The property is perched on the hillside above Deshaies which provides a perfect view of the small town and the complete harbor. The weather was perfect and the home very nicely decorated with comfortable furniture. We spent most of our time in the spacious out door living areas around the pool. I would highly recommend this house to anyone a great villa for the cost. One suggestion that I would make would be a gas grill as opposed to the charcoal webber. Anyways at some point in time we would love to come back.

Can't get over this place!!. Everything was absolutely perfect. The pictures do not do this place justice as far as the view is concerned. You are actually closer to the sea than the pictures portray. Mylene was there to greet us with a smile and was available if needed ( which we didn't ) Both her and Canelle sent a quick message midweek to make sure things were perfect. Deshais is a short minute drive away. The house was so nice we actually didn't go anywhere two of the seven days. Watching the bay was mesmerizing with all the sail boats etc. If you are considering this house... go for it. You will not be disappointed.

Views of Deshaies and the bay are so incredible we ended up taking about 30 pictures of pretty much the same scene of sailboats and village. The house was very clean and bug free except when everything was opened up...it IS the tropics though, so expect a few bugs. The owner and staff are VERY responsive to all messages, but there were no issues that needed resolved. If you’re looking into renting this house, just realize that the photos don’t do it justice. This is an absolutely superb property in a truly excellent location. Our family of 4 (2 boys ages 17 and 13) had an incredible week exploring Deshaies and Basse-Terre with this house as our base. The house is a great size - large master suite and living room on entry level floor, and on the lower level, an adequate bedroom with en-suite (accessible from the outside to shower before entry into the house), a suitable well equipped kitchen, large/incredible outdoor living space, outdoor dining area, large deck and pool. Everything was accurately represented in all the pictures and property description, but hard to appreciate the amazing views and great character of the place until you are there. Deshaies is walkable (about 5 minutes), but windy road with not much shoulder in spots, so we drove down mostly (tons of parking). Deshaies has bakery, grocery store, pharmacy (can be very important when traveling as a family), gas station, some souvenir shops, small markets, and several restaurants. We explored the island during the day - by car, beach Grande-Anse 5 minutes, beach de la Perle 10 minutes (our favorite), beach Leroux 15-20 minutes, beach Petite Anse 20-25 minutes). One day we drove all the way to the marina Rivière-Sens for a sailing trip to Iles Des Saintes, which took about an hour and 15 minutes. In the evening, we would return and either make dinner at the house or dine in Deshaies - Kawan and La Savane (emailed both for reservations), Mahina and La Kaz du Douanier (walked up to make reservations) - highly recommended all four. This was a fantastic vacation and it all comes back to a superb property in a fantastic location. I should also mention the ease of arrival and departure and the great and timely communication with Cannelle. If you are thinking of a trip here, you should consider this home.

We spent a relaxing week at this property and would like to have a home like this for our own. Excellent bedding, perfect layout for sunning or hanging out during brief rains in the outdoor living space. Great water pressure and showers, adequate kitchen supplies and cutlery. very close to the botanical gardens and Deshaies. We would have appreciated more towels, toilet paper and diswasher detergent at the property but this did not detract from our overall joy for this property. and Mylene is just wonderful! Merci Beaucoup!

This is a beautiful house in a perfect location. It is quiet, yet just ten minutes walk from the village with its excellent boulangerie and a range of restaurants. There are lots of places to sit and enjoy the view, a fine kitchen and comfortable sitting and bedrooms. Couldn’t be better.

This property is great. The location was perfect for our needs. The local beach were beautiful and for the most part private!! The house is a wonderful 2 bedroom 2 bath. Great outdoor living space to hang out in or have your morning coffee...or Bloody Mary! The pool was a good size and very nice. There is views in basically every room in the house! The sleeping little town called Deshaies has good little local restaurant on the sea. Just a wonderful property!!

The Villa Palm Bay was the perfect vacation house for our family of two adults and two children, ages 7 and 9! The house and its views are lovely and the location feels remote, with wildlife and the sounds of nature all around, yet it is less than a 5 minute drive to Deshaies. The location is also just minutes from a spectacular botanical garden up the hill (don't miss lunch in the restaurant after touring the gardens), as well as conveniently located within about 10 minutes or less to several wonderful beaches, including Grande Anse, Pearl Beach and Leroux Beach, which were the three we visited on Basse Terre, all worthwhile. Day trips to Les Saintes and Le Sufriere Volcano were also accessible from this location, as were smaller trips into Sainte Rose and other neighboring towns. Though Deshaies was a bit sleepy in June, the bakery (fresh croissants!) and grocery stores were open each morning and there were always multiple restaurants open for dinner. Mylene greeted us upon arrival and was very gracious and helpful. She is available if needs arise during the stay. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed and hope to be back! *If you are traveling with young children, note that the "kids bedroom" is downstairs, just steps from the pool, though the pool is equipped with a removable fence for security.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit at this property for Deshaies. The little village just down the road and the beaches 5 minutes away was a perfect location for it group.

Property id #1933705 We stayed at Cannelle Canard's beautiful villa recently to celebrate our friend Lynsey's 40th birthday. The villa is set in it's own grounds above the town of Deshaies (home of the British TV series 'Death in Paradise' It is quiet and secluded with spectacular views over the bay. It's spacious rooms and expansive outside area facilitate a more than relaxed holiday. The little town (10 minutes walk away) has numerous restaurants and bars some of which offer delicious food"

La villa a une situation exceptionnelle, on ne se lasse passe pas de la vue sur la baie de Deshaies. Elle est très agréable et au calme. Elle dispose d'un jardin magnifique. Seul petit bémol, elle est indiquée pour 6 couchages mais il vaut mieux être 4, car il n'y a que deux chambres climatisées et que les couchages supplémentaires se trouvent dans le salon où il fait très chaud.

This is absolutely the most beautiful home we have ever stayed in. The surrounding views , from every angle and window, were stunning views of the bay , sailboats, and small town below. A large part of the living areas were covered outdoor spaces, with breathtaking views. The bedrooms also had lovely views and a wrap around upper deck. The kitchen could have been more generously stocked with cooking ware,though this was hardly significant in light of the beautiful, well maintained home. We walked to the village for meals and shopping, which was nice, although one almost didn't want to go anywhere, because this was heaven! We would/ will definitely rent this home again!

We loved, loved, loved this property and its location perched above the Bay of Deshaies. It has as much outdoor living space as indoor, just what you want in the Caribbean. We spent virtually all our time on the wraparound deck and ate every meal in the outdoor dining area. The house itself is a unique and attractive design, all warm wood and cool tile floors. The views, which we couldn't quite believe, were just as depicted in the VRBO ad. And the town of Deshaies itself, a 5-minute drive down the hill, is tiny but has several terrific restaurants and a well-stocked grocery with cheeses, charcuterie and wines (this is France, after all!). World-class diving is less than an hour away at the Cousteau Reserve. Don't miss Guadeloupe on your Caribbean vacation and don't miss this property.

Es gibt wohl nur wenige Plätze auf Guadeloupe, an denen sich ein so überwältigendes Panorama bietet, wie der Blick von der Villa Palm Bay über den Ort Deshaies, seinem Hafen und dem offenen Meer bis zur Insel Montserrat. Die Besitzerin Frau Cannelle Callard hat die Villa sehr liebevoll und stilsicher eingerichtet. Wir fanden alles so vor, wie in der Beschreibung dargestellt. Frau Mylene, unsere Gastgeberin, war bei unserer Ankunft bereits in der Villa und hat auf uns gewartet. Sie hat uns alles gezeigt und erklärt, wie es funktioniert. Auch für ein kleines Frühstück am nächsten Morgen hatte Sie gesorgt. Sie hat sich während unseres Aufenthaltes immer wieder liebevoll um unser Wohlergehen gekümmert. Hierfür unser besonderer Dank. Das Anwesen ist sehr gepflegt. Wir waren in der Villa und im Garten völlig ungestört. Besuch erhielten wir nur vom Gärtner und dem Poolservice. Mit unserm Mietfahrzeug besuchten wir fast alle TOP - Ziele auf Guadeloupe. Die Karibik ist berühmt für ihren Rum, und Guadeloupe ist da keine Ausnahme. Daher gehörte zu unserem Programm natürlich der Besuch des Musée du Rhum und die Führung durch eine Destillerie. Dennoch gibt es für uns noch sehr viel zu entdecken.

La maison surplombe la baie de Deshaies, tout inspire au calme et à la relaxation,En fonction du temps (pluie) 0n peut évoluer des extérieurs couverts ou non qui donnent tous sur une vue spendide, Mylene et Cannelle sont charmantes . La plage de grande anse et de la perle sont très proches en voiture, le jardin botanique également, pleins de petits restaurants sympas dans le bourg.. bref parfait!

Absolutely wonderful stay at this traditional creole cottage. The views overlooking the bay of Deshaies were mesmerizing. Sunrise was always special waking up the sounds of birds in the trees, waves crashing and church bells ringing. We enjoyed breakfast every morning outside (be sure to go to the village bakery for their delicious croissants and muffins which was only a two minute drive away) The house was very authentic and well constructed. As mentioned we especially enjoyed the outdoor spaces. The location was on the quiet side of the island which we found incredibly peaceful and beautiful. A very short drive to amazing beaches, the national park and numerous restaurants. (A full service grocery store was a short drive away as well) Our flight got in very late but we still received a warm reception from our host. (We don't speak French but still felt very welcome) Overall a very peaceful and relaxing stay Thank you!

Villa Palm Bay is beautifully sited. Green and peaceful, the property commands a great view. It is very private. During our stay there, we were unaware of any neighbors yet within a few minutes drive from "downtown" Deshaies (and always in line at the patisserie when it opened at 6:30 am to get freshly baked French bread and croissants). The house is solidly built of stone and wood in an old Creole style, exactly as shown in the online photos. It flows nicely, inside and out, and is well-furnished. There are two different sitting and dining areas outdoors; also a large indoor living room with a satellite TV service on the second floor. The two bedrooms are generous in size; each has its own bathroom. The owner, Cannelle, did everything to make the house ready for us including arranging the supply of groceries for our first breakfast. Mylene, her local agent, was present to explain how things worked when we arrived and to be sure things were all OK when we were ready to depart. The house was spotlessly clean. We were a party of 4, with a husband and wife in their late 70s who have some trouble with steps. That proved to be no problem here, as they took the downstairs bedroom and bath and so lived mostly on the same level with the kitchen, outside dining and sitting areas, and swimming pool. The younger couple took the upstairs bedroom and bath. We never did watch the TV in the upstairs living room - the views were too amazing. Air conditioning units in both bedrooms were effective in cooling. We slept well. And we had absolutely no issues with mosquitoes. No bites whatsoever. This may be due to the hillside setting and the steady breeze. Only occasionally did the wind flare up. Two things to know: 1) The house can be hard to find the first time. It is down the road to Pointe Batterie, well-marked in both directions by a big sign for Hemingway restaurant. But we missed it coming from the airport late and in the dark. Happily, we turned up the driveway of Cannelle's sister's house where a very cheerful and kind party of 4 steered us the right way. 2) The house faces north. Therefore in winter it misses sunrise and sunset due to the steep drop of surrounding mountains. But the sunlight playing off the surface of the sea below makes up for that. At night, lights shimmer from the restaurants on the Deshaies waterfront as do lights from about 25 sailboats and 55 motorboats (we counted them). Merci beaucoup, Cannelle et Mylene. Nous reviendrons!

The spacious villa is oriented toward the water with an expansive view of Deshaies, a pretty village and dramatic anchorage, from the windows, patio, and deck. The uphill neighbors are remote; the downhill neighbor quiet and unobtrusive. The decor and furnishings are tasteful and comfortable. The kitchen is well-equipped and the wifi connection is good (but does not extend to the patio). The owner and her assistant are well-organized and very accommodating. Deshaies is 1 km north down a steep winding road, and the interesting Botanic Garden and lovely Petite Anse beach are nearby in the opposite direction.
