Cabin was better than we could have ever imagined! Restoration was amazing and the quiet simple atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for. We will definitely be back!

Extraordinary property. The small and sometimes whimsical detail in restoration was a joy to discover. We stayed for our anniversary and will return. The owner clearly furnished the cabin with items that truly felt like being at home. Even had Band-Aids which I needed upon my arrival (another story).

We can not say enough good things about this beautiful historic log home. It sits on acres of quiet scenic nature where you can walk trails thru the hilly woods or walk to their reflective lake and just be in peacefulness every where you go. The owners have taken great care in maintaining their property and decorating the home with unique interesting pieces. You will also see some of the owners artwork which add an interesting touch. The owners are also wonderful hosts. We received a call welcoming us once we arrived and another when leaving to thank us for staying. Fresh fruit, eggs, muffins, juice, milk and snacks were also provided for our stay. The owners have taken great care in providing a relaxing, clean & beautiful place to stay for their guests and it is obvious a labor of love. The log home is also only 20 to 25 minutes from all the tourist spots and very easy to get to.
A few things to know is the wifi is very slow, which was not an issue for us because we wanted to disconnect from the world. Also you may lose cell connection 5 min before arriving so screen shot your directions.
We will definitely love to stay here again.

Maybe I haven’t looked enough but where else can you find a place this unique? A log cabin to stay in, lake to fish, boat or swim, recreation area, woods to explore, quiet to relax…all on private property. I know state parks and public areas hold these same amenities but so do hundreds of other people, and they are there with you. So if you want a place like this, look no further.
From my wife’s perspective…The cabin was beautifully decorated, gorgeous and serene with attention to details.

We stayed two days in the cabin. The owners constructed the cabin from a structure built nearly 200 years ago on another site. They did a wonderful job, using materials from old barns to help put it together. It's quite solid and comfortable.
There's a main floor with a bedroom by the entry way, with a kitchen/dining area and a small television/conversation area. The main bedroom is on the second floor over the first-floor bedroom, up a winding staircase you need to be a bit careful about. There's a loft-sleeping area overlooking the kitchen and dining area, but that's accessed by a ladder and many people wouldn't want to go up there.
The kitchen is fully equipped. The owners provide some basics, and leave some snacks and cereals as well as a nice breakfast (eggs, muffins) in the refrigerator. They live in a house on the property and make themselves available for questions.
The property is beautiful. They have three rental properties, spaced quite a distance apart, on more than 100 acres. There's a five-acre lake in the middle, with paddle-boats, a kayak, a canoe, a rowboat and plenty of lifejackets. There are also walking trails. It's very quiet out there.
Our time on the property was quite peaceful. It is a long way from anything. I'm not the one to review Amish Country, though. Hard to believe it could be so commercial and kinda gross. We ended up just going home after it was time to leave the cabin because another afternoon in that area seemed too tedious.

Started and ended each day with watching the deer off the front porch. It was a struggle to get around to go into town because I didn’t want to leave the porch and miss the beautiful scenery and wildlife! The walk to the lake is short and very peaceful. The house is like going back in time to the simplicity of life. Extremely clean, and decorated to match that era which was so neat. It was fun just walking around the cabin looking at all of the history. The little touches were very thoughtful and appreciated!

The house and surrounding property are amazing. The log house itself true to it's roots, and the addition seamless. The house was immaculate and the hosts wonderful.

The property was exactly as promised. The weather was cold, (down to 9 degrees F), but the combination of the furnace and the fireplace made the entire house warm and cozy. the cabin is a truly beautiful balance between restoration and modernization. We walked and hiked in the surrounding woods all three days. A wonderful experience. We look forward to returning.

The cabin itself is amazing. We absolutely love the detail that went into . The only complaint we have was the heat was not working properly when we were there. We were expecting a cozy cabin. But it was only 62° in the cabin. The second day, the owners did get back with us and had a heating company come out. It was then we found out. This is the third time in three years they’ve had a heating issue. The heating contractor was very sweet and left us with two space heaters. So by bedtime on Saturday, we were able to get the cabin up to 70° , Only to wake up with the cabin back down to 63°. We realize things like this happen! But when you’re paying that kind of money to stay somewhere , it’s kind of frustrating. (We were offered another place to stay Saturday , but at that point, we didn’t want to move our stuff and didn’t know anything about the place that was being offered.) would have rather been refunded some of our stay.

We looked and looked for a cabin in the woods to spend New Years weekend in. A cabin with character. Not a prefab cabin with a hot tub, but a cabin, cabin. When I saw the listing for this cabin, I couldn't believe it was real. When we arrived and stepped into the cabin, it was like stepping into the past with modern day amenities. The phone rang and it was the host. He made sure to make us feel welcome and wanted us to be sure that they were available for anything we needed. The hosts provided eggs, orange juice, muffins and snacks. It was completely private and the hosts were a short distance away. The fireplace was amazing and was a must for us. It did not disappoint. The old repro Christmas tree lit up and made the main room extra cozy. The whole cabin was very detailed to the 1800s history, had beautiful artwork and camouflaged the modern amenities. The hosts did an amazing job with this property. I Highly recommend anyone who is a history buff or someone who has great taste in architecture and design to stay there. We did some exploring of Amish country and that also did not disappoint. We were also able to hike as the weekend was unusually warm for that time of year. The grounds are amazing. Our teenage boys were so impressed with their stay for New Years that we plan on staying in the summer months to take advantage of the lakes and the hiking.

I can not tell you enough how fantastic this place is and the host. Above and beyond. I will be going back for sure. It was perfect for what we wanted plus a actual wood burning fireplace inside. Very clean, breakfast was provided and total piece and quite nestled in the woods. Love, love, love!!!!

If you’re looking for a quiet place to getaway from all the “noise” of everyday life, this cabin is the place for you. The cabin has rustic charm with all the modern conveniences. My husband and I spent our anniversary here and we enjoyed walking the property, taking the row boat and the paddle boat out on the pond, and sitting together by the fireplace. With all the windows in the cabin, natural light is plentiful and the views are spectacular. I imagine a stay at this cabin in any season would be delightful. Doug and Jennifer are gracious hosts and we would not hesitate to stay here again.

This log home was amazing, beautiful, dreamy and time period perfect. From the minute I walked in I felt like I was home. The log faces were amazing, some 16 inches wide! The kitchen addition beams were impressive as well all the way up to the pegged rafters. The furnishings completed the ambiance in the home. And the fireplace was incredibly impressive. I'm curious if it was a rebuild from the original fireplace in the home when it was restacked. The lintel stone is huge and helps frame the fireplace so beautifully. That was my favorite place to sit enjoying just looking at the beautiful logs by firelight. This isn't just a place to stay it is an experience and I hope to return for another stay.

This place is surrounded with beautiful trees, pounds and lots and lots of nature. It is a rustic old cabin that just makes you want to unplug and relax. It was about 1/2 out from our other destinations, which we knew in advance. Would stay again. Beautiful! Just Beautiful! Well designed and comfortable too!

Everything went smoothly. The owners and host's luve close and were super friendly and accommodating. A beautiful light cabin on a beautiful property. We hiked and went out on the lake on a peddle boat and just relaxed. Walking through the woods and by our own little campfire in evening. Doug Jenn & brother Mike were great host's asking every time we saw them if we needed anything and if everything was okay.

Rustic two story cabin off the beaten path. If you want a place to get away from stress for a while, this is your place. Serene, peaceful, beautiful. Although not listed under amenities, there is a tabby cat that will keep you company while sitting on the porch relaxing. We did spend the days in Sugarcreek and Berlin, I wish we had spent more time at the cabin. Thankyou Doug and Jennifer for a wonderful stay !!

We needed a quiet weekend away but on short notice didn't want to drive too far. This cabin was about an hour away and gave us a nice private weekend to unplug. We spent the day by the pond swimming, reading and napping and the evenings on the porch with a bottle of wine enjoying the peace and quiet.

This property embodies peacefulness. The woods are full of wood thrushes (at this time of year) and house wrens and many other birds; the eternal drone of highway traffic is absent; the air is cool and clean. And the restoration of the cabin is a work of art as well as of craftsmanship. Terrific!

Doug and Jennifer are thoughtful, hospitable and extremely talented people. They called us shortly after arriving to see if we needed anything or had any questions. They provided breakfast for our stay. The craftsmanship of the cabin is amazing!!!! We were greeted by Tiger, the friendliest cat and had a doe walk pass the cabin every day. Along with all this, we were within short driving distance to Amish shopping.
