Situated in Charlotte, this lovely house for $280 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. Off season special (November through April) Pay for four nights and the fifth night is free! Mile View is a cottage built on the shores of the beautiful and private Mountain Island Lake. Much of this lake is parklands, wildlife, sanctuaries and properties restricted from development. This home was built in 1952 by Ben Douglas, long time Charlotte Mayor and name sake of the Charlotte Douglas Airport. It was common at that time for Charlottes wealthier residents to have little lake cabins for vacation homes This cabin has provided decades of lakefront fun and fishing. Inside and out the place looks very much like it did in 1952. Years ago the house was divided into two separate apartments. In 2011 we converted the upstairs into a vacation rental. We provide high speed wireless wifi, flat screen TV's, comfortable furniture but you can get most of that at a Holiday Inn. The unique experience you get with a stay here is that little step back in time. It starts when you pull in to the skinny gravel drive and end up at a plain but well kept mid-century home. There are paneled walls unit a/c and no dishwasher. No subdivision, no pool, no tennis courts. There are only two other neighbors. There is a 1 bed room unit below that is also available for rent(.VRBO 453657) Unless you plan on renting both units you should be planning a quiet stay. Prior guests that have most enjoyed Mile View spend much of their time on the screened porch overlooking the lake. Mile View was built right on the lake's shoreline. You are so close to the boats going by you can see right inside them. At night when they cruise by you could truly join in their conversation. The place is very popular and in our decade of leasing it we have had close to 1000 guests. In that time we have learned that Rosella is not for everyone. We have tried our best to accurately describe the "experience." If that slow paced step back in time is not what you are looking for you may not enjoy Mile View, if on the other hand, you would like to relive the way things used to be or experience it for the first time we don't think you will be disappointed. We look forward to your arrival. There is a rental boat service right at the dock.. Rental fee is discounted $50 per day for guests. ( Retail is 350 to 450 per day.) This rate is lower than the going rate in the area. Boat rental is scheduled and operated separately from the vacation rental. It is strongly advised that you reserve it prior to your stay. A security deposit and application is required in advance. FYI The hot tub, fire pit and dock are all in common areas. There is a small family of feral cats that live on the property. They are very sweet and will steer clear of you but may look in a window. We feed them and built them a couple of apartments. Perfect for my daughter and granddaughter to share time with mammaw. The location was so close to the aquarium and downtown Science Discovery. We enjoyed watching the rowing teams practice and all the other boats out on the lake. Everyone wants to come back again!

We spent Christmas with our grandson at the lake house was extremely comfortable for us. Enjoyed the lake view immensely. My grandson wants to come back in the summer sometime so he can utilize jumping off the dock. The host was very accommodating with suggestions in the area, as well as coming and unlocking us promptly when we locked ourselves out….we highly recommend to anyone and if in fact we ever come back to this side of the country would love to book again.

The place is exactly what is shown in pictures. Unbelievable! The view of the water is perfect especially at night. Hot tub is clean. The host Bob responds quickly and is polite. I would definitely come back again it’s worth the stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. The view of the lake was wonderful and the place is quiet and well appointed. We enjoyed the jacuzzi. It is close to restaurants and grocery. I would definitely return if I visit Charlotte again.

We met the owners in passing who were absolutely amazing and friendly as can be. The place was gorgeous with a back porch that has amazing sunrises!!! Highly recommend setting an alarm and some coffee, definitely made me miss the coast living, haha. The fire pit area they have is awesome and huge. You can have the whole family or group sitting around it toasty as can be. The double door oven was also a nice touch! Me and my brother already agreed if we come back down here next year, we 110% are coming right back. The best word i can sum the stay we had here is simply lovely. Thank you guys SO MUCH for making our vacation memories that much more, well memorable!

We had a wonderful time. The view was fantastic and we saw all kinds of wild life including a River otter, deer, ducks, cats, and fish. It was so clean, quaint, and peaceful. Bob was very easy to work with and communication was great. Next time we need to be in the Charlotte area, we hope to stay here again.

Very beautiful location. Quiet and peaceful. Accommodations clean and comfy. Owner cares for a few neighborhood cats ❤️ they wouldn't let me pet them this time but hoping to come back and try again 😊🐈🐈‍⬛. Would definitely book here again! Thank you for sweet place to stay for our short weekend!

We loved the house and the view of the lake. Only complaint, completely out of the home owners' control was the construction noise on the lot next door at 7 am on a Saturday morning. You would think they could wait until everyone has had coffee! The rooms were clean and comfortable. Be sure to bring your own body wash though, that was a first for us, so we had to run to the store. No biggie just be prepared. There's a Harris teeter, Starbucks and other restaurants very close by. We would definitely stay there again. Thanks so much!

Love the location absolutely beautiful! Mornings with coffee on the balcony looking at the sunrise, wine at night for sunset! We made some friends with the Kitty cats every morning coming to say hi and the dog next door. Very quaint We would definitely stay here again.

My friends and I stayed for a child free Mothers Day weekend. This place did not disappoint! Beautiful view. Very well stocked with pots and pans and even some spices. We had a great time using the hot tub and enjoyed the peace and quiet. We will definitely try to come back!

We enjoyed our stay! House was very clean ! Just wish we could have used the hottub. Our unit is on the second floor and with the hot tub being on the first floors balcony it's in eyeview of whoever is staying in that unit so felt we would l disturb whoever stayed there. The hot tub is right in front of that person's windows. Bummed we couldn't use it since those people were in bed very early. Other than that highly recommend this peaceful lake property!

we extended my wife's business trip by a couple days to take a break. we could not have been happier with our choice of properties. The place is peaceful and just what we were hoping for. We had the upstairs unit. the view from the screened in porch was exceptional. we got the opportunity to meet the owners. They are were very engaging and by the end of the conversation, the impression was, they are exceptional people. This is a five star location relative to the exact description the owner's provide. if you are looking for a lavish Westin hotel then this probably isn't for you. if you are looking for an awesome, quiet, peaceful place to relax. stay here! we will be back.

We loved staying here! Great place if you're looking for a casual, lakeside rental, with optional boat rental (weather wasn't awesome for us so we couldn't partake), within easy driving distance to hiking & Charlotte. Reliable & fast internet access (I had to work a bit while here), friendly roaming cats. The hot tub on the porch of the bottom level is a nice option---keep in mind a different family could be renting the bottom portion of the house. We would love to come back again when warmer and we can take full advantage of lakeside living!

Bob was great with making sure we had everything we needed and checked in mid stay as well. Loved the cozy cute cottage vibes and views are so nice. We took the paddle boats out to check out the lake and it’s very nice they supply those. Definitely recommend!

This was definitely as described and more! The pictures don't do it justice. This is such a cute place and so nice to get away. So peaceful especially if you need to just relax. Watching the sunrise with a cup of coffee on the screened in porch was just what we needed. The place was beautiful and spotless and the scenery was beautiful. Bob was also especially nice to work with when messaging and quick to answer. I will definitely be booking again!

Bob and his fabulous lakeside stay always makes for a perfect weekend away. It's clean, cozy, modern, perfectly laid out. The grill/pit smoker is amazing. The kayaks are a blast. The beds and pillows are very comfortable! We love getting to know the local cats which reside around the place. Bob is generous and an expert in hospitality. We've been here three times and will be back.

We both grew up in Charlotte and were visiting from out of town for Christmas with our infant and two dogs. As mentioned, apartment was very serene. Had any amenities most guests would need, including, notably, laundry. Beware of many cats on property! They are very very sweet, but were unexpected (I could have missed it in description though). Our dogs got very excited about them, though. Location was not quite as private as we might like. Looks like there are many small rentals on one property, but the sunrise over the lake made up for it. We didn’t feel comfortable using the hot tub, as it was right outside the downstairs apartment where there were other guests. While not central in Charlotte, proximity to 485 was ideal. This would be a perfect spot for people visiting the whitewater center.

Bob was a pleasure to deal with as well as Kim who takes care of things and feeds the outdoor cats. The kayaks were awesome and the view is beautiful and the hot tub is spotlessly clean.
