Funky cozy beach cottage 1 block from beach. Had everything we needed including nice touch amenities like extra poop bags for dogs and plenty of shampoo, hand soap, dish detergent for a comfortable stay. Beds were comfortable as well.

John's place was a highlight of our roadtrip. It was decorated for the holidays with Christmas lights and a tree! He let us know when the property was available to check-in early and didn't rush us to check-out. John was very responsive in our communications and had a great guide book! I'd highly recomend Obstinant Daughter and R Kitchen as our favorite places to eat.

This bungalow was great!! Some of the other reviews say about how outdated it is.... Its 1940's people. It has so much Character and we loved it.. Beautiful area!! The pool and hot tub is a plus, even know it was a little chill out the week we went down. Would stay again!!

Loved everything about this house. Clean, had everything we could ask for. Loved the roof top deck, the pool and the out door shower was amazing. I could go on and on.

House was perfect for my husband and I and our dog. Loved the back yard, pool and roof deck! First time in the area but easy walk to beach and experienced a tropical storm! That was an event but John was responsive when electricity went out during storm, reported it and shortly came back on! Would love to visit the area again and hoping without a tropical storm the next time! Nice neighborhood and enjoyed our stay!

The trees and landscaping are beautiful and made for great shaded areas around the pool and outdoor seating in the back yard. Perfect for privacy and relaxing.
Very comfortable home, charming and nicely kept.

Great house not too far from the beach. The pool, hot tub and roof top deck made the outdoors our favorite place to be! The inside was clean, comfortable and had all the amenities we needed! We had a great stay!

This was a great house, with a great rooftop view, close to the beach, and easy golf-cart drive to shops and restaurants nearby. We'd definitely stay again!

Great location and has everything needed for a great vacation. The house is in need of some TLC, especially the stairs to the rooftop and the kitchen needs to be stocked but Harris Teeter had most of what we needed. Otherwise great place.

Our family enjoyed this property- it has a lot of charm and is in a perfect location. The pool and hot tub was a bonus!

We had a blast at the house! Easy to get to, communication was great, everything was clean and tidy. Loved that so much was already there for us already - really made the travel and the beach time simple and enjoyable. This was a wonderful trip and our adult group of 7 ages 19 - 50. Convenient to get everywhere we wanted in Charleston to walk the 5min to the beach.

Wonderful location. House was clean and located in a beautiful neighborhood close to the beach. We loved that we could bring our dog! John was quick to respond to any of our questions. We hope to visit again soon!

We had a great stay. Cute beach bungalow that easily accommodated all 7 of us. Grilled out every night, swam in the pool and hot tub, and went to the beach. This beach is truly a hidden gem. Not crowded at all, velvety sand, perfect for walking or even biking, clean for swimming and sun bathing, beautiful shells, just stunning!! Our VRBO host was extremely attentive, John definitely goes above and beyond expectations. We had a lovely stay and were all sad to leave this sweet paradise.

I honestly did not think that the pictures online did the home justice. It was a great stay for family and friends.

This 1940s bungalow is well maintained and charming. Bear in mind you are not going to find the modern conveniences such as huge bedrooms and numerous outlets for the techies, but the kitchen and bathrooms have been renovated and are very nice. The owners are staying true to the original design which I think is refreshing. It had everything we needed, was the perfect size for our group and the kitchen was well equipped for cooking. They also provided the little things, soap, shampoo and beach towels - the items we sometimes forget. The house is in a great location for beach access and walking distance to the Boathouse, a great local gem of restaurant. The backyard oasis is amazing, so secluded, private and lush. The pool was a hit with the kids and the hot tub has a view of the water. Isle of Palms is beautiful and close to other fun places such as Shem Creek and of course, downtown Charleston. The owner is super nice, responsive from the time of reservation to checkout. We would definitely rent from him, again. Thanks for everything, John!

Great property for our group.

The house IS NOT a generic beach house. It has character galore. Additionally, the heated pool and hot tub made the perfect vacation spot for a family of 6.
The beach is an easy 3 minute walk, so we spent our time split between the backyard pool and the ocean. We would love to come back!

What a wonderful property! The bungalow is close to everything and so convenient. Everything we could possibly need was available to us. The decor is darling, pool is wonderful, and rooftop deck a delight. Thank you so much for being a pet friendly property. The dogs had as much fun as we did. John was readily available and responded to our texts so quickly. Love love love this place and even saw local Steven Colbert at the bait and tackle shop in town! Nothing could be more perfect than this piece of heaven in Isle of Palms. The worst part was my husband having to drag my body out of the house in time for checkout! Thanks John! We will be back!

the home was very comfortable, rooms were great for everyone. we enjoyed sitting on the roof deck and just relaxing. walking to the beach and letting the kids run around was great, and there were dolphins 50 yards away which the kids loved. the kitchen was legitimately fully stocked which was nice. overall I would highly recommend this property.

I loved this property. Yes, it’s dated, but that’s part of the charm. The pool area is a true oasis! The manager always answered questions in a timely manner. Would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed our girls weekend, and John was a great host! He was very responsive when we had an issue with the internet/DVD player. The house is very comfortable and rustic, but the renovations are nice! It was cold so we didn’t spend much time outside but the spa was very nice. There were plenty of towels and the beds were comfy but it was a little difficult to plug in electronics in places that made sense, just due to the older wiring. The walk to the beach was easy, and the beach is gorgeous. Overall a very enjoyable stay!

It was perfect for a small get together celebrating with Our Citadel Seniors! Lots of space and ocean views and sounds from the deck!

John was available for any questions and response time was excellent!

It was unusually cold for our visit, so the family loved the hot tub. Which was nice as it was too cold for the pool, so glad we had that option.
Several cosmetic issues such as door knobs, misc items. When brought to owners attention he was quick to respond and offered to come out and fix the issues right away. We opted to live with it for the short time we were there. Definitely an older home so take that into consideration on your expectations, as you will see from other reviews
The property is in a great location and an easy walk to the beach. The ocean is visible from the roof top deck. Had this been in the summer, I’m sure it would have been an awesome house to relax and have a great time by the pool and roof top.
Lots of amenities such as beach towels, chairs and umbrellas. There were many dolphins at the bridge by the boathouse. Check on both sides of the bridge so be sure to check it out if you stay here.

We had so much fun at this house! It was perfect for our family! Very comfy, very clean, the hot tub and pool were def the highlight! The owner even let us stay an additional night bc the weather was pretty nasty our first 2 nights! Owner john is excellent! We rented a golf cart and had the time of our lives!

The owner graciously offered for us to shift our stay because of Hurricane Ian. We had flights booked so decided to come and start our "girls" getaway. We had a few hurricane related issues but owner was very responsive. This is for sure a comfy beach getaway, not luxurious but great location and has a ton of charm! Would definite return! Thank you for your southern hospitality!

Met the needs of our stay for myself, boyfriend and dog. Property was in a perfect location and within walking distance to great eatery’s and beach.

We loved the property. Very nice, comfortable, well stocked. A couple of things, the gate going to hot tub is broke, the threshold going in the front door is loose, it wobbles, and nearly sent me head first down the stairs. And the lip around the pool, I’m not sure what to do, other than to tell people to be careful. Overall, we loved it. We plan on coming back! Thank you.

I have never left a bad review on a vacation rental before but I cannot in good conscience stay silent on this...
I’ll start off with the only positive about this place, the pool. It was nice.
Everything else about this house was awful. The water and ice machine on the refrigerator were broken. The separate ice maker was FULL of black mold. The dryer door had to be propped closed with an old broomstick. Someone came to “fix it” but it still needed to be hoisted up to close properly. Half the door knobs on the loud, creaky doors were broken. The rooms are incredibly small. The air vents had mold in them. The wiring situation is completely unsafe. There are just power strips with a million things plugged into them dangling from the walls. Yes, it’s an older home but it’s not that difficult or costly to add more electrical outlets to the walls. The bathtub had nasty yellow stains all over it, I felt horrible having to bath my baby in it but there was no other option. I wish I could upload photos to this review so you could see how dirty everything was.
When I brought my concerns to the owner his response was “I advertise it as an older home built in 1944.” And that he had more expensive properties we could rent. Which was a very inconsiderate response. He offered no apology and did not try to make it right. The only thing he did was drop off a cheap case of water and a bag of ice. An older home is no excuse to allow unsanitary and unsafe conditions. I’ve been in homes built in the late 1800s that were maintained infinitely better than this shack.
Please, I beg you. If you are looking at this listing KEEP SEARCHING. Spend your money elsewhere, this place is not worth it.

We’ve stayed here a few times with the family (3 kids + dogs) and always have a great time. John is responsive when we need him, and usually we don’t. The pool and beach proximity are the value drivers here and what makes this place amazing for the price. There are of course some compromises, but nothing that detracts from a fun family vacation. Best value on this side of the island! Looking forward to visiting again next year!

This is a beautiful beach cottage that offers you access to the best beach on IOP, close to shops and restaurants on Sullivans Island, and a pool in the back yard for an evening swim. It was the perfect spot for our family.

Had a great stay in the house. The pool and hot tub were terrific. Very short walk to the beach. Easy drive to downtown Charleston. Plenty of dining options both on the island and a short drive.

Great value….
We loved the amenities of this property. Hot tub on the cooler rainy days, nice size saltwater pool for cooling of, rooftop deck for snoozing outdoors at night, gas grill and outdoor seating area sheltered by palm trees and umbrella. The air conditioning kept the place very cool and the beds were very comfortable as well. Outdoor shower and water hose allowed for rinsing off after beach visits. In summary we had all we needed and more.
It should be noted that this property isn’t brand new and one must be satisfied with the charm of an old school beach house with a cabin feel, not a polished contemporary beach retreat. We were staying there with 8 guests which made it a little tight around the kitchen table. We did have a person in a wheel chair. The owner did not claim that the property was handicap accessible, but we were able to make due. The master bathroom could be accessed by wheelchair through the Queen bedroom, not however, from the hallway. Our elderly grandmother did need assistance in doing so tho. We also carried the chair up a set of stairs to reach the living level. The owners are also very dog friendly and we appreciated being able to bring our entire family on this vacation
