Nestled in the little town of Rutherfordton, NC is a beautiful B&B that meets all expectations of hospitality. The rooms are beautifully preserved and loaded with history. The inn-keepers, Jim and Russell, make you feel that you have just joined a Hallmark family for the duration of your stay. A real pleasure was experiencing the gourmet breakfast served every morning; they were always pleasing to the eyes and stomachs!

Jim and Russell are impeccable hosts who care deeply about building relationships with their guests. This was our second time staying here. Carrier House is a classic, charming, and relaxing B&B with positive energy and amazing breakfasts! A wonderful place to rest and rejuvenate!

Enjoyed conversations with Russell and Jim and the quality of the food at breakfast. My wife and I both commented on the way home that a pad should be put in the tub so the person taking a shower is less likely to slip and fall. I almost fell our second morning there when my foot slipped when I first go into the tub, but I was able to stay upright. Also our first night there the motion sensor in the ceiling affected our sleep and it was too late to call Jim or Russell. The slightest movement in bed (such as changing which side I was sleeping on) caused it to come on. We did not have to get out of bed for it to come on. Perhaps let guests know about this feature and see if they feel a need for it. I had never seen such a motion sensor before and was not sure why the light kept turning on. That said, we hope to come again and it was overall a good experience. Jim did stop the sensor from coming on during our second night.

Oh my gosh, the breakfasts were fabulous! Hard to choose a favorite but I think I’d vote for the ricotta cheese pancakes!!

The owners were very hospitable and gave us historic facts about the property. Each guest room has a theme. I found that to be very neat! Breakfast was absolutely delicious and unique. We greatly enjoyed our stay at the Carrier House Inn.

Quaint, charming, clean accommodations with courteous,friendly, helpful, professional hosts who provide a breakfast worthy of a first class restaurant!
Prefer firm mattress with cushions and firm foam pillows… but that’s just my preference.

Great stay there, beautiful old home lots of history. Very well appointed great central location to restaurants and the downtown. Breakfasts were outstanding much better than having to go out and way way better than chain hotel complimentary breakfast. Russell and James are wonderful hosts, we look forward to returning
Shower was a little confining but it is an old house that did not even have plumbing so it required a smaller shower stall, it was tight but I easily able to take a shower. So I guess really nothing negative to say at all

Not being aware of the stairs and the small step up bathroom was difficult for us as seniors.. , I felt bad That I hadn’t lightened my suitcase as it was too heavy and I required help

Menu items served were delicious, stupendous, gourmet delicacies. The cuisine justifiably excellent by way of the special attention and detail given the place settings.
We are convinced that the only problem we had, possibly, was the closing and locking of the bathroom door. This door problem definitely needs looking into.

I arrived very late in the night and the host was gracious and accommodating. The room is beautiful and comfortable with a private bath room. Having breakfast in the lovely garden on a glorious morning with delicious fruit cup of local fruit and fresh picked mint from their garden. Can't wait for the main course, it smells delicious!

Everything about the location, Inn, food, and Hosts (Jim and Russell) are perfect! The Inn itself was a historic memory just beautiful. The hosts are amazing! They gave us a wonderful time with a lot of history regarding the Inn and the location. The breakfast outstanding! Can't wait to come back... oh and the smell of the baking throughout of the house was an added homey touch.. can not wait to return during the spring for some hiking

My daughter and I loved our stay at this beautiful B&B. When we arrived we were delighted by the abundance of autumn decorations, fresh homemade chocolate chip cookies and our tour of the place. Russell and Jim know the delicate balance of entertaining, serving and giving you privacy. In the evening, candlelights in the windows, chandelier on the sun patio, sparkling lights in the garden gave the place an enchanting comfortable ambiance. We sat on the patio enjoying our dinner listening to the calming fountains. In the morning, the gardens were a perfect place to enjoy a cup of tea and yoga. Russell and Jim made the most delicious gourmet breakfast served on delicate crystal and China plates. They accommodated my daughters vegetarian lifestyle with pleasure.

Beautiful house(s), with period furniture. Very quiet. Huge and comfortable bed. Good shower etc. Excellent gourmet breakfast. We walked to a very good (and good value) Mexican restaurant for dinner.
