I don't know if I liked the view from the bed more or the view at breakfast, I will definitely never forget these views. I don't think you can get tired of them. There are small shops nearby, the route from the harbor to the accommodation is also manageable on foot (approx. 10 minutes), otherwise tuk-tuks are available for transportation. Village itself doesn't offer you much, but you can walk in 45 minutes to the nearby San Marcos La Laguna, where more life is available. The accommodation is wonderful, we slept with the tent open the entire time. I also recommend the dinner cooked by the owner, it is excellent. There is also an additional bar next to the accommodation where you can eat and drink during the day.

One of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. The room was stunning and unique, with all the facilities you would need. Gabby and Johan took wonderful care of us and all the other guests - the food was fantastic, both at breakfast and dinner. They also create a really nice sociable atmosphere. View from the room was also outstanding!

Amazing location with fantastic views. The dinner at the hotel at night made it very convenient for intimate stays. The atmosphere was welcoming and personalized. The proprietor provided a blind rum tasting at my request which was entertaining and enlightening. The “Fancy Dinner” night held once a month had great entertainment.
Gary also arranged for transport and made some food recommendations of where to eat in Tzununa and what to do in the area
It was a bit difficult going up all those stairs with luggage but they will help you. Not a problem with the hotel but the Tuk Tuk drivers will try to rip you off so beware.

The view from our glamping room was spectacular and each meal we had could not have been more fresh and well-prepared. The staff are all extremely friendly and each meal felt like you were sitting down with a new small family to enjoy.
It was not a problem for us, but the stairs are a workout each time returning to the property.

We loved the views of the lake, loved the food prepared for us by Jorge, Jochen, Maria and Mia & , loved the hospitality and care we got from Gaby & Elaina. The bed was super comfortable and the experience was wonderful. Property is immersed and designed around nature so it was a wonderful experience.

Everything!! It was amazing! The staff, the food, the vibe. We loved it all. Cannot recommend this place enough!

It’s gorgeous and the views are unbeatable. Really serene. The food was great and the breakfast was excellent. Very clean and beautiful setting.
It’s a bit remote, so you need day trips on the small boats to move about. However that’s part of the charm. Remember that even though it’s glamping, you are still in the mountain so you need to be ok with some insects. However, if you are looking at places liek this , the for sure you are ok with it!

Loved the room, atmosphere , views, and food. Everything was great about this hotel. The owners really help you out if you need any info on getting around or scheduling activities. Breakfast is so delicious as well as dinner. Every night at 7pm all the guest would get together to chat and eat dinner which makes this experience even better. If your looking for a great, open concept nature experience without the whole camping outside picnic is the perfect choice. 💯 recommend.

Amazing property, one of the most unique places I have stayed. Good location with nice walks nearby. Really nice food cooked by Jochen. Gaby was incredibly helpful in organising transportation. Jochen and Gaby are lovely people and made us feel very welcome.

Amazing stay at El Picnic, the environment is breathtaking, there are only 4 rooms so everything is kept in symbiosis with the surrounding nature.
You will never get enough from the view and the generosity of the hosts: Gaby and Jochen.
Truly unforgettable moments spent there, we’ll come back!

Everything was awe strikingly beautiful, so relaxing, and unbelievably so worth it. Worth the trip to enjoy Jochen and Gabby’s (Husband and wife duo) hospitality and food. This was my wife’s first time trying Schnitzel and I have to say it isn’t fair because she’ll never have it as delicious as this was. All of Jochen’s dishes coupled with Gabby’s attention was so memorable in that the dinners were intimate with conversation with the few other Guests (6) who join for dinner.
Other than an anxious barking dog from the neighborhood, waking up to the roosters and birds and the breeze negates the dog. Thankfully the on property assurance of their German Shepherds (Pancho & Negra) whom make sure to bark back and control the noise. LOL

The peace and tranquility of the place, and the staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Also, the food was amazing. George is a wonderful chef, and a delightful human being!!! :)

An amazing truly unique stay at El Picnic - everything was perfect! We loved waking up to the most incredible view of Atitlan against the backdrop of volcanos, having delicious breakfasts and dinners cooked fresh for us by Joan and exploring Tzununa. A very memorable stay and one we’ll be recommending to anyone visiting Guatemala. Gaby and Joan provided the best hospitality and have created such a special place. Thank you!

The views from my room were amazing. Clear views of the lake, mountains, and some of the volcanoes. Gaby was very welcoming and helped arrange transportation for me. Dinner and breakfast were delicious. Jochen is an amazing chef, it felt like I was getting a private chef experience.
Tzununa is a small town, it can be a little difficult to get a public lancha quickly to that dock. You may end up waiting for a little while.

A truly unique and magical hotel. The views from the rooms and the bar are just amazing and you could spend all day looking out at the lake and views. The food was some of the best we have had on our trip, and so nice to have home cooked food, with great portions. The owners are so nice and was great getting to know them each evening. The location is perfect to have a relaxing time and be away from some of the busier places on the lake.

This place is quite unusual.The room is just completely open to the outside,as well as the bathroom and closed like a tent at night.Pretty room and gorgeous view on the lake and volcano.Very quiet. The restaurant,more like a bar actually,is a treat too for the view. The german owner and his wife from Guatemala could not be more helpful for every question
There was a big tree that makes half of the view hidden from the room.It would be much prettier if it was nicely cut smaller.The garden and surroundings still need improvement but that should be done in the future.It was cold to have a shower outside in the morning and we were told some harmless spiders could be wandering around(we are outside !)but we happily did not see any in 3 days.Be aware a lot of steps to climb to your room.
We would have appreciate to have a little dessert with our dinner,not really a dinner actually,just a plate,but nice food.

I've traveled a fair amount, and this is probably my favorite hotel I've ever stayed at. The views are gorgeous, the "rooms" are magical, the staff is wonderful, and the food is delicious.

The location and views are incredible!! The hosts, Jochen and Gaby are very friendly and made our stay unforgettable. Breakfast was very good but dinner was really fantastic. Together with a nice wine we had a great dinner. We would love to come back one day and stay longer than just 1 night.

The property is located in a nice, quiet and slow place of Lake Atitlan. The view and facilities are amazing only surprising you when checking in to your room. The hosts have made sure that you does not miss close access to other restaurants, activities, etc.

This place is INCREDIBLE. The hosts have put so much passion and love into this place that it makes the stay unforgettable. They are such warm and interesting people, and it really felt like we were friends staying in their home. The open air rooms are very comfortable and the views are spectacular. Best shower ever. The service is outstanding and they made extra effort to make sure all of our dietary requirements were taken care of. I love this place so much, I can not wait to come back. The best place on the lake. Do not hesitate, book this, and you will not regret this bucket list experience.

We really liked the feeling like you are staying at a friend's place, we are quite an antisocial couple but we really enjoyed talking to the owners at breakfast and dinner. They also have two lovely German shepherds who greet the guests as well. The view from the room and the dining area is just one of those sights you'll never forget and waking up to it every day is special.
