Fabulous location, beautiful view of Lake Wakatipu and The Remarkables and only a few minutes walk through the Gardens to the middle of town. New bathroom and kitchen. A great shower and comfie bed.

I couldn't say how comfortable the sofa bed is as a bed, but it was a very uncomfortable sofa. Room service only turned up 1 out of 3 days and did a desultory job; I think they were pressed for staff. Kitchen didn't stretch even to salt and pepper and there wasn't a sharp knife in the place.

The room had clearly not been properly checked before our arrival, and the staff were not proactive in resolving the issue. The ceiling light directly above the bed kept flickering, causing us bad headaches and eye discomfort. When we called reception, we were told that it could not be fixed until the following day. The only solution offered was to switch off the main light, which was the primary source of lighting in the room. Without it, we were left with only a small light near the kitchen entrance, which was nowhere near bright enough at night. As a result, our first night was extremely uncomfortable. The following morning, we were assured that maintenance would be contacted early to fix the problem. However, when it was almost midday and no one had arrived, we had to remind reception ourselves before they finally contacted maintenance. It seemed that the receptionist on the second day was unaware of the previous day’s conversation and the promise that had been made. Overall, the lack of proper room inspection, poor communication between staff and failure to take timely action were very disappointing. We should not have had to spend our first night in such uncomfortable conditions or repeatedly follow up ourselves to get a basic room issue addressed. I hope the property improves its room inspection procedures and communication between staff to prevent similar experiences for future guests.
