About this bed and breakfast

Selby Knoll Guesthouse - Lake Coeur d'Alene Our calendar is updated in real-time & our nightly rates are accurately displayed. Simply enter your desired dates and click 'Book Now!' Set in a majestic forest on a gentle knoll overlooking the south end of Lake Coeur d'Alene, this esthetic guest house provides a serene, natural experience just a few miles from all the recreation Harrison and greater North Idaho have to offer. Recently re-opened after a partial remodel and in its fifth year as a Vacasa rental, this simple, tasteful retreat is nestled deep in a conservation easement owned by the original homestead family off a quiet, county-maintained gravel road with no neighbors in sight. There are no neighbors, and the connected manor house is not open to the public - when in residence, the owner's family is respectful of your privacy and serenity. Your guest house was designed for privacy from the adjacent manor house. The great room lets the towering forest view come into through carefully arraigned windows and skylights. One step outside brings you to an outdoor room, a spacious deck dappled in sunlight and shade throughout the day, great for bird watching and occasional game sighting, dining, reading, or just plain lounging. An acre of park-like towering forest glen just off the deck is for you exclusively, and a path leads down to a satellite deck with filtered views up and down Lake Coeur d'Alene. Encounters on the property with white-tailed deer are common, plus moose, elk, and black bear sightings from time to time. Influenced by the Prairie Style, your guesthouse is simple and functional, with red oak floors and granite kitchen countertops and furnished with an uncluttered Asian-influenced esthetic reflecting the owners' many years overseas in the Far East. The large great room has the kitchen, dining, and socializing. Completing the main floor is the main bedroom with a bed under a Javanese wall carving and the recently remodeled bathroom with private forest views. The basement affords access to the main floor and the washer/dryer. WHAT'S NEARBY At the end of our road few miles to the south, lies Idaho Fish and Game's Round Lake Sportsman Access. A few miles to the north on a scenic lakeside drive is Harrison, with a marina, general store, dining, antiques, a premier ice cream parlor, plus comprehensive aquatic and cycle rentals, all on the portal to the incredible Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes. Farther afield is all the four-season wonderland of North Idaho has to offer with its lakes, rivers, National Forests, and world-class bike trails and parks. THINGS TO KNOW Due to the woodland location, the paths are un-improved and steep in spots. Everything in the home is to code, but there are porch and deck areas with no railings. Wood fires are not allowed inside or out to protect our family forest and respect our wildlife. Use extreme caution when using the gas grill. A flight of steps is needed to get to the main floor from the parking area. The managers of the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes restrict public access to trailheads, so the closest trailhead is in Harrison. If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the pet fee is already included in your quote when selecting ‘Yes’ to pets. If you would like to add more dogs, please contact us. The pet fee is per stay and ranges between $150 and $200, depending on the bedroom count, and will apply for each additional dog. Parking notes: There is free parking available for 2 vehicles. Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). (A discount may be applied for stays of 28 nights or longer, if permitted.) The Damage Waiver covers you for up to $3,000 of accidental damage to the Property or its contents (such as furniture, fixtures, and appliances) as long as you report the incident to the host prior to checking out. The Damage Waiver fee eliminates the need for a traditional security deposit. More information can be downloaded from the "Rental Agreement" on the checkout page. Due to local laws or HOA requirements, guests must be at least 21 years of age to book. Guests under 21 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for the duration of the reservation.

We came here as a getaway after the passing of my husband. It was a wonderful setting for the children and I to just check out mentally and relax. Loved the location and the amenities. Highly recommend this property if you need a place to clear your mind.

Our stay was wonderful & we appreciated all the little touches you made for our comfort - but you overlook one BIG problem. There are 2 large Hindu god statues on either side of the bed; along with another one in the living room. These are often accompanied by demonic presence(s). Having experienced this before, I travel with Catholic Holy Sacramental objects and prayers; and was able to banish any demonic creatures from your house. Thereafter we had a peaceful stay. But our daughter refused to stay there. She has seen people become possessed by a demon (and need a Catholic priest for exorcism) - and so she is very nervous about such things. I assume you (like most people) are unaware of all this; and so I wanted to let you know. But I would still recommend you get rid of those statues. Demons return to where they are displayed & welcomed; and (speaking from experience) to be awakened by one in the middle of the night can be a terrifying experience. God bless you, & kind regards, Attorney SF

Absolutely loved everything about this property. It was such a pleasant stay in a perfect setting: enjoyable outdoors views and indoors windows were most loved by me. Thanks to the property owners and all who helped make this an ideal few days for Jim and me as we celebrated our 54th! We did not see the owners but I am sure they would have been delightful. They get an automatic rating of five stars.

My wife and I were very excited to spend our wedding anniversary at Selby Knoll Guesthouse. When we arrived we thought the location was remote and beautiful. We loved all with windows in the guesthouse! When we arrived my wife went to take a bath in the advertised 100 yr old clawfoot tub and was surprised to see that it wasn't there. However the replacement tub was large and inviting. When we went to fill the tub the water was yellow. Very yellow. I suspect it was just iron in the water but my wife was concerned. We emailed the address we were give for problems and no one ever answered. So, no long hot baths for us! We purchased bottled water to drink and cook with. I highly recommend that if this is normal that you address it in your listing so people know. When we went to cook a meal we found 2 frying pans, both teflon pans were severely damaged and scratched and both were dirty, as in dried food on the edges on one. It isn't safe to cook in teflon when there are deep scraps and scratches in the pans. Then we discovered ants. Mostly in the kitchen and near the twin beds in the living room. These things combined really put a damper on our getaway. It's a shame because like I said the location is very beautiful.

Hunting was good so we actually left two days early! Too bad we couldn’t get money back but enjoyed the stay.
