The Maida Hotel

Very clean, staff are lovely. We had a wedding to attend on the Saturday and left our room a complete mess as we were rushing. We said we were dreading coming back to a messy room but when we walked in the room was tidy, the bed had been made, bins changed & fresh towels. All I can say is when we left, it looked like a bomb had hit. So, a big big BIG thank you to the cleaning staff for sorting our room. After a long day at a wedding it was so lovely to walk back into a clean room. We also didn’t mind the limitation on staff, we had an issue getting into the building and I called the number written on the email and a lady came straight away to help. Getting hold of anyone was not a problem whatsoever. We quite liked the no-contact for checking in & checking out. Also like to add the A/C in the room was incredible, we’ve never been to a hotel where the A/C actually does its job! We also liked that we could open our window, a lot of hotels for safety reasons won’t open or are limited (understandably). Next to the hotel is a Sainsburys & a domino’s down the road - which were very useful! Ubers had no issues finding us neither, considering it’s not a massive hotel.

No fridge in the room which was a shame, as we had brought drinks from Sainsbury’s. Before you step into the shower, the flooring was lifting. This didn’t bother us too much as it wasn’t a hazard or a safety issue. It just needed fixing! However, can understand why others would pick on it as an issue. Pastries are out for guests each morning for breakfast in the main entrance (lovely idea!). It says they are put out each morning at 7:30. When we would leave the hotel we would often see flies on the food.. which obviously put us off therefore never had a chance to try. I’d suggest the hotel staff placed the pastries under a plastic lid or even individually wrapped. Surely that’s a food hygiene problem!

An iron in the room would have been great but access to the steamer made up for this.

Clean, beautiful and comfortable place to stay. 10 out of 10!!

Not much.

No one attending in order to leave luggage safely, prior to check in. No plugs easily available for hair styling, no mirror near plug.
