as often as you like — the passes stay in the house, the memories go home with you.
HARBOR ISLAND AMENITIES.
Your stay includes access to the island's Beach & Racquet Club:
- Olympic-size pool overlooking the marsh, plus a kiddie pool (open April–October)
- Tennis and pickleball courts
- Fitness center
- Basketball court, sand volleyball, playground, putting green, shuffleboard, horseshoes
- Seasonal shop with bike rentals, snacks, and ice cream
- Fishing and crabbing spots along the island's docks and boardwalks
The community pool, tennis courts, and other outdoor amenities are free for our guests to use, and no key card or special pass is required. The only amenity with restricted access is the gym, which uses a passcode. We'll provide that passcode after you check in.
