About this cottage rental
Located in Cattaraugus, this charming cottage for $299 per night is a fantastic option for your next trip. This lovely cottage, Golden Glen, is a gem for relaxation and quiet in a perfect setting of serenity. It sets on the edge of 2200 acres of NY State Forest and lush woods. The back looks over a ravine with a stream, complete with a small waterfall. The inside is deluxe with a beautiful living area and fully equipped kitchen, 2 comfortable bedrooms decorated beautifully and all of the amenities of home. The living room is all part of the great room which includes the kitchen and dining area. There is a large gas stone fireplace for cozy evenings. The stones were all collected from the stream and surrounding woods. The bathrooms are spacious and feature walk in tiled showers. Then there are the amazing porches!! The favorite spot of everyone is the screened in porch that runs the entire length of the back of the cottage. It is comfortable and the setting is completely surrounded by nature. There is even a hawk that has made her nest in the top of a tree near the house!! She has been there for a couple of years. There is a deck off of the upstairs bedroom that is a great place to star gaze on a warm night. The washer and dryer completes the efforts of the owner to make this a true home away from home. Golden Glen is only 15 minutes from the quaint ski town of Ellicottville, NY. The town has great restaurants and small shops and Holiday Valley Ski Resort offers year round activities. From skiing and winter activities to summer golf and zip lining for the more adventurous. Bring your bicycles in the summer or your cross country skis or snowshoes in the winter or your hiking boots year round, as the stare forest is full of groomed trails. Or bring your books and just relax and enjoy your surroundings. We are only 12 minutes from Ellicottville, New York which is a quaint little ski and resort town. You can ski in the winter or golf in the summer. There are world class restaurants for fine dining and wonderful shopping. It is the perfect place for solitude or a romantic getaway. Our family loved staying at Bette's place. She was super responsive and the cabin was incredibly comfortable. The gas fire place and screened in porch were highlights. It is close to Ellicottville and just yards from a park.

My Husband and I will definitely be back to this beautiful piece of Heaven! Bette is an amazing and caring person. She went above and beyond to make our stay one of the most memorable vacation. We absolutely loved the screened in porch and the top deck! We had family both weekends come and visit from Canada , and they were in awe about the cottage and the surroundings. We will always have beautiful memories of our trip and especially Bette who non stop works to please everyone! We’re looking forward to seeing her again! The cabin was very clean. Very nice with all the amenities we expected. It is on a quiet road and provides plenty of privacy. The back porch is great for quiet afternoons in the shade. Even though it was July, the temperatures during the day stayed in the 70s and there was usually a cool breeze.
Very close to the Allegheny National forest so we did lots of hiking and other outdoor activities.
Bette did a great job of preparing the cabin and helping us get checked in. No complaints.

The drive takes you to a secluded but populated area, the house is warm, inviting, and positively comforting. We had a great weekend stay, and enjoyed the neighboring towns. We could t wait to return to the house, if you are looking to relax this is one.

Although the weather was rough (no snow) the house was amazing! We enjoyed bundling up, sitting on the screened in porch listening to the creek. It was easy to get to the slopes or into town. We will definitely return.

We loved this property. Very clean, cozy and just as pictured. The property around the house was so nice. Being cold and snowy we didn’t get the chance to enjoy the screened in porch, but when we stuck our heads out, we could hear the lovely lull of the babbling creek right outside. It would be a wonderful place to spend some time out there during warmer months. Downtown was only about 10-15 minutes from the house. Plenty of shopping and restaurants to choose from. Our host, Bette, was wonderful to work with and easy to contact. I’m hoping to grab a couple sisters and rent there this summer. It was a great choice for us.

The renovations in this property are impressive - a beautiful mix of original, antiques, and modern amenities. It was more than we expected. The screen porch is amazing. The drive into Ellicottville is easy and being in the woods made it the best of both worlds.

The home is cozy - a wonderful location surrounded by woods. The boys loved exploring in the wooded area around home.
The fireplace is such a nice touch, there is a full washer/dryer, comfy beds and nice large bathrooms on each level. The top level has a wonderful roof top deck.

If you want a place to just relax, this place is for you! We spent a lot of time on the screened in back porch with a view of the forest and sounds of the creek. We also hiked every day and went in town in the afternoon for food!

We enjoyed staying here! Very clean and easy check in. The back porch was the best! Calm serenity. We were surprised to find no A/C in the house- but apparently that is normal around these parts. The manager supplied fans. Also, the Dish satellite didn’t work - so we were only able to watch the DVD’s provided. But, that didn’t bother much with our plans- since we enjoyed playing board games and eating on the back porch.

Monarch butterfly welcomed us at the door
We loved our time at Golden Glen. We came to celebrate one of our birthdays as close to nature, good weather and peace and quiet as we could find. I don't know how the caretaker managed this but a monarch butterfly greeted us by the front door as we arrived, welcoming us into this oasis, and hung throughout our stay. Auspicious! It seemed like every time we turned around, we were surprised and delighted by the serenity of the cottage and surrounding forest. We cooked meals together, went on 2 hikes, explored the lovely Ellicottville town and relaxed in all of the outside spaces (especially the wide, screen back porch). We are grateful for the thoughtful touches of beauty and convenience of the cottage. A joyful birthday celebration indeed. With any luck, we will return soon!

Beautiful cottage in the woods!
This place was stunning. So quiet and serene. Very little traffic, and less than 15 minutes from town. Bette was the perfect host. My kids are already asking to go back!

Great getaway!
Wonderful place to stay. No neighbors, sitting on the border of a state forest. The screened porch looking over the woods with a babbling brook was heavenly. The level of thought and detail in this place made for a great stay.

Very nice house - very secluded, Muddy yard
The house was very nice and the pictures provided accurately reflected the house. It was clean. It is very secluded and any phone calls had to be completed using wi-fi calling. The wi-fi did work well. We felt the the upstairs bed sort of sagged in the middle. Downstairs bed was fine. I had a hard time finding the dishes and glasses (they are stored under the steps). We we found to be unacceptable was that the yard was a mud pit. You had to walk through significant mud to get to the house and there was no way around it. My husband had a boot on after having foot surgery and it was very difficult for him maneuvering through the mud. We actually resorted to putting plastic bags over our shoes to walk to and from the car. There needs to be some sort sidewalk installed or significant amount of gravel spread to make this workable. I would not stay here again unless this was fixed.

The location was great and it was exactly what we were looking for. The only negative thing I have to say is the furniture is old and very uncomfortable, not great if you have a bad back.
