About this house rental
This is a charming duplex apartment located in the heart of Mt. Pleasant with a newly renovated kitchen. It has a cozy cottage feel with an outdoor shower and private fenced in back yard. Bike and walk most anywhere; 2 beach cruiser bikes provided! Less than a mile from Shem Creek, 3.5 miles from Sullivan's Island Beach and 6 miles from Downtown Charleston. This is one side of a duplex in a quiet, established neighborhood located in the heart of Mt. Pleasant. It is not on a through street, which means that is has little traffic. The street loops around to Shem Creek less than a block away, which makes for a short, walk. The duplex was built in 1960. It is made out of brick and has a classic, simple feel to it, but is by no means perfect. There is a large patio in the back yard with table and chairs, along with a fire pit, and a fully enclosed, outdoor shower. It has its own private fenced in back yard that is large. There are two bedrooms, each has two windows for plenty of sunlight. One bedroom has tile floors, and a queen bed. The other has wood floors, bunk beds, and a full-size bed. There are two sofas in the living area that encompass a wall mounted TV. The bathroom has solid marble tile floors and bead board siding. It has a newly renovated kitchen outfitted with the essentials; stove, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, plates, cups, utensils, coffee maker, pots & pans, toaster and blender. Washer, Dryer, Iron, Ironing Board, and Blow Dryer provided. Two beach cruiser bikes, beach chairs and a small cooler are also available for use. The other side of the duplex is a vacation rental as well. Each has its own front door PRIVATE entrance with a screened-in porch. They also both have their own PRIVATE, fenced in back yard, with back door entry. Our home is conveniently located less than a mile from Shem Creek. We could write a small book on all that Shem Creek and the local area has to offer. We have two boys, a Giant Schnauzer, and we love going out to eat and sampling some of the world class restaurants the Charleston area has to offer. We love sharing what we have discovered, just ask! We moved here years ago and still feel like we are on vacation. Our favorite way to explore the area is on bikes, so we wanted to share that with our guests. Sullivan's island and downtown Charleston are both roughly 6 miles in opposite directions on the same road with bike paths the whole way to each. Depending on how adventurous you are, you can head out the front door and be on the beach, or enjoying all that downtown Charleston has to offer without ever getting in your car. There are also water taxis downtown from Patriots Point if you do not want to ride the bridge. Again, just ask, we have information on all of that. Within an 8 minute walk out the front door there is a Starbucks and a host of great places to eat, shop, or grab a drink. We hope you have a wonderful time in the Mount Pleasant/Charleston area, no matter what reason brings you here! We have been asked on many occasions about steps/stairs and there are no stairs or steps one has to climb to access our home. For all items baby related, cribs, highchairs, car seats, strollers, swings, pack 'n play, baby tub, monitors etc... we recommend www.charlestonbabysaway.com Charleston Baby's Away. They will deliver and set up any items you rent for your trip and then return to pick up after your departure. I chose this spot because of its proximity to Shem Creek and its yard because I was traveling with my dog and it did not disappoint! Such a great location, the home itself is great and the yard is large enough for a big dog to wear himself out! The kitchen is lovely and well-appointed, the beds are comfortable and the amenities fantastic. Bathroom is snug but it wasn’t a problem since I was alone. Owners couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating. I would stay there again in a heartbeat!

This house is adorable. It has a really nice backyard that was much larger than expected. Great location! You can walk to Starbucks, restaurants, shops, and a cute local bookstore. This house is also close to Isle of Palms and Shem creek. We absolutely loved our stay and the owners were so nice.

So many great things to say about this property and host! Ease of check-in and fantastic location to Mt Pleasant, downtown historic Charleston, Boone Hall, Pitt Street bridge park, Patriots Point, Sullivans Island, and Isle of Palms beaches and so many other attractions. Many choices of outstanding restaurants nearby. And the house itself is so welcoming. It truly feels like a cozy cottage when you walk in. We loved finding a small chocolate cake and wine as the welcome gift from our hosts Rebecca and Brad. And for anyone who is coffee drinker, you will so appreciate the French Roast freshly ground coffee! On the one day that it rained, we enjoyed playing dominoes from the many board games available. If we had more time, we would have used the outdoor fire pit and 2 bikes that were available to us. The beds were comfortable and house was nicely furnished and clean. Can't wait for another chance to stay again.

My family truly enjoyed this location, the property is located in a quite neighborhood with nearby stores and restaurants. Because it was so hot outside we spent a lot time at the property playing games, reading and relaxing in the shady backyard.
The host of the property put a lot of thought in the smallest of details which made us really enjoy the stay.

This property is nestled in a very quiet & safe neighborhood, and its location is perfect for visiting Sullivan's Island and historic Charleston. It was very clean and well maintained. Also, the recently updated kitchen was well done and easy to work in. Additionally, communication with Rebecca was very quick and friendly. We enjoyed our stay there very much!

The property was as advertised. We stayed in Mt Pleasant as our intention was to explore the greater Charleston area. It was an excellent location as we did not want to stay downtown but wanted easy access to activities. There was plenty of space for myself and adult daughter. The location was an easy drive to downtown, Shem Creek Area, Sullivan’s Island, Isle of Palm and Folly Beach.
This house was situated in a quiet neighborhood with a nice backyard. It was nice to arrive and find some local coffee, delicious chocolate cake and a bottle of wine. We would certainly stay here again if we needed a place to stay near downtown Charleston and surrounding area. We did rent a car so we had our own transportation.

I don’t often write reviews, and when I have, they have been short & sweet. I feel like I MUST write a review on this one. This house is everything described plus more! It was a perfect getaway trip for my husband & I (and our pooch) to celebrate his 60th birthday The neighborhood is lovely, quiet and conveniently located - so much within walking distance or just a nice area to stroll with your pup. The bicycles provided are in great condition. The backyard fire pit was so nice with lots of seating. The fenced-in yard was fantastic since we had our dog with us. The yard has a privacy fence and is secure and super private. The screened-in front porch is a lovely place to sit. The interior is beautiful, updated and laid out well. The house is very clean (which always ranks higher for me than updated - this house has both). Now for the items that tipped the scale for me…. The bed is so comfy - the linens, the mattress, the pillows (and there are 4, not 2) - it felt like a 5 star hotel. The cute tables here and there - loved those. Especially loved how the cute tables were used in the bedrooms under large mirrors giving everyone space to get ready. Hangers in the closet - awesome! Seems like every trip we take one of the first things we have to do is go buy hangers. The live plants throughout, noticed & loved. The books on Charleston - very nice. All the extras (we didn’t use all of them but I definitely appreciate the thought and availability)…. TP, paper towels, cold water jug in the fridge upon arrival, laundry detergent, dishwasher detergent, shampoo, soaps - all the things that you typically are making a store run for on day one - thoughtfully provided here. And last but not least (probably not even last, I bet I forgot some things)… a fresh little chocolate cake, bottle of wine and fresh coffee. Seriously - I didn’t want to leave! The owners were great to work with and everything was convenient as far as accessing the home. Highly recommend!! Thank you for sharing your home with us! Pat & Tina

Very comfy cottage, great location, we enjoyed restaurants at Shem Creek, Sullivan's Is, and Isle of Palms. Everything you need to enjoy your stay provided. My husband and I felt like valued guests in this cozy cottage. The owners did so many things to make us comfortable starting with a nice gift of goodies. The bedding was luxurious with nice fluffy pillows, a perfect mattress, and a warm duvet. There were charging stations for our devices, a notebook that gave us tons of information about things to do in the area, and all the equipment needed for a day at the beach including bicycles. The weather was not cooperative but when we come back, this is where we will stay. We were particularly impressed that Rebecca called to see if we had arrived. It was important to her that we keep in touch if we had questions or if something needed attention. A great stay and highly recommended.

I stayed 5 nights in this lovely duplex that was perfect for me and my dog. It was spotless, the towels and bed linens were of good quality, everything worked, there’s a huge fenced-in backyard, and parking is right outside the front door. There are no stairs, which was a big plus for my arthritic senior dog. The neighborhood was quiet, and it was just a short drive to everything, including downtown Charleston. Isle of Palms beach is beautiful, and only a 15 min drive (great place to take a dog). Mount Pleasant also has its own worthwhile sights, including Patriots Point, Memorial Waterfront Park, Boone Hall Plantation, and Shem Creek Boardwalk. I loved everything about Mt Pleasant and this rental home. The hosts thought of everything, and were very responsive and helpful. I would definitely stay here again!

We thought the home was charming and comfortable. It was a nice change for us to try one level living. It was so easy unloading and packing up at the end of the trip without going up and down stairs or an elevator like most properties. The owners have thought of everything and we had all the comforts of home and extras like the fire pit and hammock. Loved being able to use the bikes too. Thank you for an enjoyable stay! Jenny
