About this cottage rental
Welcome to my little piece of heaven I like to call “The Meritage”. The cottage is located on a quiet lower lake road - perfect for walking the dog, taking an evening stroll, or maybe a morning bike ride. When you arrive you'll find a bottle of Finger Lakes wine some coffee to get your vacation started. Your mornings can start with a cup of fresh coffee as the sun rises behind you, and your evenings can end with the sun setting across the lake and a glass of wine in hand. The front door to this lovely cottage takes you into the living room area, artfully arranged to welcome warm conversations with friends or family. A comfortable queen-sized sleeper sofa and pair of matching armchairs make this a great place to catch up on the day’s events. A large window behind the couch beautifully frames the evening sunsets. Twin bookcases are filled with books and games for you to enjoy during your stay, as well as a flat-screen smart TV (Hulu Plus Live TV subscription) and DVD player. The living room is open to the dining area and the kitchen where you’ll find everything you need to prepare a wonderful lakeside meal. Off the kitchen a laundry room with a new washer and dryer, as well as kitchen “staples” in the pantry area. To the left of the kitchen you’ll find our remodeled bathroom with tub and shower. The master bedroom features high ceilings with a fan and the original wooden beams. The bedroom also is equipped with TV (with Fire Stick) and an alarm clock. A large dresser and armoire can be used to pack your belongings away so you feel more like home. The master bedroom also has a second door leading outside. The guest bedroom just off the dining area has a double bed and dresser. Outside, friends and family can sit together on the deck, enjoying dinner or a glass of wine and taking in the sight of Keuka Lake. There's a table for six - and a slightly covered space in case it rains! You'll also find both a charcoal grill (for the purist) and a gas grill (for the realist), as well as an outdoor fire pit. Walk five steps off the deck and you've reached the water. There's plenty of swimming space, and you can dive in off the end of the dock. Also at the end of the dock are two Adirondack chairs. There's so much to do in the surrounding area. The biggest attraction is the Finger Lakes Wine Trail, and you'll find two of the best wineries within a mile of The Meritage. You can taste all kinds of wine - from world-class Rieslings, to Pinot Noir, to award-winning dessert wines! And most wineries provide stunning views of the various Finger Lakes. Shoppers will love The Windmill Farm and Craft Market, just a short drive away on Saturdays. Some of our favorite restaurants are nearby, and we provide recommendations for every guest. There are many ways to enjoy the lake itself - from renting a boat and water skiing, to fishing and kayaking. I'm excited to now offer two single kayaks for rent during your stay. Just contact Morgan for details after you book. While I don't recommend working while on vacation, there's certainly room to work if you must! Guests enjoy high-speed wireless Internet. PLEASE NOTE: The cottage does have a number of stairs leading from the road/parking area to the cottage/lake that would not be suitable for pets or adults with mobility issues.

The location is perfect for a relaxing time sitting by the lake or to visit some of my favorite wineries on Keuka and Seneca Lake.
The property manager was super responsive and accommodating. We couldn't have asked for a better anniversary getaway spot. Hope yo book again on the future!

The house was very clean and well equipped with everything you might need to grill, cook, plenty of utensils and dishes, etc. The porch is partially undercover so you can sit outside in rain or nice weather. We got a couple of lovely pictures of sunsets. My husband had good luck fishing off the dock.

My wife, daughter (8), and I had a wonderful time at the Meritage. The house is cozy, well-kept, well-stocked, and perfectly located to get to everything the Finger Lakes offers.
The owner was helpful, friendly, and very communicative. We have every intention of coming back soon!

We were delighted with our stay at the Meritage. It's a lovely location, the cottage is so comfortable, and the host has thought of EVERYTHING to make our stay wonderful. Honestly, the cottage is so well organized, and really has every amenity we needed. It's very well set-up for enjoying the outdoors - from the deck to the fire pit to the dock to the kayaks. Indoors, the kitchen was well-appointed, the bedrooms were comfortable, and the views from the windows were excellent. We loved our time here!
We were glad to rent the owner's kayaks - the stairs down to the property are indeed steep, and having the kayaks already at the water meant we didn't have to carry our own kayaks down - a real plus.
The owner's instructions for check-in, check-out and parking were VERY clear - we knew exactly what to do and what to expect.
We would absolutely stay here again - this is one of the best rentals we've had.

This is a great place to stay for a small family. The master bedroom is spacious, and there is a second small bedroom perfect for a baby or kids. The location is fantastic with quick access to Penn Yan and local wineries on Keuka lake and the west side of Seneca lake. Best of all is being right on the water and the wonderful view.

The Meritage cottage had everything we needed for a quiet getaway. Easy to find, great location, and you cannot beat waking up and being able to immediately look out over the lake. Great value and a wonderful find, would happily rebook in the future.

We had a nice stay at the meritage. The property was cozy and clean and the host was very communicative. It was nice to have a kitchen stocked with the basics. The location is good and the sunset on the lake is beautiful! Be aware that the stairs are EXTREMELY STEEP. If you are older or have mobility issues, this is probably not the place for you. Otherwise, it’s a lovely cottage right on the lake.

Except for the staircase down to the cottage, I would highly recommend this property. The lake is pristine and sitting on the dock or deck was perfect; even with the rain and wind we unfortunately experienced. The location to some of the best wineries was perfect. The home was very clean. The kitchen was well equipped & the 2 bedrooms comfortable.
I would recommend this cottage but need to say it's definitely inaccessible to anyone with mobility issues and I'd suggest traveling light!

This is my second time renting this place. Great location, steps were part of the exercise routine. Nice quiet area for morning walks and bike rides. Loved the trees around the property.

This property is immaculate, cozy, and relaxing. The stairs presented a challenge for our elderly GSD (because stairs make him nervous) but the dock diving made up for the stairs! The stairs are in excellent condition, well maintained, and have slip guards. The lakeviews and sunsets are breathtaking. Morgan is a delightful and engaging host. Thank you for this much needed health and relaxation reset.

This cottage on Keuka Lake is absolutely wonderful. It's right on the lake and so incredibly peaceful. The size was perfect for our family (3 of us) and our dog. Morgan, the owner, was a rock star and lovely to chat with. It's a short drive to a bunch of wineries and the town for food etc.. We mostly cooked at the cottage and enjoyed meals together in the porch overlooking the lake.

The interior of this small cottage was exactly as I expected, nicely updated, clean and well stock with many amenities. If I was rating this property on only the inside, I would give it 4.5 stars. However, there were many areas we had problems with which could have been easily address with a bit more focus on maintenances.
-Entry Door could not lock. The dead bolt was misaligned and the handle kept falling off. A bit concerning when we left the unlocked property for the day.
-Bedroom AC unit was unusable. The exhaust hose was completely ripped in two and needed to be replace. This was a big concern during the hotter evenings
-Stairs going down to the property were steep and was expected. Dealing with all the overgrown limbs was a struggle and a safety hazard. Everything needs to be cut back and trimmed.
-For the cost of this property, the outside condition of the cottage was very disappointing. Entire unit needed a good scraping and painting. Was not a good first impression when arriving.
-Biggest concern were the two mature Weeping Willow trees on the property. The Vrbo listing pictures must be quite old. The deck was upgraded and all pictures of the lake from the property show beautiful views. Truth is the two willow trees are so overgrown, sitting on the deck or down by the fire pit, they greatly impede you view of the lake. You cannot see any boats on the lake or even a swimmer in front of the dock, sitting on the cottage deck. Walking to the end of the dock you had to maneuver the smaller hanging limbs and sitting on the dock, you constantly had to deal with the lower limbs blowing in the wind.
My wife and I rented this cottage for it's location and lake views and feel the Vrbo picture listings greatly misrepresented half of our expectation. Until the property owner deals with these concerns, cottage is well over priced.

Great little cottage..
The cottage was clean and updated and the perfect size for a family of 4. The house is stocked with everything you might need. Location is great (Close to Penn Yan). Beautiful view. Very quiet and relaxing and there was no neighbor on either side of us while we were there. The stairs are steep leading to the cottage but very manageable in my opinion. My boxer scooted up and down with no problem. Owner very responsive with questions. Would definitely stay again.

Summer at the Meritage
Perfect 4th of July on the lake. Fireworks around the lake and viewed from our dock was an added sweet surprise. Grandsons and granddog enjoyed swimming right off dock. Definite do over!

excellent waterfront option for couple or small family
Loved our stay here! Gorgeous sunset views right on the water! Small but cozy, perfect size for our family of 3. Enjoyed kayaking and swimming off the private dock, grilling out and dining on the deck and visiting the wonderful winery only 1 mile away. Great few days, can’t wait to be back again — hopefully longer next time!

This was our second year staying here. Upgrades were nice: new paint and door and especially the spit system A/C. If you are looking for a relaxing time, this is the place!

The location of this property is beautiful with a great dock to sit on and watch the sun set. However perhaps it was because it was at the end of the season but it needed a bit of a spruce up…things were just not as clean as they should have been or as they looked in the pictures. It was really hard to find the entrance since the house numbers were all but covered in weeds. The steps were SUPER STEEP and I would not want to navigate them at night so we went no where at night. The one bedroom was small and had no heat. The other bedroom was sizable but the heat did not work. There is no light in the room containing the washer and microwave so it was tough to use either of them at night. There is no way this place could easily accommodate more than 3 or 4 people. I did enjoy my stay because it was peaceful and beautiful but I didn’t feel things were quite as represented

The cottage was a much needed break from the day-to-day world. Between the view and sounds of the lake, and the beautiful surrounding areas we could hardly ask for more. As people that enjoy cooking, the setup was well equipped and ready for everything we had planned to make and more.

Beautiful sunsets!
Stayed here with another couple for our first visit to the Finger Lakes and it was great. Cottage is small but it worked fine for us as we wine toured all day and cooked delicious meals and watched the sun go down. Such a lovely view to wake up to and have coffee on the dock every morning. My only warning is that the stairs to get down to the house are extremely steep and long. Other than that, this was perfect cottage literally on the water and Morgan was helpful and quick to respond!

Late Sept Stay
We stayed at The Meritage for my stepdaughter's wedding and our communication with Morgan was excellent. She called when we got there just to review a few things about the property and that was very helpful. She also had it cleaned early and offered us early check in which was greatly appreciated! The cottage is RIGHT on the lake (literally steps from the porch and you are in the water). The view of the lake and sunset are beautiful. Everything you could need and ask for are in the cottage and the master bed is VERY comfortable!
There are just a few things I want to mention so that people are aware. In order to get to the property you must go down a VERY LONG STEEP set of stairs (no exaggeration). My husband and I are young and healthy enough to deal but a few trips up and down with all of our stuff was exhausting. You can't see the cottage from the road so you must look for the house # at the entrance to the stairs. We brought our kayaks along so we wouldn't have to rent the ones that come with the property but needless to say we didn't take them down to the water.
The next topic is by no means any fault of Morgan's. The neighboring property is in a state of repair (or disrepair depending on how you look at it). It looks like the property owner started and abandoned renovations. I wouldn't be happy if that particular owner was my neighbor. Also please note the size of the property because six people would absolutely be pushing it. Before booking Morgan did check to make sure it was no more than six. Four people could fit but I order to truly relax in the living space you may want a larger home. It ended up just being my husband and I so it worked for us but please be aware that while it is a cute cottage it is tight living quarters for more than a couple people.

Lakefront Getaway
Had a wonderful getaway at The Meritage. The cottage was well equipped, very clean and cozy. Morgan was easy to correspond with, shared many local recommendations and tips and followed up on questions we had promptly.
It is centrally located to many wineries, breweries, and waterfall abundant parks for hiking. Watkins Glen State Park is a must see. We really enjoyed watching the sun set over the lake from the dock each night. We left The Meritage feeling refreshed, recharged, and rejuvenated and would not hesitate to return.

Peace and Serenity at the Meritage
We absolutely loved our stay at the Meritage. It’s a quiet and cozy property with the right amenities. The lake view from the dock is stunning, the grill worked perfectly and there are many activities available at only a 7 minute drive to town. We will definitely be back next year!

Great week getaway
The views at this cottage can't be beaten. The kids loved jumping off the dock each morning. We loved sitting out each evening and enjoying the sunset. Our host was great - helping us check in and making sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. Thanks for a great visit!
