About this cabin rental

The Lake Superior Barn is a 4,250 sq. foot home with 4 bathrooms and accommodations to easily sleep 20 people in the 6 bedrooms and 15 beds…. lakesuperiorbarn.com. (see more here.)
It is designed to accommodate multiple families with open bathrooms and individual toilets and showers. The home is just 30 minutes east of Duluth on the sandy south shore of Lake Superior.

Lake Superior Barn rests on 320 acres of remote wilderness and a sandy beach. The home sits on the south shore of Lake Superior, staring across the lake to the North Shore cities of Duluth and Two Harbors whose lights twinkle in the distance at night. The property is completely surrounded by the Brule River State Forest so there is not another home on the Lake Superior shoreline for miles… Enjoy the secluded sandy beach or walk it like an ocean looking for beach-glass. Listen to the waves crash or swim in the cleanest of all the Great Lakes where the temperature can reach 60 or 70 degrees in the shallow, sandy bottom water. Warm up to a driftwood fire or roast s'mores on the waterfront.

Once back to the house, wash the sand off your feet in the outside shower while taking in the 180 degree view of Lake Superior. Enjoy the 1600 sq foot reclaimed deck just outside the beautiful kitchen and a pantry with all the extra ingredients and spices you may have forgotten. Build a fire with firewood provided in the stone fireplace or have a fire on the bluff watching the sun set or lay in a bean bag and pick a book to read from the stocked bookshelves in the loft. Lake Superior Barn has 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and 3 showers built from the reclaimed lumber, steel and iron nails of 7 turn of the century Minnesota barns. The game room has radiant concrete heat to warm your toes as you play ping pong, shuffle board or lounge on the couch to watch a movie or TV.... Star Link Wi-Fi is provided.
The Lake Superior Barn is a unique and rustic experience... yet there is a Roku TV and Wi-Fi to stream movies or sports, and also plenty of cards, books and boardgames!

The Lake Superior Barn sits on 320 private acres of forest, wander deer trails or swim in Haukkula Creek that flows the length of the property. Pick raspberries and wild strawberries in the summer or snowshoe the woods and trails in the winter… either way, you will never encounter another person on the private and secluded land. End the day by building a fire while overlooking Lake Superior and watch the summer sun set over the hills of Duluth.

Close to areas like the Duluth, the Apostle Islands, Bayfield and the scenic South Shore of Lake Superior... or canoe the Brule River... the Lake Superior Barn is a remote getaway from a hectic life.

Absolutely incredible family getaway! Our kids had an absolute blast, and the adults loved it just as much. We spent HOURS down on the beach rock picking. We found so many beautiful agates and even a fossil. One of our favorite parts was seeing how much the shoreline changed throughout the week. Every time we walked down to the lake it felt like we were exploring a completely different beach because the waves had reshaped it again.A few things future guests should know: the walk down to the beach is a hike. It is absolutely worth it, but it may be challenging for some guests. A couple people in our group weren’t able to make the trek, so it’s something to consider if anyone in your party has mobility limitations. For families with young kids, just be aware that the bedroom doors use slide bolts. Our two-year-old managed to lock himself in one of the bedrooms (thankfully he figured out how to unlock it after a few minutes!), but parents with little ones will want to keep an extra eye on them. The house had plenty of room for everyone in our group, with three floors and more than enough beds. We especially loved the outdoor shower. To be able to rinse off the sand before coming inside was a game changer.Evenings were magical. Sitting around the campfire and making s’mores while looking out over Lake Superior was unforgettable. Our only practical tip: bring bug spray! Otherwise, just come ready to relax, explore, and make memories. Would love to book again!

Fantastic house for a family gathering. Sits on the bluff overlooking the lake. It's built from reclaimed timber from local barns and has a rustic feel, but it's actually modern construction. 4 bedrooms for couples and two bedrooms with a bunch of bunkbeds for kids. Large kitchen looking out over the lake. There's a large game rom downstairs but we spent out time outdoors. Easy access to canoeing and kayaking on the Brule River. Close to the Apostle Islands and close enough to Duluth for a dinner in town. We kept the hot tub firebox stoked and enjoyed a dip after dinner. Although pets are allowed, the rules are fairly restrictive, so we didn't bring our dogs. Very relaxing stay. Would definitely return and highly recommend.

We were a group of 18; Seniors, teens, families with young children. Everyone had space and things to do. We saw wildlife, played on the beach. I do think that things like three levels of stairs and the distance to the beach need to be clearer in the posting as some of our group had mobility issues. The place is beautiful and very well appointed. The kitchen had everything we needed. We had an awesome time.
