We loved the historic feel of the hotel. Staff were excellent very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very good. There were unexpected extras like a glass of bubbly late afternoon. Teas/ coffee and pastries out all day.
Location was superb.

Hard to access - need a taxi to get there w suitcases (ubers/rental cars not permitted). Would be good to proactively let people know that.

A wonderful boutique hotel within the castle walls. Generously appointed and fabulous breakfast setting, not to be missed.
It is situated in a very difficult position to access. Ubers cannot get to the top of the hill and need to drop you a good few hundred (steeply uphill) yards from the hotel. This could be very tricky either way luggage. Though the hotel attempts to assist where they can.

Gorgeous, peaceful courtyard to relax in after busy days exploring. Friendly and smiley staff, making it feel like a home. The complimentary transfer from the airport was a huge benefit. Taxis available to book through reception for trips, as uber cannot access the hotel directly. Complimentary wine, port and sweet treats are a lovely touch.
