Beautiful well kept accommodations. Onsen in room was amazing. Staff attentive and helpful. It is a little downhill walk to town and bus station 4 will take you up the hill back. Meals were delicious but don't expect American tastes! They took very good care of us!
Nothing!

The private onsen, the toiletries provided and room was lovely.
Be aware that you may want to get dinner in town if you're not a seafood fan. It's beautifully prepared though so we did enjoy the presentation of the dishes. There is not a lot of explanation of what things are, so you're a little bit on your own as to what's what on the plate. Not heat for someone with food sensitivities.
On our departure date, we waited almost an hour for a taxi. We decided to walk to the station, there was no map of how to get there. Just a point to just keep going left, except it wasn't just left so we just asked people on the street. Seems like having a map to town (bc of the limited taxis) is a minimum that a hotel should be able to provide.
The service was very polite and kind in person. But when I messaged the property online, answers were rather abrupt and not helpful. I just learned to go to the front desk to get better service. An example is we messaged ahead to see if we could arrange a private driver to take us to a few spots. The answer was essentially no with no alternatives provided. When we were onsite, we saw something in their booklet for private drivers, so we asked again and they arranged a driver for the next day.

First time staying in a hotel with a private onsen. Had a wonderful experience. The hotel was easily accessible with bus/ shuttle. Will definitely consider staying at the hotel again on the next trip.

Amazing place. Stayed here as part of our honeymoon. Loved the private onsen. Definitely worth getting if you can afford it. The Japanese breakfast and dinner option takes some getting used to if you're familiar with a Western palette, however absolutely worth a try!

The amazing service provided by all staff. The decor was very impressive and felt authentic. A relaxing experience from start to finish. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food tasting in our own dining room. The private onsen was amazing 😀

It was unique in that it offered a private onsen in your room/balcony if you didn’t want to use the public onsen which was in the ground floor. We took advantage of the onsen in the late afternoon when we arrived, after dinner and after breakfast! They also have a beautiful lobby, hallway and private dining area, as well as carry/store away your shoes/luggage for you. We loved being in socks and wearing our yukata to meals and were treated attentively by all the staff. The room we slept in was clean, spacious and roomy for a ryokan.
It was harder to get to from the Odawara station. Public transportation is “light” in this resort town, so while it is fun to explore everything on foot, it can take a much longer time to wait for a bus to get to the museum or back to your hotel. You are better off paying for a taxi to get around (ie up/down the mountain base) if you are short on time.

Very nice private onsen, staff went above and beyond to make the experience comfortable.
Some of the food lacked taste.

It was a beautiful location and staff very attentive and helpful; the room was just charming as was the food
Having some more information on how to get to different places from hotel would have been helpful, as well as assistance with booking activities if need help with

rooms and staff was top notch.
the only thing we didn't like was the food. beautiful plates, but not so good taste.

The staff was very welcoming and accommodating. They seem to be reading the reviews and improving the overall experience. The kaiseki dinner was good, and the next day breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The floor futons were comfortable. The town is a quick walk down the hill.
Some of the furniture in the room needs updating.

Views and room are amazing. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Food was excellent but not if you are vegetarian or vegan. Private onsen was amazing. Loved the traditional pyjamas and evening wear supplied
Very pricey...spent same on one night here as a full weeks accommodation in osaka.

Beautiful surroundings. Beautiful room - the private Onsen was great.
Really nice authentic and traditional experience.
Friendly helpful staff
Delicious and adventurous meal included with our stay.
Unfortunately for us the tatami mats were not a comfy night's sleep!

nothing, it was all amazing

Beautiful hotel and felt very luxurious. very comfortable futons and we loved the open air bath. The staff were lovely and very helpful.
We didn’t enjoy the dinner or breakfast and a lot of food was wasted which was a shame. The kids meal was pretty terrible- cold spaghetti and rice and omelette with tomato sauce on it. It would have been nice to have been given more choice so we didn’t waste so much food. Overall it was not good value and I wouldn’t recommend.

The private onsen was fantastic, clean and had a great view. The breakfast and dinner service was absolutely delicious. The hotel staff go above and beyond to make sure you feel like a valued patron.
Room service was quite expensive and very very very tiny complaint was the bottle opener that was provided with the room was extremely dulled out. Was able to request for a new one.

Very nice ryokan in Hakone Yumoto, great location - bus stop for Hakone Yumoto station and, more importantly, Lake Ashi is on its door step. Very nice breakfast and Kaiseki dinner served in private rooms. Room is traditional Japanese but overall hotel has many style influences from Bali - as advertised in the name of the establishment. This made us want to both redo the experience of a traditional Japanese ryokan and travel to Bali! Staff are very helpful.
everything was nice.

The food is served in a very efficient way. They have designed the hotel with two floors of divided individual rooms with a corridor in front of them which the staff serve the food. I have not see this before and the way Japan is converting to robots to deliver food. I would imagine that some day this corridor which staff use is replacecd by Robots. Being in Japan a long time and the decreasing population, I found this to be cleaver
The food is mediocre. The onsen is owned by a large company that centralizes where they produce the food. Again, I admiere the efficencny of running the onsen. The food is nothing special, but I found it adequate

private outdoor bath was very nice
rooms were nice but you could tell the infrastructure and materials used in the facilities were clunky and of poor quality. Staff was polite but not well trained, and food was partially undercooked. very few amenities provided (e.g. no slippers in the room, had to carry out own towels from room to downstairs onsen)

It has your own on-sen
The food was not good, even though they said it says traditional Japanese food, their food felt like rubber and its been made before hand and it wasn't fresh. The bed that we were expecting, and it says on the website was tatami beds, yet we slept on mattresses that was laid out on the floor. The floors are not clean, it looks like stained and dirty.
The Bathrooms are small and very very dark. They don't clean the bathroom very well. The housekeeping was really bad.
There were no chairs inside the room, most of the time you need to sit on the floor. It's not nice to be sitting on the floor for long periods of time. They only provide one kind of pillow, which the pillows are very painful, they are hard as a rock because they put rocks inside the pillows which there wasn't any alternative pillow to choose from.
The location is bed, there's no taxi, if you need a taxi you need to book one hour before hand even then there's no taxi that comes at all then you are left with waiting for the bus. the bus arrives every 50 minutes to 1 hour.
More importantly we have asked to book Massage on the day of but they have informed us that it's been fully booked and so we have asked to book the massage the following day which they said we cannot book till that day in the morning.
which we did, we booked right at 8am, after they have called us while we are out to confirm the booking which they did, and we have answered to confirm the booking. later that night they end up telling us they are fully booked again. when we have a reservation for massage confirmed. I question their blankets. They seemed to be using the same blankets again and again without washing them. The closet space is very very small. Theres constantly no one in the front desk, the concierge is bad they don't give the right directions. When asked to speak with someone who knows English, they still don't know English. You must have a translator app on hand.

The personal hot spring in the room was the highlight of this hotel. Comfortable and convenient. The staff were also really great and friendly.
The dinner menu and food wasn’t great. The idea behind it was fantastic, 10 course menu for each person, but the portions were too big and flavour lacked. In a country that hates not wasting food, they should manage this.
