Living Hotel Kanzler

Excellent aparthotel. We had a great business double apartment, comfortable bed, air conditioning, big bathroom with good shower and small kitchenette (hob and microwave, no oven), sitting area too. The room was clean and worked well for us. We had a room on the side of the building which was quiet and we slept well. Reception staff were excellent, especially the man with the beard who checked us in, though all of them were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. There is a subway in front of the hotel but the bus also runs to the street behind the hotel and I think that’s the better connection to the city centre. Location is very nice with lovely buildings and museums just a few steps away, though nearest supermarket is in the city centre or about 20 minutes walk away. There are no cafés nearby really. We didn’t try the hotel breakfast as we had our small kitchenette.

We had an extremely disappointing meal in the on site restaurant St Ribs, which was our only negative experience on our entire trip to Germany. We ordered chicken caesar main. It was just a bowl of lettuce with one tomato, a few croutons and a tiny amount of chicken, maybe 30g, for over 20 euros! The chicken was of such poor quality it was grey in colour and we had to ask the waiter if it was even cooked! We felt this was very poor value, and thankfully it did not make us sick. Go into Bonn centre, or even one of the museums for something to eat…you will get a better meal and better value for money elsewhere!

I like the style, de size of the room and the breakfast.

It was boiling hot inside my room like there was a heating on. I turned on the cooling on 5degrees but that did absolutely nothing except making a lot of noise. When i mentioned it to the staff at the reception she just laughed and mumbled she would tell the technician. I did not feel taken seriously at all.
