I recently had the pleasure of staying at Favela Chic, and I felt compelled to share my exceptional experience at this incredible property. First and foremost, I must commend Jesse, the host, for his outstanding hospitality. Despite our last-minute reservation, Jesse went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, adding an extra layer of warmth to our visit and setting the stage for a truly memorable stay.
In the process of selecting our accommodation, I scoured the reviews to make sure they aligned with our expectations. One particular review caught my attention, where a previous guest described the Bungalows as "generic" and compared them to a "Quonset hut." However, after experiencing Favela Chic firsthand, I find it necessary to respectfully disagree and offer a more accurate portrayal.
Contrary to the "generic" label, Favela Chic stands out as anything but ordinary. The grounds are meticulously maintained, creating a relaxing environment that seamlessly blends with the lush foliage surrounding and intertwining with the area. The overall atmosphere is charming and relaxing.
Addressing the comparison to a "Quonset hut," I found this description to be grossly inaccurate. The Bungalows at Favela Chic are not only structurally unique but also boast tasteful decorations and have full, well-equipped kitchens. There is even a housekeeper that will come by daily if you wish, changing out sheets and towels. The attention to detail in the design and the fantastic service that you don't see at other properties, significantly adds to the overall charm of the accommodations, dispelling any notions of generic or mundane accommodations.
In conclusion, my stay at Favela Chic was nothing short of wonderful, and I felt compelled to provide a more accurate perspective in light of the prior review.

Responsive host, pleasant staff. This property is a set of five bungalows which are more like half a Quonset hut, which means no windows at all on one full side. This is needed because they are very close to each other, alongside a narrow pool, with a high fence (covered in greenery) around the lot just a few feet away in each direction. Bungalow 5 is the one with the most privacy. Decent kitchen, with cooktop, microwave, toaster, etc. Nescafé coffee machine instead of a coffee maker, would prefer Britt, like we usually get in CR. Lots of air freshener and fabric softener use—not a good fit if you are sensitive to that. The pool area is pretty small; luckily we were the only ones there. Big house next door has high ceilings so you can hear them talking, unfortunately.
Know what you are getting: a reasonably comfortable, generic Airbnb that has no views and could be anywhere, once you are inside. But it is very close to Playa Langosta, which a good handful of restaurants and a grocery very nearby. It’s just not quite as boutique as I expected from the listing photos. This will be the best fit for someone who doesn’t intend to spend much time hanging at the property but would like to be able to cook dinners. Air con is strong, WiFi is good. Beds not great but fine.

Very nice little pool area.
The units are very well equipped, very clean and spacious.
A few nice places to eat close by in playa langosta. El Sapo pizza, surf club and the new bakery pandeli are brilliant.
Around 20mins walk to the centre of tamarindo or around $5 in a Uber.
All the information supplied by the staff for things to do in the area and info regarding the property was very helpful and any questions where answered promptly.

Friendly and attentive staff. It was spacious, clean, and secluded with everything you need for a long, comfortable, relaxed stay. One of the best places I have ever stayed. Jesse was awesome and Ana was kind and thoughtful.

The bungalow was very well kept. Clean, cute and safe. Jesse the property owner and his house keeper were there when ever you needed. Any question about the area we had, we just asked Jesse. Very nice !

Beautiful and spacious apartment outside of the town. Quiet and comdortable throughout. The town center is easy accessible by provided bikes. The host ia very friendly and is actively asking about wether coffee has to be filled up or towels had to be changed.
There are two details: The maintenance of the bike could be improved. It seemed that other guests kept the key for the best bikes. The other thing is the check-out time at 10 AM, which is too early (The information is provided before booking but nonentheless a later check out would be appreciated)

Cool design , lovely pool and garden ! Beautiful villa with everything you need . Super comfy huge beds , lots of towels . We used the bikes everyday . Loved the location Langosta beach is perfect for surfing easy to walk to . Also loved all the local restaurants didn’t need to go into Tamarindo .

The pool was amazing, the bungalow itself was roomy and had everything we needed for our stay. Jesse was a prompt communicator, and having access to the bikes to get into the main part of Tamarindo was really nice! Wifi signal was good.
The location is a bit secluded (mostly for the better), but there's a lot of construction nearby and the street itself isn't the prettiest - it can feel a bit sketchy if you're not prepared! But the compound itself was safe and we felt very comfortable throughout the entirety of our stay.

Jesse was amazing, always there to help and answer our questions. We really appreciated using the bikes that he provided because the property is in Langosta, a calmer part of Tamarindo, which we preferred. Therefore, biking to the beach or into town helped and it was really pleasant. We also liked having a small kitchen to prepare breakfast or dinner and we enjoyed a lot the garden and the pool. We saw howler monkeys, hummingbirds and other birds in the garden.

Such a beautiful place to stay, the bungalows are so charming and unique, and with only 5 units it feels way more private than a hotel. All the lush plants around makes the property a relaxing oasis right by the beach. Playa langosta is definitely the place to stay if you value peace and quiet, but still want to be close to the nightlife in tamarindo. The beach here is in our opinion much nicer, less crowded and more wildlife too see. Also has epic waves. Great option if you have a rental vehicle or just like being active (we didn't mind the 15-20 min walk into town to get food). But El Sapo Pizzeria (in playa langosta) is the place to go if you want food 5 min away. Jesse (the owner) is extremely hospitable and will help you with anything you need. You need to ask if you want things cleaned and changed in the bungalow, but I actually appreciated that, as it's a much more eco conscious way to run a rental property. Area seems super safe regardless but the security gate makes you feel extra comfortable. This is the place to stay for couples (can be tricky to find adults only in tamarindo)!

Beautiful property! We enjoyed every minute! Everything is so well thought of; the super comfy king bed, the pool area and the beautiful garden, the awesome private porch which is perfect for sipping a morning coffee on and watch the hummingbirds. Many comfy perks like very well equipped kitchen, big beach towels and pool towels, big drying rack, air conditioner plus ceiling fan in every room!
Jesse was a great host! Very responsive and friendly and gave us the best recommendation for a great beach club nearby and delicious pizza and the most amazing surfing instructor Mao that helped us feel so comfortable on the board and really surf on the very first lesson!
Great place in an awesome quiet location within a walking distance for everything! Would definitely come back!

The building and garden were beautiful and the location - away from the hustle and noise of the downtown area (yet totally walkable) was wonderful. On one of my morning walks, I saw a family of monkeys with a little baby in the tree a block away from our room.
It would have been appreciated to have just a few little niceties like shampoo, cream rinse, soap or body wash for the shower, and for a location to say they are being environmentally considerate, I believe they really need to consider replacing their current Krupp style coffee makers with coffee makers that have much less impact on the planet - different coffee makers would also allow guests to buy amd enjoy Costa Rican awesome coffee :)
The bed was pretty firm which some may enjoy and the air conditioner was a nice feature to have as it was quite warm during our visit. The pool was super refreshing and very close to all guests front doors yet felt private while swimming in it.
The kitchen was sparsely equipped which didn’t impact our stay much as we ate out for the two days we were there, but I imagine if you are trying to make it an affordable home base, having a few more items would be helpful. A wonderful tiny grocery store was just a block away and we encountered a wandering horse on one of our evening walks - which was cool. Unfortunately for us a very unhappy baby was staying in the units right next door :/ though I imagine most times the noises someone would hear would be from the finger of jungle which is just a few feet away.

The bungalow is amazing. The whole of Favela chic is great. Great location and the hotel provides bikes so you can move around really easily. Jesse is a great host. Highly recommend !

The location was great, it was in a quite part of Tamarindo so you were not exposed to the sounds of the nightlife but yet close enough to walk there and join the crowd. The host, Jesse, was extremely friendly and accommodating. He gave us great recommendations for places to visit in the area and he was available 24/7 to answer any questions we had about our stay in the area.

The accommodation was pretty awesome. The interior is well chosen and everything fits together. The bed was spacious and cosy. The kitchen had all essentials to prepare small snacks and eat breakfast.
Close to the Playa Langosta which is more beautiful and relaxing than the Tamarindo beach (you get asked every 5min to buy something from another salesman).
