Stunning resort with breathing taking beauty and plenty of activities.
But has become extremely expensive lately.
I've been just about every year for a decade now, but I think my most recent trip will be my last.
I don't think it represents fair value for money anymore.
Owners/operators have let the service quality slide quite a bit. Cabins and location are still fantastic. But there are probably other equally impressive locations with far more friendly welcoming, warm service that are not anywhere near as expensive as this place.

Very bad experience, my friend fell and broke her wrist and the hotel did not have any transportation to go to the hospital, they did not have a pain pill, they called the taxi companies and they could not find a taxi, thank God, someone He offered to take us, we also had 2 activities that same day that we couldn't do and they didn't refund our money. When you arrive you have to carry the suitcases yourself to the room, which are super far away. I don't recommend it. He only cares about making money. he doesn't care about the client, the food was terrible

The whole facility and dinner looks good. However, the Sauna doesn’t work. The heating dial was missing. A screw of door handle was loose. No service for fireplace at all. I mentioned this just because the price doesn’t match the facilities. I paid a lot and do want to see those facilities works well even I don’t use it.

Dining options are pretty slim but i didnt book this place for the food.

I just love the glass igloo. it was quite an experience. Waking up seeing the sky. It was beautiful. Miss seeing aurora but the experience is unforgettable. Food was good and staff were ok.

I stayed here in September. It was the slow season, so there was not nearly as many activities offered. If you're wanting to go here, I would HIGHLY recommend going in the winter/snowy months. It will be more fun and prettier. Also, be prepared to pay a lot. All the activities offered are really cool, but cost hundreds of dollars each. That said, I enjoyed my time and am really glad I went. Service was excellent. Everyone I talked to was friendly and helpful, and staying in the igloos is awesome even if you don't get to see the northern lights.

Best hotel experience ever! The staff (most of them are expats) treated me like a king. They were nice enough to pick me up with their shuttle bus and gave me extra food for missing some meals. Hospitality is so great! I can't thank them enough. They went above and beyond for me.
Staying inside the glass igloo as a hotel room is a dream come true. Time does go by very fast, so sleep less and just gaze at the roof as you are laying down. I'm literally the happiest person on Earth.
Thanks Kakslauttanen team! You guys are amazing!

A unique opportunity to explore Lapland experiencing Reindeer sled rides, husky sled rides, snow mobile rides and cross country skiing, topped by the hope to witness the Aurora Northern Lights that did indeed shine across the sky on our second night.

The resort has a very scenic ambiance. The dining hall is very Finnish using natural resources from the property, I assume. Staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. All the activities organized were fun. A bit disappointed with the food menu. I hope there is an improvement in that area.

Once is a lifetime experience. Had a great time overall. The food needs to be more accommodating and non-repetitive. It can do wonders if the focus on quality and taste of the food is increased. Resort is great but is utilized 50% of its true potential. Location A+, Stay A, Pre-Booking support B+, and food is a solid D. If you can figure food this resort can touch a different level of greatness.

It was a wonderful experience staying in a glass lgloos at Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort! We catch the northern lights on the second nights which was so stunning and amazing!

The peace and quiet experience and landscaping around property. Amazing place for spiritual retreat
However lacking food quality and staff shortage or lack of service at restaurant and bar area. Needs staff all the time at bar. Waited 20 mins for a cappuccino and no-one in front of me please people. Change menu diversity for breakfast and try to hire chefs a la carte this will give this resort a 100 plus
Please add tv in the rooms that is much needed when after dark theres nothing to do other than sleep and eat but if no tv and no good food service why go there
Husky tour
Reindeer tour
Santa claus
Skiing
Ice fishing
Ice breaker tour etc was all great but would not go back till new menu on restaurant (aurora)
Overall is an amazing place to stay but once again it will make this resort a 5 star if the above was added
Will i go back there

The only thing nice is the location and property however when it comes to Kakslauttanen (west village) staff they require a lesson on Hospitality, they were highly understaffed & outright rude behind the counter there was an Indian, a European and an Asian.
The Indian lady who seems to be a manager needs to be taught how to smile and be courteous and needs to learn to talk to customers and learn manners (I over heard uncourteously boasting we are the first to make the glass igloo).
We wanted to book excursions, the Asian lady made a face and replied you should have booked it online, she helped us after but that is so rude
The European lady was the kindest and polite, the other two should learn from her.
When it came to food,At breakfast there was bread, Jam, cereal, I requested for boiled eggs the hostess said she had only 3 so please take one (surprising in a hotel on Christmas you have 3 eggs) with hundreds of guests.
For dinner for vegetarians there was steamed veggies, boiled and baked potato, and only cabbage rolls another day.
We never visited the restaurant after these experiences.
It is disappointing you pay thousands of euros and all you get is bad service and almost no food.
Each and every couple that we met were disappointed and would recommend that you never visit this property, If you do then make sure that you carry your own food!!!
To the hotel management, a customer expects service and not to be left hungry... I am a very dissatisfied customer

No showers inside. Everything else was Ok

1.We loved this property. We stayed in the small glass igloo for three nights. Clean, warm, cozy, unique, wonderful grounds, walkable, even the wifi was great when I needed to check-in with work, great experience.
BUT-
2. For $600 a night, a tole but no shower? There is room for a shower vs the 200m walks to the barely used shower house. Speaking of the shower house, the sauna hours didn't start until 1700 and were separated by male and female saunas, no combined experience. The breakfast and dinners were included, but were high school cafeteria quality (soups, bread, pasta, with plate cake desserts). No pool, no massage available, no bar open.
3. The front desk staff were heroes, amazing even while working in chaos. All activities meet in the front desk area and people get nervous when it is past the meet time and you are still waiting - so people ask the desk agents. Why not put up a digital sign stating the schedule? You also have to wait in line with the front desk to reserve your dinner time - why not add a digital roster in the rooms, online, or in the lobby, or even a simple clipboard instead of using front desk lines and their time? No pool but you built a massive multimillion dollar art gallery and gift shop? Why not turn the cavernous gallery into an indoor / outdoor pool with saunas, there is room and would give stranded guests a place to go while waiting to check in / check out instead of the lobby looking like the waiting area of a bus station.

By far, Kakslauttanen artic resort (west village) this was the worst place for us in entire Finland trip.
Please, please, please do not recommend this place to anyone else. Horrible customer service, pathetic food and the most disgusting front desk. These people at the front desk should not be in the hospitality industry at all.
The price for this trash is an absolute ripoff .

Whilst the hotel has some flaws around organisation and food options and choices it is still a once in a life time experience which I would recommend booking

This place is absolutely magical! We had the best time! We first stayed in one of the igloos and switched to one of their Kelos. Both rooms were unique, but we wanted a private shower and sauna so that’s why we switched. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. They made our stay special and stress-free. The food was outstanding too!

Great experience - especially the nature and surroundings. We were there 3 days - that is totally enough for experiencing the Huskies, Deers and snow mobile. Rooms/Iglos are nice and clean, but not luxury. Beds a little hard/primitive. You don't go there for the food - very ordinary and low key buffet style.

Pros: The property was beautiful, the Kelo Igloo cabin was clean, housekeeping staff was incredibly kind.
Cons: the temperature is controlled for the igloo and it is miserably hot. I couldn’t sleep because I was sweaty. I didn’t know how hot it would be until we got there. I run hot due to a medical issue and I was completely miserable not being able to control the temperature. They should tell you this on their website.
The WiFi was down for all but one day. I asked 4 times for it to be fixed and it didn’t happen until our last night. Without WiFi, the aurora alarm doesn’t work so we missed 2 alarms on the only night the lights were visible.
Front desk staff was all incredibly rude other than one kind woman (sorry, I don’t know her name). One lady with curly hair was helping me and then walked away mid conversation and took someone else’s luggage into the storage room and never returned to help me.
Lately, the two twin beds that are pushed together in the igloo portion of the room are on wheels and the beds slide across the floor when the wheels were locked. We would wake up 6 inches away from where we fell asleep due to the beds moving as we tossed and turned at night.
Disappointed that we spent so much time and money planning this trip and the Kelo was an awful experience.

Stayed at the east wing igloo and pretty hard to locate in the dark. Overall, room and bathroom was pretty small but it’s fine for solo or couple traveler/s, nice view from the glass of the room but didn’t see any northern light on that night. Bed was small but pretty comfortable and breakfast selections were absolutely great, dinner was ok.

Worst customer service i ever experience. Employee from snow mobile insult me, after i spend $600 in snowmobile. Rent a tour for 2 hours and they only give me 1 hour , He don't have manners they dont care about nothing. Super expensive and they make you eat there because there is no more choice. Food was not good. Order 2 time chimney service and never arrived. It was a disaster.

We stayed five nights at Kakslauttanen and had an amazing time doing activities like snow mobiling, reindeer sleigh ride and husky ride. The activities were great & made the stay a great adventure. We stayed at East Village which is the original part of the resort. It's smaller and less packed as the West Village, but some parts are starting to get a little dated (e.g. bathrooms). The large log cabin was nice, but had a hard bed and we only got properly hot water in the shower early in the morning. Later in the day water was always cold. We also stayed in one of the glass igloos which was amazing with the view of the sky, but it was way too warm inside. It was so warm it was terrible to sleep in there as we found no way to adjust the temperature. Other than the paid activities there's not much to do at the resort, but we had one activity per day and time went fast. Breakfast was served in the resort's restaurant and it was pretty good. Dinner was at the same spot with a set menu and a choice of couple different entrees. We had some nice salmon soup, really good chicken, white fish dish that was just okay and a steak which was chewy and not good. Staff was nice, but most of them seemed like they were new there. They were unorganized and unsure of how to get things done. Some of them didn't speak very good English either which created issues for example when they communicated with the local taxis. The resort itself was overpriced, but the activities were worth every penny.

Had a wonderful experience. The Kelo igloo we stayed in was just amazing. It would be great if they improved on the shuttle service within the resort. We had to wait for more than 2 hours for a shuttle to get from East to West village.

The resort sells itself but the management of the resort is lacking terribly. Too long of a wait at meals. Resort could be a first rate resort but they need to go learn from other resorts that are first rate about the simple aspects of how to make it a top notch resort. The activities were a must do. The dog sledding amazing. My husband saw the aurora borealis because we hired a borealis hunter. Another must do.

Property is unique, beautiful especially the Kelo glass igloo. Surprisingly warm inside the igloo even in such a cold weather. Food was good in the restaurant. Staff was very busy but we could tell they had tried their best. Both Husky and Reindeer ride worthy to try. After all amazing trip
