About this cottage rental
Situated in Fairview, this charming cottage for $375 per night is a great choice for your next vacation. The Cottage at Wintersun is a 4br/3b 2000sf beautifully decorated home located on the 130 acre Wintersun Estate in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina, and only 20 minutes from the vibrant and exciting city of Asheville, NC and the Biltmore Estate. For disc golf lovers the house is surrounded by two private disc golf courses so you can play-in and play-out right from your front yard. The disc golf courses have been rated in the top percentage of private courses on the east coast and they are absolutely private, no other players! The short course (11 holes) can be played in 1 hour, while the long course (18 holes) takes about 3 hours and has 4 miles of fairways. For hikers and walkers you have access to 4 miles of beautiful private hiking trails on the 130 acre Wintersun Estate with beautiful mountain views and much flora and fauna. Inside the Cottage the upstairs living room has a gas log fireplace and TV with a large comfortable sofa and chairs. There are 3 bed rooms upstairs and 2 baths. Two bedrooms have twin beds while the third has a queen bed and ensuite bath. All linens are supplied. The kitchen is completely furnished with cooking utensils, coffee maker, microwave, stove, 2 ovens, refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, flat ware, plates, glassware, serving platters, cookware, and pots and pans. There is also a washer and dryer. The downstairs family room has a large screen TV with a large sofa and leather chairs and a kitchenette with a stove and refrigerator for beverages and snacks. There is one bedroom downstairs with a king bed and a full bath. linens supplied. The downstairs dining room is decorated with an antique table and can seat 8 comfortably. Off of the family room there is a large outside patio with a gas fire pit and comfortable seating. Guests have access to a trout stream that runs through the estate for fly fishing May-February. A fishing license is required and can be obtained at most Wal-Mart's or Dicks Sporting Goods. Need more space? This is our 3rd or 4th trip to Wintersun. It is one of our favorite places to come and relax.... The property is beautiful and we love hiking on the estate trails. We also love that we can bring our dog. It is nice to find a property that will comfortably accommodate a big group. We will definitely be back!

Wintersun was the perfect place to enjoy our Thanksgiving with family and friends! The house was so cozy and comfortable and big enough for all our 11 guests. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas! The house was well-equipped for all our needs and the grounds were beautiful. My brother brought his fly-fishing rods and tried out the trout stream. We really enjoyed the natural gas fire pit outside! Plus it was great to take our dogs! We will definitely rent Wintersun again. Judy was a great host and so easy to work with.

The cottage was such a surprise. We were looking for a nice place to snuggle in with our son who is a freshman at UNCA and we stumbled on Wintersun. The disc golf course drewme in, but wow! I had no idea we would be staying on our own private preserve with miles of hiking trails to explore! It could not have been a more perfect fit for us. Another bonus is that it is dog friendly. Our son was able to reconnect with his girl, Gertie!

“I wish this place was closer to home!” was the most common sentence I heard during our weekend visit. We had a great time during our stay at this gem of a spot! Any time I’m planning an Asheville trip I’ll be making the extra drive to Fairview (and bringing my discs).

Wonderful weekend. It ended up being 4 of us, women of age. The bedroom situation was perfect because 2 of the women have difficulty with stairs. It is hard to find a house with more than one bedroom on the main floor, but this one has three! Beautiful, quiet setting! The trees were turning colors…it was Heavenly!

Everyone loved the house and grounds. Hard to believe you can be so close to Asheville but have this much nature around you. The house is very well equipped, beautifully decorated, and sits in a pasture filled with wildlife. Wake to birds singing, watch the Turkeys feed, then walk around the expansive property. Western NC at it's very best!

Group of us went to explore Asheville breweries and play some disc golf. Cottage was fantastic and had plenty of room for everyone. Disc golf course was awesome and the property was beautiful! Very well maintained. Would be happy to stay here again!

Rented this lovely house for visiting family of 4, two parents and two young adults. On their way to Asheville, they all came down with a cold, so we spent most of our time indoors or on the property. There was plenty of room for the six of us to sit together and chat, gather around a table to play games or stroll the grounds enjoying the spring weather. Everyone adored it and returned home refreshed and renewed. We will definitely make this delightful and comfortable cottage our regular home away from home.

It's not always easy to find a home rental that makes three generations of guests happy, but Wintersun hit the mark for our reunion of eight (plus one dog) this weekend. The house was immaculate and had all the cookware and utensils that we needed for our meals, and we all appreciated the small post-card-size, take-along cards Judy and Susan made with directions to local sites; the detailed architectural/landscaping map of the (extensive and beautiful) grounds; and the helpful disc golf maps (not to mention the spare discs!). The power went out very briefly during a thunder/wind storm, but Judy promptly texted that she was arriving with candles and flashlights---which we wound up not needing, because the power came back on shortly. We also appreciated her letting us stay after our departure time to play one last round of disc golf. Everyone agreed that we'd stay there again in a heartbeat. Beautiful property, attentive and friendly hosts. Thank you, Judy and Susan!

This cottage is incredibly unique and charming with timeless decor, a vast array of books, and trinkets galore! We had a crew of adults and teenagers and all raved about the property and space. Meals around the tables both inside and out were so cozy and comfortable. The on-site walking trails and disc golf were a hit. No need for media games/screens at all! And decorated for Christmas! Comfy beds. A true home away from home. We will be back!

The house itself was fine, the listing online was accurate. It's a little dated and literally packed full of stuff, one bedroom for some reason had a 100 piece china display. So not a great house for kids. That said the location and the property is simply amazing. We had an awesome time playing disc golf and just walking around during the day or night. Very special property and was such a nice change of scenery. We booked it because we disc golf. The disc golf was pretty homebrew, there was good directions via the provided map, but mobile baskets and tees. Not a pro setup, but still a well designed course that was very scenic and challenging. We had an amazing stay. I'd recommend this place for up to 4 singles and up to 7-8 total people if couples.

We had a great stay at the cottage. It was a convenient location for a visit to the Biltmore and hiking on Rumbling bald trail. We enjoyed the disc golf, and need to return to walk the trails. The house had everything we needed. If you are looking for a nice quiet place that is also convient, this is a great place to rent

Judy’s place was in a beautiful setting. We enjoyed our two nights there. House was well appointed and had enough space for all 8 of us (6 adults and 2 teens). Under 20 minutes to downtown Asheville is an added bonus. Would recommend or all.
