Cozy and Quiet on Jamaica Beach

We have travelled to the texas coast for over 30 years and this is by far our favorite location. A quiet neighborhood with great views and easy access to the beach. The home is only two bedroom but being the first year we've travelled without children, it was one bedroom too many. I highly recommend this beach cottage. It's the kind of home i would own.

The water heater had a small leak that was spraying when we arrived. I contacted Vacasa immediately but I had to call them back and text them several times

overall nice place

Good location , nice deck, had a washer and dryer and plenty of spices. plenty of towels , bedding and everything you could want in a kitchen.

the vents in the living room are very dirty and also the ceiling beams. the smoke alarm in one of the bedrooms was laying on the kitchen counter with no battery. Another alarm kept beeping all the time. the loft area could use new furniture and not safe because of the light fixtures that did not have a shield over the bulbs and wiring.

Not as relaxing as we'd hoped.

The location is great. The parking is good. The washer, dryer, and dishwasher functioned. The overhead fans were great. It's lovely to be able to bring dogs. I appreciated the Vacasa customer service rep's regular communication and partial refund given the problems with the property described below.

This property is in a poor state of repair. The power went off for four hours on the first day because the owners had failed to pay their bill. The lock on the door was broken and was not fixed throughout our visit so one of us had to be at home constantly--this was especially problematic when there was no power in the Texas summer. I appreciate the rep telling us that it was a safe neighborhood and we could go out leaving the property unlocked. But I think that Vacasa, the owners and our own insurers would not have seen things this way had there been an intruder. The downstairs toilet is broken . At this point, the other small problems with the property start to be irritating. There are inadequate railings on the outdoor stairs and no safety gate for children or pets. The tap in the bathtub drips constantly. The lockbox needs oiling. The bathtub wasn't clean when we arrived. There was food in the cracks of the sofa (including nuts, discovered by our curious toddler) and plenty of crud under the beds (again, our kid was thrilled). The owners let family store stuff downstairs. It's not a big deal but it does mean you have seemingly random, though very friendly, people showing up without warning while you're there.

We enjoyed our stay here and would consider renting again.

It is advertised that the house had satellite tv but the choices were extremely limited. About the same as you would get with an antenna. The futon beds upstairs were in poor condition and had small bugs.

Passable

The house was very clean,

the lock box was very hard to open I had to call for assistance, then the bottom floor bedroom door would not open owner had to be called, they had to call a locksmith to come out and fix/replace he lock. the up stair door opened fine. although it was cold and windy the circuit breaker for the heating unit tripped 5 times, making it very cold in the house

Will definitely let others know about the place!

We loved the view of the ocean, spacious and open concept! Fit what we were needing!

Master bedroom got a little warm at night other than that it was good.

A GOOD PLACE FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS, SO A WEEK OR SO WILL BE EXCELLENT IN THE FUTURE.

THE LOCATION WAS VERY GOOD. THE ATMOSPHERE INSIDE OF HOUSE WAS GREAT. THE UPPER DECK AREA WAS SPACIOUS AND CLEAN AND WELL EQUIPPED WITH TABLE AND CHAIRS. SHORT DISTANCE TO WALK TO BEACH WAS REALLY GOOD.

INSECTS / SMALL BLACK MITES WHERE ALONG THE EDGE OF BATHROOM WALL AND SINK. ALSO, ALONG THE SHELF UNDER THE TV. THE OUTSIDE TRASH BIN HAD BEEN PICKED UP, SO I PUT A BAG IN THE BIN AND THERE WAS A VERY STRONG GAGGING STINCH THAT WOULDN'T STOP.
