The house was clean and very well stocked with anything you would ever need while on vacation The keypad entry was great as you did not have to worry about carrying extra keys with you. Downtown Booth Bay Harbor was a short drive away. Views of the bay from the wrap around porch were breath taking, great spot for that morning cup of coffee. I feel the check out time is a bit early to enjoy breakfast and then have to pack up your car and be out by 10:00 am. On the not so positive side there was no sandy beach to enjoy, coast is all rocks. In communicating with the host I was lead to believe there was a sandy beach that came and went with the tides. Also the picture listed is a bit deceiving, as the water does not come all the way up to the gazebo. In order to put a boat or kayaks in the water you had to go to either public dock or further down the road at the boat launch. That meant constantly carrying a boat motor, kayaks, and fishing equipment back and forth for use. It got to be a bit tedious and I was not able to kayak at my convenience. I needed help in carrying the kayak and my husband and son were not always available as they were out fishing most of the day.

Paradise on Linekin Bay. Well stocked. Comfortable. Only negative no drip coffee maker, although since there were coffee filters, I rigged my cups.

This was our second two week stay at quintessential Chesebro cottage and it was even more delightful than the last.Weather was gorgeous and we took advantage of it to enjoy a Balmy Day’s excursion to Monhegan where we hiked to the Lighthouse and through the woods to Gull ‘s Cove for lunch (Hope that sneaky gull enjoyed my sandwich). Another fine day we visited Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens to check out the trolls for the third time (Sven is my favorite). Back at the cottage, when we weren’t relaxing on the porch taking in the view and harbor activity, you could find us walking at Murray Hill or Ocean Point, attending Wilson Chapel on Sundays, visiting my friend’s new gallery in the village and, of course, East Boothbay General Store, plus, not to forget the early morning serene moments kayaking the glassy waters of Linekin Bay and swimming at public dock two doors down. We ate out only once, because eats prepared in Chesebro’s well equipped and efficient kitchen were so good and the view can’t be beat! Those dinners did include both cooked lobsters and homemade lobster rolls (Ala Paul) from Pinkhams (Their potato salad is as tasty as my own).….and some fall-off-the-bone bbq ribs from Carriage House….yum! (Must also give Lobsterman’s Wharf just down the road a shoutout for their seafood delights and our very favorite in-town eatery, Boathouse Bistro). Okay, so Chesebro isn’t all about wining and dining ….there are the comfortable beds for a good night’s rest, fantastic water pressure and plenty of hot water for very revitalizing shower, THE PORCH, water views from every window and “natural” air conditioning with windows open when needed, GAZEBO for “eating out” breakfast, lunch or dinner, the great period dining room table to gather around when it’s chilly, the cozy but ample living room WITH A VIEW for visiting, quiet time, TV or games … plus in-house laundry! What did I miss about this one- of-a-kind old cottage where it’s history is told in pictures and objects artfully displayed on walls and shelves and lovingly cared for by the descendants who are still it’s owners? THE PITCHER OF HOME-BREWED ICE TEA by Debbie to welcome our arrival!! Thank you! Bob made check in and checkout a breeze and responded quickly to questions and concerns all along the way. Thanks, again!

This is an exceptional property, not only in terms of its waterfront location, but also the many amenities and the care and maintenance of the cottage are exceptional. The host has provided everything you need for pleasant vacation. We wanted for nothing during our two week stay in this charming 1893 summer home.

Amazing!
Amazing!
The house is amazing, both in feel and history. Quintessential Maine cottage experience. Really well equipped and well managed property. There is a tidal beach and walking access to the public dock/boat launch and amazing East Boothbay General Store, all of which kept a family with a very active 4.5 year old and toddler very happy for the week. Would highly recommend.
