This 100 year old cabin was well-equipped with everything we needed for our 4 night stay. We liked that it was located in a quiet setting, but still close to RMNP and Estes Park. A highlight of our stay was seeing a group of big horn sheep (a ram and 4 ewes) just a short distance from the cabin.

My family stayed here for a long weekend hiking trip. We loved this cabin. It's quaint and rustic but still offers all the modern amenities you'd need for an escape from the hustle and bustle of life. The host met us at check in and made sure any questions were answered. Allenspark is a great alternative to the much more touristy Estes Park.

We loved the isolated location and appreciated Jack welcoming us on arrival and showing us through the house and giving overview of the area. Disappointed we didn't see the moose or bears.
The two suggestions I would make - 1. send the welcome letter out a little sooner as we received it too late to adjust our packing based on the "what to bring" list. 2. While the directions to the cabin were spot on and easy to follow, Waze didn't recognize the street name. Maybe mention that GPS programs will get you to Allenspark but may not recognize the address and to just follow the written directions provided.j
Thanks again.

This cabin was exactly what we were looking for. Not completely off the grid (we had work to do) but far enough off it to enjoy nature in a beautiful little mountain town.
The cabin was decorated perfectly and very cozy. The hosts were awesome. Available quickly with responses to our questions . Jack has some really good stories to tell. Close to Estes and Rocky Mountain National Park. Good hiking trails near the cabin. Nice river to enjoy in the back. There is a natural fresh water spring right down the road from the cabin where you are free to fill up your containers, the water is cold and delicious, although the cabin water is tasty as well! We also recommend Rock Creek Tavern and Pizzeria, and for breakfast or lunch Meadow Mountain Cafe. Yummy!!!
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in this perfect cabin and will be back again. We recommend this place highly. Thank you Jack and Desra!

We were so amazed at how neat this old cabin was. It has an addition put on ,but it
Blended beautiful. The creek out back was a nice retreat. All the little rustic decorations were perfect . All very accessible. But stairs were very narrow.and a bit scary to walk up and down. Aside from that I can't find anything wrong .it's a short drive to estes.and a cute little country store literally around the corner. We stayed a week ,will definitely stay again. !!

The title explains it. The stairs to the second floor were very narrow, with the chance of hitting your head. On the lower level, the bathroom was farther away than we thought. To me, the rentals should give a drawing of the layout of the housing so the renter has a better idea of where rooms are located.
The photos always show the best portions of the property.

Lovely cabin
Serene, rustic but modern cabin in a spectacular setting. Away from crowds but convenient to Estes. Property owners were wonderful. Evenings on deck were refreshing after hiking trails in RMNP. One of my most pleasant VRBO experiences. Highly recommend for all ages. Cabin stays cool most days.

We loved the beautiful, immaculately decorated cabin. It was bigger than we expecting and we kept being surprised by all of the thoughtful, adorable touches around every corner. We felt right at home. There was tons of fun games around. It was great to hear the stream with my morning coffee on the back deck each day. Thank you for all the time and love you put into your home! It was wonderful to stay there.

Cascading Creek was a lovely place to stay and the owners were great. The location was perfect, especially if you want to get away from the busy town of Estes. We loved the pizza right down the road at Rock Creek Tavern; refilled our water bottles from the local creek; enjoyed shopping at The Old Gallery; and an amazing Horse Back Trail Ride at Meeker Stables. All of these places were mere minutes from Cascading Creek. Of course we hiked at RMNP and enjoyed that as well. The babbling creek in the back of the cabin was very relaxing and we loved the hidden trinkets all of the property that were fun to find. The owners definitely paid attention to the details. :)

We greatly enjoyed our stay. Peaceful, beautiful spot with trees and a small steam just steps away. The cabin has a highway running behind it but we honestly didn’t even notice it much.

We loved our stay! It was just the right combination of rustic and convenience. The location was amazing - 30 minutes to the national park, limited traffic, but close to a few amenities in the tiny towns of Allenspark and Ferncliff. We saw mule deer in the backyard and a bull elk with a harem just down the road. The cabin has a well-equipped kitchen. We never had an issue with water levels running low, but we also relied heavily on spring water, keeping the two kitchen jugs full for drinking and food.

This little log cabin was well equipped and comfy. We loved having our coffee outside by the little stream in the back! The owners were friendly and helpful, and they seemed to think of everything. It was the perfect, quiet respite after a busy day enjoying Estes Park activities. We definitely would give this place two thumbs up!

Our experience at Cascading Creek was better than we could have ever imagined! The aspens were in the peak of their autumn glory! Jack and Desra have created the authenticity of an historic log cabin, but with all the modern comforts and conveniences. The cabin was immaculate, and it was apparent that they had anticipated the needs of their guests, giving every attention to detail. Thank you for sharing this log cabin with us! We hope to return!

Lovely mountain cabin
The cabin is in a great location to enjoy the mountains without the crowds. It is vintage but with modern amenities. If you are looking for a 5star hotel with lots of shopping and food within walking distance this is not the place for you. If you want to enjoy nature and the mountains in a charmingly decorated cabin then this one is your place

Peaceful and enchanting
I don’t think I could have found a better cabin for my Colorado trip! Set in an historic mountain locale, this cabin offers modern amenities while remaining an authentic (and great) mountain cabin. I loved sitting in the peaceful little grove in back and listening to the little mountain brook. The woodland walk also features lovely gardens. A very tranquil and beautiful setting overall. Yet this cabin is conveniently close to interesting towns like Lyons and Estes Park. I especially like that it is just a few miles from Wild Basin, my favorite area in Rocky Mountain National Park. I also greatly enjoyed driving the Peak to Peak Highway, which I regard as one of the most scenic in America.
I hope to return next year!

Peaceful stay
Even though the cabin is between a highway and a business highway, I felt as if I was off in the deep forest. The porches and the little stream in back were perfect peaceful places to read my book and sip my coffee. We enjoyed our stay greatly!

Summer vacation in the Rocky Mountains
This cabin is everything I had hoped for in a cabin in the woods experience. The cabin was very clean and stocked with everything we could possibly need during our stay. The hosts went above and beyond to make our trip memorable. I am looking forward to coming back!

Abolutely wonderful experience! Desra thinks of everything for the cabin! It is an authentic log cabin with beautiful beams an walls. Beautiful fireplace e got to use one crisp morning. The creek happily bubbles along the back of the property while the air is filled with the scent of balsam. It was a marvelous time!!!

Restful haven!
My husband and I spent 8 nights in this cozy cabin at Ferncliff, CO. The cabin is super clean and in a great location for day trips to all the surrounding communities like Estes Park, Lyons, Boulder, Blackhawk, Grand Lake and Lake Granby. Close proximity to the Rocky Mountain National Park, Roosevelt and Arapahoe Forests. Cabin has a sweet little creek running behind it as well as a nice little picnic/exploring area. The owners are very attentive and have literally thought of everything, down to a crock pot and wine glasses. The den’s wood burning fireplace was where we ended every evening! The cabin was probably too big for a couple, but we enjoyed the space nonetheless. This would be a perfect spot to bring an adult child/grandchildren along as it’s so spacious. The only downfall I can relate about this property is the busy highway running right behind the cabin. The constant traffic is kind of a bummer when all you want to hear is the cascading creek. But it definitely shouldn’t be the end all to your consideration! I still sat out there every morning and enjoyed my coffee by the water! We would stay here again because we enjoy the semi-seclusion when we’re on vacation! It’s a beautiful place and a very well kept property!

Beautiful cabin in the woods
This cabin is absolutely wonderful! It is my quintessential idea of what a cabin should be. My daughter and I were looking for a "base camp" from which to explore RMNP and it was perfect. It is a short drive (20 minutes) to the east entrance of the park but Wild Basin is much closer. We went in to Estes Park after a Saturday morning of hiking in the park and quickly realized why we didn't stay in Estes Park. It was CRAZY crowded and busy. So happy to drive back to our quiet place! Although it was just me and my daughter, the cabin is quite roomy. It would definitely be comfortable for a large family or even 2 families (or as we discussed, a great girls retreat!) Although not "secluded", highway 7 runs behind it but is hidden by trees, it is definitely a diamond in the rough. We can't wait to go back!

Very cute cabin and wonderful host - Road noise a bit much
Desra and Jack were wonderful and the back yard with the stream running through it is so cute and would be relaxing except the highway noise from the road above the back of the property line was just way too noisy to enjoy the babbling creek. Suggest you pick a time of year that is less busy. We visited in the summer in mid-August.

Special place!
Desra & Jack have a wonderful cabin! Everything we needed and more...even frozen mugs for drinks!! A large great room is perfect for a family, as is the upstairs “bunk” room with 3 twin beds for the kiddos. Decorations are so clever in each room. All in all, highly recommended!

Awesome cabin
My family recently stayed at Cascading Creek 7/30/18-8/1/18. We loved the cabin ! It is a really cool combination of rustic but with newer amenities . The owners Jack and Desra were very helpful and made great recommendations on places to go etc. It had everything we needed. We would have stayed longer if it was available. It is an easy and scenic drive from Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. Our children loved playing by the creek, watching movies and playing board games. The pizza place in Allenspark is very good as well.
We went hiking at Wild Basin (thanks Jack) , rode horses in the mountains and went rafting on the Colorado River. We really enjoyed traveling the Trail Ridge Rd in the national park. We saw lots of wildlife (Elk, Mule Deer, Moose ) . We would love to come back in the future !
