🏔️ I help manage a handful of cabins around the Pikes Peak region, so I know this area well. Ask me what's worth doing, and I'll give you a straight answer, not a brochure.
🔑 Check-in is by door code. I'll send it the morning you arrive.
⚡ I'm usually quick to respond on Airbnb messaging. If something's wrong, tell me early, and I'll fix it.
📖 The house manual covers everything you need:
🔥 How to run the fireplace
🛁 Hot tub instructions
📶 WiFi login
🗑️ Where trash goes and why it stays inside overnight
🐕 Bringing dogs? Message me before you book so we're on the same page about the yard and the house rules.
💬 Reach out any time during your stay. I'd rather hear about a problem than read about it in a review.
Divide is a working mountain town west of Colorado Springs, where Highway 24 meets the road to Cripple Creek. No ski village, no boutique shopping. What's here is a good burger joint, a brewery with a patio, and the west face of Pikes Peak. Sherwood Forest is a quiet residential pocket a few minutes off the highway, trees and space without a long drive to a gallon of milk.
👉 Local Scene
🍔 Russ's Place, a Divide institution. Local beef, live music, regulars who've been coming for years.
🍺 Paradox Beer Company, sour ales and a dog-friendly patio.
☕ Woodland Park, 20 min east, for coffee shops and the BierWerks rooftop with Pikes Peak views.
👉 Close-By Towns
🏘️ Woodland Park (20 min): groceries, restaurants, hospital, golf.
🏘️ Cripple Creek (30 min): casinos, gold mine tours, Victorian downtown.
🏘️ Colorado Springs (50 min): Garden of the Gods, the zoo, full city.
🚗 Summer: a regular car is fine.
🛣️ Winter (October–May): AWD or 4WD strongly recommended. The last 0.3 miles is gravel and holds snow after the paved roads clear. Carry chains if unequipped.
🅿️ Gravel driveway fits 4-6 vehicles, no street parking.
🛒 10 min: Divide, for the basics.
🛍️ 20 min: Woodland Park, for a full grocery run (Walmart, Safeway, City Market, Natural Grocers).
⛰️ Elevation: 9,000 ft. Coming from sea level, expect a possible headache, a restless first night, or shortness of breath on the stairs. Drink more water than feels necessary and skip the big hike on day one.
🏘️ Not fully secluded: This is a residential neighborhood, not a remote cabin in the woods. Homes are nearby. You may hear a dog bark or kids playing next door. Quiet hours are 10 PM to 7 AM, and it's peaceful, but don't expect total isolation.
🛣️ Road access: Paved the whole way except the last 0.3 miles, which is gravel with a short hill into the driveway. A regular car is fine in summer. From October through May, AWD or 4WD is strongly recommended. Carry chains if your vehicle isn't equipped.
🌡️ No central air: There's a window AC unit in the living room, but the bedrooms rely on ceiling fans. Nights cool off fast at this elevation.
📱 Cell service works here, but coverage varies by carrier. WiFi is available throughout.
🐻 Wildlife: Bears are active in the area, especially before winter. All trash goes in the locked, bear-proof bins out front, never left loose outside or in a vehicle.
🐾 Dogs: Two dogs max, up to 75 lbs each. Part of the yard is fenced for off-leash time; the rest is not, so leash up outside the fence.
👥 Capacity: Four guests maximum. This isn't flexible; it's what the septic and the space can handle.
