Overall my experience was very good. If you’re an older couple who want somewhere to relax it is probably the perfect spot with the mountain view on one side and the valley view on the other. For someone younger the towers are a decent distance from anything like bars or karaoke and the roads that lead to town don’t have shoulders so walking is not a good idea. I know because I walked the nearly five miles to Lanterns bar for karaoke and nearly got hit once. You will definitely need a rental car to do anything. The room had a comfortable full bed with a four inch memory foam top. The add says the condo sleeps three, but unless you have a small kid to sleep on the loveseat you probably should plan on two. Despite being small the loveseat was exceedingly comfortable though. I can’t say that my experience was quiet and serene because all three days they were cutting and wood chipping trees around the condo most of the morning and afternoon, but since that was not controllable by the people I rented I just attributed it to the necessity of keeping the area pristine. I wouldn’t expect the noise to be something other people should expect on a routine basis. I also turned the A/C the entire time and kept the glass doors on the balcony open so I could have probably isolated much of the noise. If you love peacocks their everywhere around the condo. I got some amazing photos of them.

This is the 4th time my wife and I have stayed at the Makaha Valley Towers for an extended stay (3-4 weeks) and we love the Towers complex. It’s close to the beach and the balconies offer a panoramic view of the ocean, mountains and valley. The heated pool is wonderful.
However the condo we rented this time has not been updated or properly cleaned. There is mold and mildew in the tub area, the bed is very uncomfortable and the cabinetry is in disrepair. The light over the sink does not work. There are very few kitchen utensils. We were plagued with small flying bugs. We had to submit a work order to fix the AC unit that was leaking all over the bathroom ceiling and floor. The handle on the oven door is broken.
We do plan to stay again at the Towers but we will not rent this unit ever again.

The unit was quite outdated and parts of it were pretty dirty. It looked like a quick surface clean was done but it could use a good scrub. Had some issues with the water draining but we used the bathroom sink to wash dishes.
We did not re rive access code until the day we were leaving to fly it which was a little concerning.
The bed was comfortable and the pool was heated which was great. The condo board takes great care of the grounds.
The view was spectacular, best New Years fireworks viewing.
All in all I give the unit 3 stars but the complex and the view 5 stars.

Things that needed to be taken care of:
Need more light in main living area, lights too dim
Light over kitchen sink needs replaced…hardly worked at all
Need better selection of dishes and cookware, especially those that can be used in microwave
Like larger sauce pan
A non stock fry pan that is not peeling
A can opener in drawer
Soap dish in shower not big enough to hold even a small bar of soap
Although we knew we would be far from Windward side, we weren’t prepared for lack of restaurants and better shopping.’
It was relaxing but we did not stay at condo during days as we wanted activities.

Beautiful view, nice location. Condo could use updated appliances and new bed “headboard not even attached” very few dishes to cook.

Easy, simple, and just what I was looking for.

Nice location and beautiful view. Older complex and could be updated. Stairs were steep and difficult to figure out the elevators. Could not park close to the door unless you get there early.

It was super! We really appreciated and would definitely recommend! Close to the beach, and a lot of peacocks to observe :)

Overall, this place was fine with only minor inconveniences. But before you book, you should know that the property has more than a few peacocks that roam around and they are very loud and pretty much every hour of the day. You should also know that there a very few outlets and not a good place to work (if you need to work remotely).

Makaha Towers & the surrounding area is beautiful! The grounds are impeccable & staff show Aloha. You won't find a better price with that stunning view!!! Only complaint is the mattress....horrible!! Lucky we live on island & brought our pillows/mattress pad. No way we could've slept on that very, very sad spring mattress with old foam topper. The pillows are flat...bring your own. Would def stay again if a new, comfy mattress is purchased for the apartment. Otherwise perfect for our staycation!!

Worth the stay.

The host did not complete a security form for our access to the parking and was not reachable by the phone. We had to wait an hour until we received clearance from property manager.

It was a nice place to stay. Great for the money. A little noisy with the peacocks. Little far out. But beautiful views clean property. Privacy. Would stay again.

Totally out of the city. Secluded property with residents of peacocks. Great place of relaxation. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay here again!

Great location, beautiful view, just as good as the pictures show. Checking in with security was no problem at all even arriving after 10pm. They were very nice. Area and nearby town felt very safe.

The property is adequate but not exactly as pictured but the views are spectacular. The bathroom tile grout is not well maintained, needs replacing, toilet paper holder was not secured to the wall.Kitchen stove oven handle is missing and the large stove burner does not work. We did enjoy our stay because the office staff were so lovely as were the security personnel. The grounds and pool were beautifully maintained.

Check in a hassle, parking permits in particular

We enjoyed our stay at this location especially the view. The unit was clean and stocked with kitchen utensils, coffee maker, fridge, stove. The view was breathtaking! On one side you could see the mountains, and the other side the ocean. Wandering the property were friendly peacocks willing to share their beauty! I would stay/live in this location!

Beautiful property and gorgeous surroundings! Space was comfortable and clean; however, we had to go buy washcloths/dishcloths because there were none. Also, it took generally an hour and a half to drive anywhere we wanted to go. If I were looking to spend a week lounging poolside in this amazing environment with friendly neighbors, it would have been perfect! But, this being our first time in Hawaii, we wanted to tour the island and traffic on the H-1 is horrendous.

As others have mentioned, this unit is not the Marriott. Then again, remember what the rental rate is before rating this- it’s incredibly inexpensive for Oahu. I agree that the unit is outdated and need of some TLC. The bed is foam but we slept okay. The linens are adequate but have some wear. The toaster oven and regular oven could use a good cleaning. Also, adding washcloths, potholders, new sponges and extra pillowcases to the inventory would be nice. All that being said, the complex grounds are beautiful. It’s a gated community. Aside from the peacocks calling (which we enjoyed), it’s quiet and wonderful. The salt water pool and barbecue area are all nicely maintained. The lanai and views are the reason to stay here. I cannot stress enough how much we enjoyed our time on the lanai. And the beaches just north are beautiful. As others have mentioned, a lot of homeless camps have taken over the beaches along the stretch of road coming north from the airport so prepare for that. We shopped at the Tamura market and it was adequate. We did manage to find nice beaches just north of the condo. The end of the road beach is beautiful. The condo owner was sweet and accommodating although not always easy to reach. We would stay here again.

Older property but well maintained and clean. The pool is awesome. Parking is a little bit of a boondoggle but that's the case everywhere

Beautiful views, off the beaten path. Highly recommend. Wish we had reserved more nights.

The property well kept up and views were great. Bad experience over all. The condo was dirty, needs to be completely renovated. Cabinets need repaired, stove handle broken, counter greasy and sticky, closets full of stuff and could not hang up clothes, drawers full of stuff, could not get the TV to work, had to find plu ger to drain water out of tub. Besides you have to go thru miles of homeless along the beach to reach the property. I would stay away from renting this property and this area. It was like a night mare. If I could of I would of left and found another place.

The property itself was fine, location great! Amazing views! Cons, not very clean, moldy coffee filter with grinds still in coffee maker and dried coffee in pot. Tub had not been cleaned, soupy residue and scum in tub. Definitely needs a new bed-mattress, foam pad on top of mattress to soft, no mattress pad or flat top sheet on bed. I found a flat sheet in cupboard and put it on the bed. Needs new pillows also. Aside from those things we enjoyed our stay!

We had a lovely stay here for 5 nights. The condo complex has wee kept grounds, a nice large swimming pool, barbecue area and 5 minutes drive from several beautiful sandy beaches. Exceptionally helpful staff ( shout out to Dean Dole, who helped us get into the condo when we arrived) The condo itself was a bit dated but a lovely small lanai with great views.
Something that might be off putting for some people is the large homeless community on the main road before the complex. The complex itself, though, is safe with no homeless.
Another drawback that we, as seniors, found was there were accessibility problems for people with mobility issues - lots of steps
All in all, great value for money and would definitely recommend it

It took us 30 minutes just to get in the main gate of the property. The unit was old & not updated in any way. It was dirty, towels were stained & old. The shower was disgustingly molded. Every drawer was filled with “junk”. Only room for about 10 pieces of clothing in the main closet as it too was filled with stuff and we were not going to hang our clothes in the broom closet! Pillows were old & well used. Kitchen utensils & cookware were basically non existent. There were dishes but were afraid to use them. Only positive: the balcony & view.

Nice roomy place with a fantastic view.
Condo needs updating. Body wash, shampoo, conditioner not provided.

The condo was very clean, had a well-equipped kitchen and bathroom (although it lack bar soap in shower), and was well positioned in the valley. We sat on the lanai and listen to the peacocks after returning from dinner. I am someone who likes a very dark room for sleeping and always brings a roll of black tape to cover LEDs from appliances and other sources of light. There was so much light coming between the curtains and the glass next to the front door that I did not try to block it. Nevertheless, I did sleep well. It would have been nice to have Kleenex provided. I considered bring some from Honolulu but decided not to (big mistake).

Beautiful View, very secure.
Easy to rent and finding property was easy as well. Just wish the property had somewhere to get water and basic food necessities close by. Other than that it was great. We stayed here because we had family staying close by. Thank you for the great stay!

Property is located in sketchy part of the island. Neighborhood has lots of homeless camps near it. If you stay on the property is wonderful if you travel off the property it’s a bit more sketchy.

Property is as advertised but if you are looking for the Hilton you will be disappointed. It is an old building; built in the 70’s. Apartment was clean but it appears it hasn’t been updated in sometime. Complex was clean and everybody we encountered was friendly and helpful. The mattress wasn’t the best so If you have a bad back I would not recommend it. I do not believe it was mentioned in the listing but there is a 50$ cash refundable parking deposit. Pool is nicely exposed to the sun morning/afternoon then it is covered by shade. The grounds are maintained and well kept. There quite a few peacocks on the property so if you are afraid of large birds, it’s not the place for you. It is an old part of town and it looks the part; do not expect to see huge properties or buildings; it is home to lots of locals and homeless so expect sittings of homeless communities. As I mentioned before it is home to a lot of locals; if you respect them and their culture they will respect you, don’t be an idiot. It is about 60-80 minutes to Waikiki beach but I personally recommend Makaha beach; it’s not crowded and you get to watch locals surf, be sure to bring snorkel gear. If you plan on eating in stop at the Foodland grocer they have anything you could possibly need in terms of food. With all that said I would not hesitate to stay there again.
