So so good
Communication with Lorraine was excellent from start to finish and what a lovely lady to deal with. We were greeted with a really warm welcome and to be honest it was like being greeted by a relative we had gone to stay with. The welcome pack was one of the best we have ever had and very much appreciated. The house is so comfortable and cosy and it was like going home after a day out. It is extremely well equipped and there is a huge folder with all the instructions for the appliances if needed. The beds were really comfortable and we slept well, the area is so quiet. There is a shopping centre not too far away which you can walk to and has a good sized Sainsbury’s, boots and a TKMax along with a few other stores. There is an excellent bus service which we used regularly and we also walked into Princes Street which took us 35mins. If you fancy a takeaway we can highly recommended Franco’s who deliver, the menu is not just the usual fish and chips. Would we stay here again yes definitely.

Lovely accommodation, Lorraine was very helpful and answered all questions quickly. Good supply of towels and bed linens, cozy house, excellent heating. However more spare cupboard space for food would be good. Ideally situated for a short trip on the bus into Edinburgh, overall a fantastic stay.

The house was spotless when we arrived and Lorraine was very sweet and helpful with advice on how to get around the city. The house is in a great location with a Sainsbury's just around the corner and a bus stop close by too. The house had everything we ever needed, especially cleaning supplies that are often overlooked by property owners.
All in all, it was a fantastic experience and I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to stay at a place that feels like a second home.

Comfortable Edinburgh cottage.
We had a comfortable and enjoyable few days at this beautiful cottage. The neighborhood is quiet but convenient for shops and transport to the city. The city centre can be reached easily on foot, it is a pleasant 45 minute stroll. The welcome pack was generous and much appreciated. Lorraine was the perfect host offering advice and information on our arrival. We would highly recommend staying here.

Lorraine ‘s home was a perfect place for our 4-day visit to Edinburgh and environs.
She provides everything one needs to settle right in and with a shopping area around the corner, and bus service, too, one doesn’t need to go far for supplies and connections. I hope to return in the future.

Lorraine was such a wonderful hostess, providing a few basics when she didn’t have to at all. The house was in a perfect location, clean, even a fox to entertain when it came for a visit in the backyard.

Marvelous Little Home in Edinbrough
Cozy and convenient. Lorraine, the owner, provides everything you could ever wish for, snacks, wine, kitchen equipment and supplies. Also laundry equipment and supplies, fresh linens and bath supplies, TVs in the living room and both bedrooms, wonderful working gas fireplace in the living room AND a fabulous backyard with squirrels and birds. Lorraine is the best part of this property, she was right there when we arrived and walked us to the nearby grocery store. She made sure that we lacked for nothing and even gave us a half-penny for our daughter's wedding that week. She is an incredibly thoughtful and gracious host. We will definitely stay there on our next trip to Scotland.

A gem of a property!
You could not meet a nicer person than Lorraine! We arrived late afternoon and she had got us gluten free biscuits and lactose free milk! The house is very comfortable and warm. Supermarket is just round the corner and busses go at the end of the street. The kitchen is very modern with induction hob and a washer dryer (which is needed in Scottish winter) as well as a dishwasher. The bathroom is newly decorated and we had no problems with the shower and it was lovely to have a bath. Lorraine has made a great effort to make the house a home from home. The garden is lovely, too. We enjoyed seeing all the wildlife! She has lovely neighbours and the small estate is lovely and quiet. Perfect place to enjoy a holiday in Edinburgh!

very handy location
The house is situated only about 10 mins from the centre via bus or taxi which is great for sightseeing. The house is well kept, clean, and is well equipped. The garden is also well maintained. Good selection of leaflets, reliable Wi-Fi a good plus. One small gripe the shower is not great it could do with replacing as the pressure is not good but then we are v fussy!

Highly Recommend!
Lorraine was very welcoming and kind, meeting us after an overnight flight from the US, and the house was perfect: very clean, great location close to Sainsbury where we walked for groceries, bus stop at the end of the street for getting downtown, very comfortable rooms, and blooming garden. We stayed for 6 days while exploring Edinburgh, and took really lovely side trips to Musselburgh and Rosslyn Chapel. This house was the perfect for us - the children enjoyed the books in their room and their view of Edinburgh, as well as playing in the garden. The TV and wifi were very much appreciated, and the welcoming bottle of wine, milk, biscuits, bread & butter were such a nice touch. Lorraine was really lovely, and we had numbers to contact in case of any problems (there were none - the house is great!) My husband also enjoyed chatting with the friendly neighbor - one morning he was invited to have coffee next door! Overall we had 3 weeks in Scotland, and our time at Lorraine's very clean house was the perfect way to start it!
Our favorite activities for our first visit to this area: Harry Potter Walking Tour (free, but you tip at the end) Rosslyn Chapel, walking Arthur's Seat, the castle and the Real Mary King's Close.) We could not see the palace as the Queen was in residence and it was closed to visitors. We rode the city bus everywhere (there's free wifi onboard) and found it easy to navigate our way around, buying a family day pass.)
Thank you, Lorraine. We had a lovely time and would highly recommend staying here.

Little gem in Edinburgh
Lovely house in a good area and only a short distance from the city centre. We liked the peace of the surroundings and garden and my teenagers loved being able to walk to the ample variety of ‘corner’ shops on their own to spend pocket money out of view of mum and dad. This is a very nice house with a lovely owner who actually cares that you have a good holiday and also does not take advantage of families by inflating rental tariffs at school holiday times. We found a spotlessly clean, warm and welcoming house. A little gem. Can’t wait to come back!

Really good service
My family and I stayed here for a week in half term. As this site shows, the house is perfect for this kind of trip. Warm, comfortable, a very well appointed kitchen and with a great big telly. All worth five stars alone, but on this occasion we managed to leave behind my wife's laptop, a bag and a coat. When the owner discovered this, she contacted us immediately, boxed the whole lot up, printed out the courier label we sent her, and then made herself available for us to get it all picked up. Outstanding service, and very much appreciated.

sunny house in edinburgh
We had a great holiday at this house with the very best of weather to top it all. This house is well appointed, furnished and equipped very nicely so we felt very comfortable there with our new baby. We loved the location in such a lovely area with lots of pretty places in walking distance and it was nice to have a sunny garden. It really is easy to walk into the city and easier still with a push chair of course. All the shops you could ever need though while on holiday are very near the house, making it easy for us to self-cater. The hospitality and welcoming touches by the owner were also superb. We have no hesitation in recommending this house.
