Fatima (the host) was very kind and we had a super smooth check-in process. The apartment is right in the heart of Aveiro but still not too loud in the evening.

Our apartment was split up into two floors with the entrance, the kitchen, a small seating area and access to the (own) terrace being on the bottom floor and the bed and bathroom being on the upper floor. The air conditioning, however, is on the bottom floor. Unfortunately, the laws of physics make warm air go up and cold air go down, which leads to a very cold bottom floor and still a pretty warm upper floor and thus warm sleeping area. Other than that, the apartment is a great choice.

I had an unusual key exchange, but it was okay. The replacement person was friendly and did her best to speak in English. I'm very sensitive to cleanness, and noise. But I was really satisfied being there. Normally there is no heating in Portugal in the winter, but this accommodation has air conditioning which also worked as a heater so it was warm. Everything was very clean and modern. I was sick when I stayed there but I was able to fully recover during my stay. The location is also really nice.

We really liked the location here - it was the perfect location. Directly near a lot of restaurants/cafes and shopping, but a little off on the street so it was quiet. We felt safe while we stayed here too! Fatima was SUPER sweet and so nice. I really enjoyed her and appreciated her. Even though she didn't speak English and my non-existent Portuguese, she was super sweet and we were able to understand each other. They even provided a big water, little goodies, etc. I thought that was SO sweet that they provided a "welcome basket" for us. That definitely made our stay great and made us feel so welcomed! The apartment came with a laundry machine (wasn't able to use though), a courtyard, coffee, mini-kitchen, AC, etc. which was great! Overall, our stay was ok - it got the job done. We really really liked the location and the goodies they provided!

Upstairs was extremely stuffy and hot. We blasted the AC downstairs, but it never got cool upstairs where you sleep. I'm not sure why, but it didn't feel ventilated upstairs. We even tried to have the window open... but it still felt hot and stuffy. After checking in, the host (whoever runs the WhatsApp number) wasn't responsive. I asked how to fix the stuffiness upstairs and no response. I asked a few other questions and no response. When you're staying somewhere with no front desk, they should be responsive and helpful which I felt like they weren't. I also wish they left a manual on how to use the coffee machine/change the water, how to use the laundry machine, etc. There were also a lot of ants upstairs near the bed. It must have been from the previous guest because we had no food. We also weren't able to check-in at the check-in time because the room wasn't ready and had to wait on the street with our bags which was not really nice.

Fatima, the hostess, met us at the stated check-in time. She was very nice and helpful. There is no on-site parking, but there is a free lot nearby. Great location near several restaurants and shops, and easy access to other, less touristy, parts of the city. Nice outdoor space accessible from the apartment to sit outside and enjoy a drink.

The apartment was very small. The bed was accessible from only one side as it was placed against the wall with a shelf at the head of the bed, and a closet at the foot of the bed. Kitchen area was small with a flickering light and the kitchen table was under the stairs and not very pleasant to sit at. (The outdoor space was a lot more comfortable.)
