We stayed there for three days and for the first two days we were struggling to take a hot shower. The how water ran out after the first person took a 5 minutes shower and the rest of the group weren’t able to use the shower after we waited for an hour. We need to wait until the next day morning, and at night the water is cold again.

I travel extensively, and usually book local accommodations or small hotels. This trip was a very special one with my daughter (25) and mother(72). The apartment was very clean, exactly as described. Carlota met us at check in and explained all details to us, making sure we had no questions. Excellent service.
Do be aware of the location, as there are steep stairs. It was a little difficult for Mom, and she is strong at 72.
Would recommend if you like clean, simple, and steps are ok. 😄

Enjoyed experiencing an authentic Alfama neighbourhood. Location was terrific. The stairs to the apartment a challenge with lots of luggage...and not for anyone with mobility issues. We did fine. The weather was hot so be prepared for no air conditioning. The apartment had two fans which worked great for us.

Carlota met us at the apartment and they were accommodating in allowing us to check in a little early. The location is great, but not close to the train, so we took Uber mostly to get around. As other reviewers noted, there are a set of very steep stairs to get to the apartment, so it was challenging for my parents to go up and down the stairs. There was a strong smell coming from the bathroom, which seems to be common in these old building. Also in these old buildings there is no air conditioner. Otherwise, the apartment was clean and we had a good stay.

We enjoyed our stay, it was a great location, easy access to everything, including Ubers. Apt was clean and felt safe. Only minor issue was bathroom smell but it seems to be a common theme with a lot of lisbon apts..that being said I still recommend due to the other pros.

Our stay was for 3 months. And, the owner, Antonio, was the kindest and most considerate of landlords. Carlota, who met us was efficient and extremely helpful. There was not much that was negative about this experience, but the area, we found was much too busy with tourists, for what we like, but it was bustling and besides being careful of pick-pockets (which are everywhere in Alfama), it was pleasant. I would definitely recommend this apartment. It had a real stove, and the bathroom was bigger than most Alfama Apartments, so we were happy!

Our host could not have been more accommodating and made himself available when the only Real problem happened: our refrigerator “ died” . Antonio was at the apartment within the hour and worked diligently until he got it replaced. He had someone ( Carlota) at the apartment to meet us, which is so comforting when you fly overseas, are running on very little sleep, and in a new country. We walked… oh, did we walk, just about everywhere. Took the train out from Rossio to Sintra one day ( a Must do, and easy to do via train) . Literally, had a light agenda , on purpose, and created our own adventure every day!! What an amazing trip/ vacation, made only better by our hosts!! Thank you again, Antonio!!

Location is very convenient right by popular tourist attraction. Nice apartment and host is wonderful meeting us in person and patiently gave us orientation upon our arrival. One thing I must warn folks- especially if you have mobility issues, knee problems, or on the heavier side or simply have a large luggage - I stress this - I read other reviews and thought we are physically active and this can’t be this hard- the apartment is located on the 3rd ( not 2nd!!!) floor of a building near top of steep hill - everyday we walked up and down hill to sight see - it was a nice cardio. We packed light only 15lb carryon and a small backpack each- getting to the building and going up the stairs were surprisingly a struggle for us. So if you have more luggage than this, you should Take a taxi or tuk tuk ( you still need to get up the narrow and steep stairs though ) the streets in the Alfama district are narrow- narrow sidewalks and bumpy ground and sometimes steep stairs -you will need to carry your luggage sometimes. So be warned. Otherwise we throughly enjoy the stay and will recommend the place ! :)

Lisbon is a lovely city! The apartment was in a location within walking distance to many places. The neighborhood is delightful with small cafes and shops nearby. The apartment was cozy and comfortable.

Average!!!
Great location BUT hosts failed to warn us that there are 31 very narrow and deep steps to get to apartment. As a 73 years old man travelling with a 14 yearn old granddaughter it was unbelievable challenging to bring our luggage up and down upon leaving.
Also, we were never able to get an Uber to the address. We had to walk down a hill to meet one. They would not come to address.
We would have rated this place higher but the Host/Hostess local representative who met us after having to wait for her outside the apartment in the street with luggage and constant traffic after flying all night from the USA was condescending, very rude and plain nasty upon meeting us, WHY???
This is not a place for people w disabilities or older people.
The Host/Hostess were very responsive in answering our questions but their chosen representative was definitely not a nice person.

Wonderful Stay in Alfama
The property was everything we wanted it to be. The location was incredible and was in close proximity to so many wonderful places.

Family of four
This is a great property at the top of Alfama’s historical district. You will feel like you walked back in time as you walk the streets beneath the walls of St Jorge castle. Our advice is to take a taxi or Uber to the apartment when you arrive in Lisbon. The distance from the train is too far and high for lugging suitcases!

The flat is really nice, and the host team is super. Thank you for the many ideas and for your flexibility.
The location is good, you can easily reach the castle, and the cathedral. With children under 6 years I wouldn’t recommend because it is located on the “hillside”.
Thank you again for everything.

The place could not be better located… it is close to everything! Restaurants within walking distance (OPrego & Insano Gelato in particular we found to be good)… also plenty of shops, bakeries and even some of the local attractions. The place was clean and in fact renovated. It was really well stock. We own vacation rentals ourselves and we found more than the basics you find in the US. Nice to see even books with local touring recommendations. The local team member that met us was really nice and professional, and also safe with proper mask on.
On the down side, the bathroom needs some TLC and could have been cleaned better. This is a key area to make guests comfortable. I personally wasn’t too comfortable with it. The stairs, as common area, have an “interesting” smell as you take the fly of stairs to get to the unit. Upstairs neighbors are pretty noisy until late at night and early am, so if you are a light sleeper —beware! Great blackouts though.

Authentic Lisbon experience
Compact modern 2nd floor flat in historic Alfama district. Close to many attractions. Good restaurants and fado nearby. Well appointed for 2/4 people (but chairs must be replaced!). Typical of many properties in area, access is via steep stairs which are not acessibility friendly. Friendly owners and good handover. Need to be aware that Lisbon is set on picturesque but very steep hills with uneven cobbled pavements!

Nice little apartment in a fabulous location
This is a great little jewel in a fantastic location. Tram 28 runs on the street below for those interested in taking it. We walked to the main part of town (Rossio Square) every day and although it would be a challenging walk for those with mobility issues, we enjoyed it. Lots of little gems of restaurants and bars close by the apartment . If arriving by bus or plane, a taxi will take you right there. There is also an elevator that will take you down several flights of stairs but it closes before 10pm. We lucked into a wonderful Fado show on our way back from Rossio Square one evening at La Chipita. There is a great little bakery down the street had tasty pastels, there was a port tasting spot also on that walk - we found great shortcuts and really enjoyed the street art. I can't say enough about the location.
The rooms were comfortable and the apartment has everything you need - washing machine/dishwasher/TV, etc. We cooked breakfast most mornings but with the variety of restaurants available and everything to see in the city, we weren't home much.
The owners answered all my questions before I came, usually by the next day due to time difference between Canada and Portugal and there was someone there to meet us when we arrived.
The only cons were that noise carries so we could hear the upstairs neighbours TV/walking and a dog barking at times. I'm very noise sensitive but still enjoyed the apartment. Also, the stairs up to the apartment are very, very steep. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who has trouble negotiating stairs (same with the location as you do have to navigate hills to get here - especially if you are relying on the metro).
All in all, if you want to experience what a gorgeous city this it, this is a hidden treasure.

Unfortunately we were robbed on the first day on the tram. This has spoilt the whole experience for us and we left a day early. Of course this had nothing to do with the owners or the apartment. We thought the old town area was lovely. The apartment needs some tlc. One the keys didn’t fit so we had to disturb the neighbour to let us in. Chair collapsing, tv stand bending, settee not very comfortable.

Great stay in modern apartment in historic Lisbon!
Modern, comfortable apartment located in historic and central location. Looking at the outside, one would not know of the modern apartment that lies up the stairs of this historic building. From this central location, we were able to easily access the sights of beautiful and historic Lisbon and Sintra. The sunsets at Portas Do Sol were breathtaking and also a quick walk from the apartment. The recommendations and bottle of wine were also appreciated!

Ideal centre to explore Lisbon from.
This well equipped flat had all that was required for a holiday in Lisbon. It was ideally located, in easy reach of the 12 & 28 trams and several nice restaurants. The dining recommendations from the owners could not be faulted. I had pre-arranged a pick-up from the airport with the owners, this worked well and provided a door to door service - good job as it was a very hot day (37c). We were met by Luis who showed us round the flat and explained the local places to go and what tickets were worth buying for sightseeing. Antonio and Fabiola were prompt in answering any queries both prior to us arriving and also during our stay. Overall, a nice venue to have as a base for staying in Lisbon.

We loved this apartment! Right in the heart of the historic Alfama district. Cafes and restaurants nearby. Super quiet at night, clean and bright. Fabulous shower. It had everything we needed for our 4 night stay. The hosts were super accommodating on our arrival time and had someone there to check us in. Be ready for stairs and lots of hills. Thank you for a wonderful stay in Lisbon. We hope to return!
