\"Jack London's Cabin\", Genuine Alaskan Log Cabin built by owners! Self check in.
About this cabin rental
Located in Seward, this lovely cabin for $274 per night is a great option for your next trip. "Jack London's Cabin" is a genuine hand-hewn, hand-built, 10 inch thick logs, two-story Alaskan 20' x 20' cabin, created and build by its owners, Yvon & Janet. The logs create a well insulated, comfortable, quiet, peaceful, and is in a most private dwelling environment. A router is installed for free WIFI. Completed in 2010, nestled amongst the tall Alaskan Spruce trees, "Jack London's Cabin" is our most popular "get-away-home, away-from-home" within a quaint, strong, secure, semi-isolated environment. It is located kitty-corner across the road from Le Barn Appetit Inn & Creperie, which Janet owns and operates. This is where you will find us daily, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Wednesdays-Sundays. Our Creperie is open to the general public and we offer our Cabin guests & Inn guests a 20% discount if they choose to have Crepes with us! Also @ our Creperie & Inn property is our outdoor roofed fire pit with wood provided. There are 3 picnic tables for your use when grilling your dinner meals. On the ground floor of "Jack London's Cabin' is the kitchen with a small refrigerator, a coffee maker, microwave, heating plate for induction cooking, kitchen drawers and cupboards supplied with cooking pans, dishes, utensils and kitchen towels. The kitchen sink, private bathroom, shower stall and bathroom sink all have unlimited hot water-on-demand. There are drinking jars above the microwave, and coffee cups hanging from the stainless steel coffee cup rack. To the right is a broom/dust-pan, a large garbage can, and a vacuum cleaner as needed. There is a dumpster for emptying your garbage when checking out, and as needed, located kitty-corner across the street from the Cabin on our Creperie property that you may always use when needed. The bathroom door is a metal door with a large mirror on the inside of it. The shower stall is new & modern. Our efficiently flushing toilet has a higher seat, which is specially comfortable for adults. The sink cabinet & drawers have extra toilet paper, soap and cleaning supplies. The bathroom shelving has amble amount of towels, hand towels, wash cloths, an after your shower floor rug, and a hair-dryer. The dining/living area has a round solid oak table with four oak chairs. There is a full futon that makes into a bed. Located next to the Futon against the south 10 " thick log wall is an early American china-hutch with a slew of "Jack London's" novels, playing cards, and many treasures that "Jack London" COULD have collected on his adventuresome travels. Located in the lower cabinets of the hutch are pillows, sheets, blanket & the bedding for the Futon. We have black out shades for those who are not used to our Alaskan longer days. Next to the hutch, on the south wall, is a rocking glider chair. Under the south window is our "too-efficient" oil-fed Toyo stove, if needed. However, our "Jack London's Cabin" is so well insulated from the 10" thick logs that the heater is kept at a very low heat, and/or turned off during the summer months, but used in the cooler fall time. Next to the Toyo heater on the right, is tall wooden-made floor lamp created with parts of the stem of a boat keel from the Orient. The hat shape on top of the lamp looks like an oriental hat. "Jack London must have located this in a very far away Asian seaport! To the right of the entry before the stairway to the second floor bedroom is a lazy-boy chair with a small table with a lamp. To the right is a small closet rod to hang jackets and hats. Upstairs, on the second floor across the room under the window is a night stand with a lamp on it. On the left of the night stand is the queen bed, and the king bed is located to the right of the night stand. There is a decorative early American style curtain which hangs from the ceiling between the two beds to provide extra privacy if needed. On the south wall, is an electric fireplace that can be used for heat and/or just for atmosphere. To the right is a vintage secretariat desk and a chair. There is an antique butter-churner and a rocking chair. Moving to the right is a working convenience sink, with hot-water on demand, and a vintage standing towel rack with a towel and wash cloth. This is an excellent place for brushing teeth and getting needed water during the night. To the right of the stairwell on the wall is a mirror for hair-combing, or putting on make-up. Located below is an antique seaman's traveling trunk that "Jack London" could have used at sea (currently it holds our extra bed-linens). On the right of the chest, on the north wall are two rocking chairs separated by a small table with a lamp. The second floor bedroom walls are decorated with a genuine bear-hide, a genuine moose horn rack, and a pair of genuine snow-shoes. "Jack London's Cabin" sleeps up to 6 people, has internet, but no television. We find that most people visiting Seward are so busy enjoying the outside wilderness and wildlife, that television deters them from their true Alaskan remote experience. Besides, during "Jack London's" time period, television did not exist, as he was so busy with all his worldly wild-life travels.

We loved the stay in the cabin. The very beautifully set up and the crepes next door were delightful!

The Jack London cabin is most rustic with an overwhelming amount of knik knaks placed about. It is an attempt at wanting to make it cozy and have that Alaskan charm, but is too much and then it becomes a cleaning issue.
The cabin is extremely rustic to the point of being a possible fire hazard. There are extension cords and outlet cords everywhere. Much of the electrical is exposed. This was concerning.
However, the location is very convenient and accessible to the roadways.
The linens are well stocked as is the kitchen, which we didn’t use since we dined out.
Our host was very responsive to our concern with heat, and even stopped in when we were out.
It is an ecclectic blend of Alaska and could be just what others are looking for. We prefer less "stuff" and more space. Just our opinion.

This was an adorable little cabin that had thoughtful and unique decorations. We loved the deer head and the bear skin especially. Very warm and cozy. Communication with Janet was clear and timely.

We travelled to Alaska from CA with our family during summer break. Stayed at jack London’s 2 nights. Very restful stay, cozy cabin filled with dainty treasures. Very thematic. My son and wife got a head start on the Jack London’s series from the book shelf. The cabin is not just thematic. It is very functional. Very spacious inside. Comfy beds and great water shower pressure and heat. Well stocked kitchen utensils and very good home ground coffee. Definitely recommend to family 10/10.

Love the rustic feel. It was very clean and it had plenty of everything we needed to be comfortable. Coffee was available and the bed was very comfortable. We would definitely stay at this place again. From this location it was a short drive to do some shopping, hiking, and go to the grocery store.

The cabin is charming in a rustic, rugged way. We loved it. Great location for home base to explore greater Seward area. Saw sea otters on Resurrection Bay, bald eagles near Exit Glacier, and salmon jumping at the Bear Creek weir - all super near by! Communication with host was great and we are grateful for our stay.

My spouse and I enjoyed our 3 nights at Jack London Cabin. It is located a few minutes drive from harbor area of Seward and on the road to Exit Glacier and we were glad we had a car. The kitchen has basic amenities and we used the induction hot plate without trouble. The cabin is well constructed and warm.

Family-run traditional and rustic log cabin, with an endless supply of the best crepes you’ll ever eat from Barn Appetit, located opposite the cabin. Highly recommended. A car is useful but not essential as the taxi services will whisk you back and forth for a few dollars.

We stayed at the Jack London cabin 2 nights in august 2022. We also ate at the Lebarn creperie twice and absolutely loved it. EVERTHING we are was delicious! Staff were all very nice and friendly. I'd highly recommend staying and eating here. Great for my 11 and 17 year old boys- great for kids.

My brother & I loved everything about this cabin! It was in a quiet area just outside of town, but still conveniently located within a few minutes drive to the marina and restaurants downtown. And the crepes at Le Barn were amazing!

My husband and I stayed for two nights and had a lovely time. The living room is small, but the bathroom is plenty large enough and the upstairs bedroom is awesomely large. We used the larger bed and it was super comfortable, which is always a concern due to the hardware in my husband’s back. We slept great. There are numerous power strips around the cabin to make plugging in convenient. We couldn’t connect to the Wi-Fi, but we solved that by using the hotpot on our phones. Cell phone signal was great. We weren’t sure about the “hotplate” listed in the description, so we brought our own induction cooktop, which turned out to be exactly what was provided in the kitchen. We easily cooked our breakfast each morning. It rained one of our days there, but the cabin stays toasty warm. Napping is easy with the sound of the rain on the metal roof. The owners have done a spectacular job with keeping the rustic charm yet providing for a comfortable and convenient environment. We plan to return next summer and lengthen our stay.

We stayed here for 2 nights while in Seward. The kids loved the rustic cabin and we found that it had everything we needed for our stay. Super close to exit glacier area and less than a mile to grocery store and the marina. Great little town!

A unique cabin!
Our family of four (parents with 2 adult daughters) stayed here for two nights while visiting Seward. It is definitely unique in its decorations! The bedroom is roomy enough for 4 people & associated gear. Beware of the sloping ceiling for those sleepjng on the outside edge tho!
We only cooked breakfast there, using the electric hot plate. There isn't a stove, but there are some other cooking appliances that I didn't want to figure out for dinner etc. And I guess Jack London wouldn't have used WiFi, cuz that was pretty slow.
Overall it was a good stay.

Nice little cabin just outside of Seward, AK
Nice cabin. The beds are upstairs and the ceiling is somewhat low (i'm only 6'1") and I whacked my head on the beams and hanging light fixture several times. But, this was clearly advertised , so this was not a surprise. The bathroom is downstairs.

Exactly as advertised. Off the main highway and more quiet than we had anticipated. Well appointed for a true log cabin with loft. In-line water heater a bonus! We added a fourth tenant to this res. - everyone wanted to stay in a real cabin. Local decor and keepsakes kept grandson asking questions all night. Definitely on our favorites list for future stays in Seward!

We loved our two-night stay at Jack London’s Cabin! It was exactly as described and very clean. We enjoyed meeting Janet and walking over to Le Barn Appetit Creperie for breakfast (delicious crepes!). The cabin had everything we needed and was so close to Seward that it only took us minutes to get into town. It was also near the Exit Glacier Hike Trailhead which was on our list of things to do. Though it was close to town, it still felt like we were in the woods. We walked down our little street to view an eagle’s nest bustling with activity as the two parent eagles were tending to their offspring. As we were walking back to our cabin we saw a mother moose with two baby moose right on our street! There is a restaurant around the corner called Salmon Bake. They advertise cheap beer and lousy food (LOL!), don’t believe them about the food! It was great, and compared to other dinners we had during our travels, it was the best meal for the money spent. It has a very cool vibe and a great bar area as well. We would have loved to hang out for the evening but had to be at the marina at 7:45 am for our boat tour! Overall, Jack London’s Cabin was a great fit for us. We had ample space for a family of four, and the proximity to everything we wanted to do in Seward made it the perfect place to stay.
