Perfect. Great large comfortable appartment at nice quiet location near the town centre.

Dirty. Stained sheets. Dirty fridge and microwave. No hot water. Bath water was yellow. Lots of squashed spiders. TV did not work.
After 1 night we moved out and booked into a local hotel

It was spacious and the kitchen was well equipped. The flat was fantastically bright and had great original features. It was a spacious place for 6 friends to spend a lovely weekend.
It could do with a good deep clean. We had a little trouble with the shower getting hot water and when it rained heavily water dripped through the single bed ceiling!

Superb victorian apartment with loads of space.
If you ignore the cobwebs and dust on the picture rails then its a great apartment.

Very spacious, and the original features (window shutters, coving in the living room).
There were a lot of cobwebs above eye level, but probably hard to get to due to the height of the ceilings.

House is massive
Good kitchen
Front little garden
Very dusty
Living room sofas not really good for sleeping

the location of this property is fantastic, the size was also ideal for our family break. lovely features within the property. For us being dog friendly and a fenced garden was great.
This could be such a lovely apartment with some TLC bringing out all the beautiful traditional features. unfortunately the apartment wasn’t as clean as it really should be with dust, dead flies etc scattered around, dirty carpets, curtains and bedding/ mattresses. we were asked to pay an extra £20 for having a dog which I really grudged leaving on exiting the property given that it was already dirty on arrival. Having no tea towels or oven gloves made cooking a little bit of a challenge and wifi was pretty rubbish.

Nothing about the place it was very dirty I’ve got lots of pictures and I didn’t stay they very disappointed with this property the host didn’t seem that bothered

Really spacious, beautiful big rooms. Dog friendly, good shower and great location. Good parking too.
Furnishings are a bit tired. Mattresses are lumpy and hard and could do with at least decent toppers. The mattress in the main bedroom has spring wires sticking out. Better pillows would help too. Duvets were stained. There were a lot of cobwebs and dust around. Shame as it could be a really beautiful apartment with a bit of care and investment.

Excellent location with very impressive spacious interior. Beautifully decorated with loads of character and very comfortable.
Kitchen was very well appointed with ample space and equipment for all needs.
The views of the Eildon Hills and the huge sequoia tree in the front garden were outstanding.
Property was beautifully warm throughout our stay.
In the main bathroom, toilet flush was rather awkward to use and shower screen was not watertight allowing spray to drip onto the floor.
The shower itself was very powerful and was extremely easy to use.
Unfortunately the adjoining neighbour at No. 35 was quite rude and demonstrative over a small misunderstanding of the parking situation on our first night.
10.0
The amount of space and the huge beds.
Shower could do with an upgrade
1.0
springs in mattress in main bedroom and sofa bed protruding - most uncomfortable sleep ever.
window cords a health and safety issue for young children
shower screen inadequate meant leakage all over bathroom floor
dog poo in bag at front door for duration of stay
faulty bin needs replacing
multiple bulbs missing from lamps - property dark inside at night with poor lighting
multiple electrics exposed and dangling from kitchen ceiling
curtains missing from lounge and kitchen and torn curtains in other rooms
info provided by host dated 2013…

Fantastic huge apartment in a period property,5 minutes away from town. A few cobweb's in places but to be expected with such high ceiling's. Cannot fault the place. Fantastic couple of day's away.
Nothing to dislike.

Suited our family gathering very well. Useful garden for children to play in.
Bit nervous about the water damaged floor beside the shower.
Couldn't work the microwave.

lovely location, nice garden to eat outside, big rooms
the kitchen lacked some really basic things like tea towels and corkscrew. there was only 1 roll of toilet roll provided. It could be cleaner as there were spiderwebs everywhere! I really feel that by addressing these basic things the property would be perfect.
2.0
The location.
It was not clean, had a funny smell, the hot water kept running out, therfore forced to have a cold shower. The location was good though, but I wouldn't stay here again. Needs a lot of working doing and a good clean.

The apartment was decorated to a high standard and made very comfortable living quarters. The kitchen and bathroom had everything you required and lots of space. The location is within walking 🚶♀️ distance to the town and its quiet bars and restaurants. Melrose has lots of opportunities for going on a good walk with beautiful countryside.
It would have been good to have further instructions on how to light the gas fire in the living room as we visited in January and it did get a little chilly at night just because the room is so large.

Location was very good ,Melrose nice village one hour from Edinburgh ,Newcastle. Large apartment within a house rooms are massive and nicely decorated free wi-fi was nice and it worked ok . Gas fire was very nice . We had a great week here just before Christmas really nice of the host to put a tree up for us hope to stay again sometime.
just few bits and bobs need sorting out ,that hole in bathroom floor etc.

Everything, there is nothing not love about it. The location is great & less than a 5 mins walk into Melrose. The house itself is huge & has so much space, the central heating is brilliant & the place is always lovely & warm. The shower is just amazing & so powerful with plenty of hot water. The kitchen is huge & has all the mod cons with a big American style fridge freezer & double gas hobs & double electric ovens so this place easily caters for a large family or group of friends. There are beautiful views of the Eildons from the living room & from the kitchen & bedroom you have the most beautiful tree's outside to watch the wildlife; we loved watching the squirrel raiding the bird feeders. Everywhere was clean & tidy & parking on the gravel driveway was not a problem. We would not hesitate to recommend Eildonside & will definitely be back next year as it is the perfect hub to explore Melrose & the Borders.
Sure there are a few imperfections like a few bulbs being out & the kitchen mixer tap handle loose but please tell me who has a house which is 100% perfect all of the time. It really is hard to criticise this property esp when you realise how great value for money it is.

The size, period features and the private front garden .
We found the beds to be rather uncomfortable.

Wow the flat was huge, beautiful and very comfortable. The old tree in the garden was magnificent and a wonderful place to sit and relax.
Definitely a good base for sightseeing.

The apartment has lovely features and real character. It is in a great location with off street parking and a secure garage for bikes.
The kitchen was really well equipped.
The living room was super comfy and nice to relax in at the end of the day
For the price it was excellent
Bathroom a little tired. Leak overtime led to a hole next to the bath.

lovely big flat, comfy sofas, loads of space, great cooker and fridge freezer and nice big table n chairs in kitchen. I would definitely come back here again.
Fantastic tree in front garden we were awe struck
The windows need a refurb, couldnt open many cos the sashes were in poor state.
no kitchen foil or cling film.
Needs a bit of attention to detail for instance there were bulbs out and vent fronts off but overall i cant complain just needs a bit tlc

lots of room for our family ,very clean ,walking distance to the town restaurants etc..there is a lovely garden and overall a perfect place to stay to tour the border towns with a very helpful owner
there was nothing we didnt like about this property
5.0
the size, space and location
quite shaby, such a beautiful property, cleanliness wasn't great and smelt quite musty, and not enough seating outside, or it was rotten.
Sofa bed needs to be replaced or a mattress topper provided - was the most uncomfortable thing ever so very poor sleep, bathroom floor was spongy and broken next to bath - quite dangerous
various things that should be fixed and updated for the safety of the guests
