The location is good and it seems the owner is taking advantage of this to skimp on everything else. This is a room in a larger apartment; the living room is lovely, with antique furniture, but not really a place where one would hang-out.
The kitchen seems like a garage sale of appliances; however, nothing works! Multiple coffee machines but no coffee or coffee filters, not even instant coffee! The bedroom only has a bed, TV, and a cupboard falling apart and dirty on the inside. The windows cannot be closed and the window AC unit is so loud you can only turn it on when you leave the room. The sheets were stained, thin, and ratty and the "king size" bed is actually two twin beds pushed together (and one can feel the gap in the middle!). The blanket has probably not been washed in a while. There was no shampoo, conditioner, or hair-dryer in the bathroom. And worst of all: the fine print (if it was there) apparently said that there would be a $100 charge for arrivals after 5pm. And all you get is an e-mail around 4pm saying your stay will be $100 more if you don't get there ASAP. Sorry, but this is ridiculous. In sum, this property owner, with a little effort and care, could offer a much better stay.
