Casa Botticelli

Casa Boticelli was a wonderful historic property in the heart of Santa Spirito, Florence and Oltarno close to the Ponte Vecchio and walking distance to Boboli Gardens. A cab was needed to visit Piazza Michelangelo to see the sunset though that the hotel staff helped us call. Of all the places we stayed in Italy this stay left us feeling like we had really experienced Florence's history and art and we loved being able to walk to all the wonderful restaurants and attractions. There was a convenient laundromat on the same street we utilized but the property does offer laundry services and had a wonderful buffet breakfast every morning. They also had some of the best made coffee (cappuccinos and expresso's) we had on our stay. They offered a 2nd floor open bar area for additional waters, softdrinks and coffee you could help yourself to with an honesty bar policy (leave a small fee.) The beds were very comfy as well as the shower and bathroom area. It had a mini split A/C that worked well. We were on the second floor deluxe Double room. The staff were all very friendly, hardworking and accomodating.

Upon arrival from our cab, we didnt see the sign for Casa Boticelli but then recognized the Browning historic sign so that was a little confusing. Getting in and around with luggage was a challenge with two carry on's and a medium sized suit case upon arrival before knowing how to get into the building and seeing the multiple stair cases. The elevator is quite historic too, which adds to the fun of the property.. it works, but is smaller and we needed two trips with the luggage. Highly recommend to get there before 6pm to meet the staff and not get keys on your own or it could be more challenging. There is a large beautiful rustic door, iron gates and more doors that operate on key codes and a card key that is needed otherwise multiple sets of stairs, which could be challenging for some to navigate. This hotel was not as quiet as we hoped or our room just faced to a busy street. We did hear late night road noise and recycling, garbage collection and the maid service although very good, was there for long hours and quite noisy in the hallways, from 10am til most of the afternoon and talking loudly.

there was quite a bit of noise outside on the street during the night/early morning but appreciate this is beyond the control of the hotel

Terrific location just across from the Pitti Palace in a renovated building. The rooms are good sized for a European city and the air conditioning and water pressure are good. The breakfast is a bonus, Cheese, meat, pastries, hard boiled egg and cappuccino. A good start to the day. Great restaurant recommendations from the front desk staff. Much better than the guidebook. No staff after 6 pm, but entry with a code is very easy and there are several levels of security. This is very close to the Ponte Vecchio. Stay here and avoid the crowds.
