Clean room, great staff, and lovely breakfast.
6.0
Great location for my needs.
Plenty of car parking.
Comfy bed
The room was beyond 'tired' and not worth the money I paid irrelevant of the price.
Poor maintenance; old decor, furniture which should have been removed years ago.
To put a paying guest in that standard of room shows poor management and a lack of attention to standards and to guest comfort.
The standard of maintenance in the bathroom was beyond poor. Clearly the maintenance team think a shoddy job is acceptable.
Room pictures on hotel websites never show the worst room - the management should be embarrassed at letting this room.
If the management need a hint....its room 414!

Being away from the hotel, there was not much to like about the hotel, except it was nice and quiet
Room was upgraded on night of arrival
Rude staff
Room not cleaned
Attitude of reception, older couple were complaining whilst we went up and they were spoken to sarcastically. We just went out as it was obvious we would receive the same attitude yet again.
Although room upgraded, it was dirty, and the bedding on one side of our bed had tiny black dots.

Impressive Grade 11 listed building
Near to tram and bus stops, or a 10/15 minute walk into town.
Good food, friendly helpful staff, comfy bed, bathroom ok. Nice toiletries
Lack of ventilation in the room. Must get really hot in summer.
Inconsiderate noisy people in the small hours.

It was really great value for money, you couldn't fault it for the price. The common areas are really beautiful, it's interesting to stay in such an old building that has been wonderfully kept. Be aware that although it says it has parking, you have to pay for this and it is £9. I'm sure you can find free parking in the local area however.

Not a lot
Overpriced, then you have to pay for parking, then you have to pay for breakfast, it's really not good value for money, upon arrival I entered my room and it absolutely reaked of sewer waste of some sort, as if a bad fart was lingering, I opened a window the whole two inches you can open them but the smell did not go, I had to ask to be moved to another room.

Sea view
First room was too small and claustrophobic. Had to pay to upgrade. No cups, tea , coffee etc in the room. Had to go to the reception. Netflix on to in first room, not in upgraded room. Constant problems with keycard.

We like where the hotel is situated, the tram across the road and breakfast is good.
We were given a very small room with a dingy bathroom with no window but eventually after complaining we were given a decent room. This hotel could be amazing, needs refurbishing.

Beautiful iconic hotel. The staff were very welcoming, professional and helpful.
Comfortable bed and the food in the lovely restaurant was very good.
Although we had a very nice sea view room sadly the furnishings were tired and worn.
The bedrooms definitely need a little TLC.

Car parking should be free for hotel residents.

Seafront location. Historic building with lovely features.
Tatty in places eg threadbare carpet in our room , hot water tap didn’t work. One bottle of water for two people for two nights. Was told something special would be arranged for my mums 80th birthday but there wasn’t anything.

The decor and staff
We were facing onto the back and being 1 up we were looking at a lot of debris on the roof

Wonderful old hotel. Staff were good. Breakfast was excellent.
Parts of the room were tired and in need of a refresh. Nevertheless it is still a wonderful old hotel.

The Imperial Hotel still remains an excellent building, with some beautiful features inside, food was okay and staff were lovely , location good.
Rooms are needing a makeover and there was an unpleasant stink coming from a room across from ours which we reported. Pool was closed down during covid which was understandable but when enquiring this stay we were informed that it and the gym will not be reopening, this unfortunately is not taken into account with their pricing so the facilities have changed but price remains the same as also found £9 per night a bit pricey for their parking as we have both got blue badges but are expected to pay full price and unfortunately the car parks are too far away from hotel that we can use free.

I booked an extra night to tag onto the Christmas package that I had booked with my large extended family over 23rd - 27th December, so first I will review that.
The room I was put in for this one night was not great. Old soft mattress, smelt strange, and black mould around the window (I only noticed this in the middle of the night when I developed an allergic reaction and had to look for the source reason).
This hotel is a beautiful historic building that just needs an injection of cash for sure, but there are certain things that cost next to nothing to do, and cleaning black mould from around a window is definitely one of them.
The next day I moved into the room that I was to be in for the Christmas period and it was much nicer, but then had to switch again, as the windows were literally shaking and with a huge draft whistling very loudly through the huge gaps in the window. Again, fitting draft excluders and wooden wedges to keep the windows from shaking in the winter period is NOT costly, and really should be attended to as part of their maintenance.
The final room I ended up in ( after having to literally go down to reception and specify the exact room i wanted) was great! Comfortable and with modern windows that didn't shake and a lovely sea view. Gifts from the hotel were left in the room several times which was really sweet touch.
Staff are on the whole LOVELY, apart from one younger man who I will not name in the spirit of kindness.
Basically this place needs some basic love and maintenance.
Food was great when we first arrived, but as the hotel filled up, the food standard declined.
I would definitely come back again for Christmas as it was alot of fun at times, but I would very much need to specify the room I was in ahead of time to avoid being kept awake with any of the above issues.

The amazing history you can see throughout the hotel the staff were brilliant the breakfast was really nice and plentiful you can also have afternoon tea but we were too late to book this but will definitely go back and try the afternoon tea
The rooms were a little outdated but we expected that for the age of the building and the price we paid

We had breakfast in room and it was much bigger than we thought it would be you had a card to fill in night before so I imagine I did the card wrong but was a great breakfast.

Transported back in time in this lovely place.
Food and service were fabulous.
Parking charge of £9 per night. Bed smaller than I’m used to, so didn’t sleep particularly well.

The breakfast was very nice & plenty full. The staff were all lovely & helpful. The sheets were crisp & clean. The mattress was good & nice pillows.
The Imperial Hotel is a grade 2 listed building with a lot history. The entertainment rooms are beautiful decorated.
My room was very hot. Couldn’t turn the radiator down. The view from the window was an outside dirty looking area, cigarette butt on the window bottom. The white towels were old looking & had stains on them.
The room/bathroom was old & drab looking. All rooms need a makeover.

Nothing really that I can say I didn’t like prices ok for everything service charge for room service £5 which can expect as it’s making them go out of there way when they can be sorting other things out around the hotel
