Assos is one of the most spectacular settings in the Ionian, and this stone built villa, on the hillside above the harbour has been thoughtfully designed to make the most of the truly panoramic setting. The master double bedroom with en-suite and the comfortable living room are situated at the front and open onto the paved terrace with its infinity pool. Inside or out the view across the sheltered harbour to the wooded slopes of the peninsula and the fortress beyond is exceptional. This villa certainly merits its name! A twin bedroom, also with en-suite bathroom and a well-equipped kitchen area complete the accommodation. A warm welcome with Greek products from AssosView villas: Our welcome pack consists of: A bottle of water, homemade liquor, local wine, beer, Greek juice, milk, bread for toast, toasters, Greek biscuits, marmalade, honey, butter, tea, sugar, ingredients to make your own Greek salad(tomatoes, onion, olives, oregano, Kefalonian mizithra cheese), sponge and soap for dishes, tablets for dishwasher, tablets for mosquitoes and toilet paper. Behind the house a quiet lane leads in a few minutes down to the centre of the village with its old world charm shaded by ancient plane trees, and waterfront tavernas. Nothing in Assos is overstated; this is a traditional Ionian fishing village that has retained its charm. The village lies at the heart of the spectacular cliffs of the west coast of Kefalonia, and in Venetian times would have been a remote outpost accessible only by a steep mule trail winding up the hillside. The trail itself starts just behind the village and a few minutes’ walk reveals one of the most spectacular views in western Greece, and incredible sunsets! Assos, despite its enviable end-of-the-world location is far from remote. The famous Myrtos beach is only a 10 minute drive away and the picturesque port of Fiskardo and Agia Efimia are a short drive away.

This was a special holiday for me because I was bringing my two lovely grownup daughters with me to make happy memories. We had the most wonderful week in this beautiful villa. The infinity pool was amazing, we spent a lot of time in the pool just gazing at the gorgeous scenery. The villa provided us with everything we needed and more. The peace and tranquility was so relaxing, it was perfect. The village is just a 5 minute walk where there is a couple of mini markets and several tavernas all very good and everyone is so friendly. We can’t wait to come back again. Val, Rachael and Rebecca.

Assos View

Assos View

We stayed in Assos View villas which as the name suggests had a stunning view over the bay of Assos. The villa was only a short walk from the village square and as such the location was perfect. Our host, Christos, could not have been more helpful. He even waited up until 2.00 am to greet us after our delayed flight and when we had a problem with the air conditioning he was on hand to sort it out. The village of Assos is quaint with only 3 restaurants and a lively cafe in the village centre which is right on the pebble beach. The sea there is calm and the waters warm and safe which was just right for us to swim in with our 14 month old granddaughter. There is a pleasant but uphill climb of about 2km up to the castle where the views from the top are stunning and worth the effort, especially at sunset. If you are travelling to Assos I suggest you book transport from the airport rather than hire a car and drive yourself as the mountain roads can be hazardous especially for those who do not like heights. But that is why Assos remains the quiet oasis of calm because it is a 1 hour journey from the airport and consequently much less commercialised than the resorts such as Lassi. Those who visit Assos come for the views and the relative calm. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. as my wife said - " I think I have died and gone to heaven"
