Convenient for anything we wanted to do in newton stewart. The staff weee all really friendly and helpful through your stay. Food from the restaurant both for dinner and breakfast was top notch.
Nothing, the shower room/toilet was maybe a little on the dated side but was clean and worked as it should so absolutely no complaints.

Good restaurant, clean rooms, nice staff
We had a very small room with low ceiling that we haven’t booked. The bad was small and in a little niche, with no space on the sides. The room was like an attic, all over roof slopes. This room shouldn’t been the price like the other rooms and the room that was advertised in booking.

The location was almost centre of the main town and was only a short walk to the town and shops and local facilities. There was a restaurant within and the food was lovely. Breakfast was cooked freshly and couldn't fault it. Staff were friendly and went above and beyond to meet our requests.
I can't pick put any faults

The breakfast was lovely and so was the service.
The bar shut before 9:00 p.m. When I book a hotel I always check to see if there is a bar so we can have a drink after a long day out and before bed. We got back at just before 9:00 p.m. and told that they had just shut it down.

Everything. Worst accommodation ever stayed in. There was very few staff to help with anything needed. Property up for sale maybe reason not interested. There was nowhere to sit to relax and only one chair in bedroom which was so limited space with no outlook. Definitely overpriced for this very poor accommodation!!

Staff were very helpful and friendly. Food at the restaurant was very good with quick service.
Unfortunately it was located right across from the cattle market which affected our sleep due to the noise. Also the awkwardness of having to pass through a birthday party in the function room to access our room. Shower head was also very unclean in both rooms.

The Crown was a great stay, lovely staff, nice loacation if you want some stunning, secluded woodland walks with waterfalls and the like. I loved that I could travel with my dogs without extortionate extra fees, they had 2 little grassy areas nearby for wee wees and free parking. Breakfast had decent variety and even as a gluten free vegan, I had opions for dinners and dessert. Every member of staff I encountered was friendly, helpful and welcoming. Can't fault a thing.
The only thing I actually didn't enjoy was the proximity of my room and the hotel to the cattle market, meaning I got to listen to distressed, screaming cows for 24 hours, which was a little unsettling for both me and one of my dogs was also made anxious by all the noise. This probably isn't a concern for most people, but it would be a consideration for me if I was to stay here again.
No complaints at all about the actual hotel. It's an old building so there's patchy wifi and the shower was a bit hard to control the temperature of, but that's all to be expected. Just glad there was wifi and a working, hot shower!

Food was very good (they need to make sure they keep their chef).
My bed was warm and comfy
The room was clean.
Staff were welcoming and friendly
Internet connection was poor; I received several passwords; that was confusing.
TV was not smart so I could not connect my tablet; I do not like this as watching what you have saved on your device helps create a home from home feel.
Toilet was difficult to flush
I was placed in room 4 which was right above the entrance. The windows were sash windows and wafer thin. Coupled with being located on a high street this made getting to sleep difficult.
When sitting down at breakfast I noticed there were 22 tables; if there are 22 rooms they need to consider if less is more (i.e. fewer rooms for guests to stay in but the remainder done better).

Breakfasts were good and well organised with plenty of variety. I had an evening meal in the restaurant which was very good and not expensive. The staff were helpful and the room clean and tidy with plenty of tea and coffee provision
My room was a little bit small with some steps down to the en-suite bathroom.

Beds were clean. Parking available. Food at night was lovely.
Shower in bathService in restraunt quite slow. Bar was closed but we didn't know this when booking. Apparently only opened on Saturday. Told we could have a drink in restraunt but last orders at 9.30pm. Restraunt closed at 10pm. We were there for husbands birthday. Shower over bath which was fine, but no handrails to hold onto. There was a note on wall if we needed to contact reception to use phone in room. No phone. Staff were pleasant. We went along to the Black Horse the next night to have a drink. This was a nice wee pub. Bedroom was small and overlooked a flat roof and wall. Noise from the kitchen? extractors ??. We didn't have breakfast the next morning. I was very sick during the night. Not sure what caused it. Husband was fine. Quite good value for the money we paid.
