1 mile walk from Bath yet almost isolated-10 ft tide and eagles. Perfection!!
About this house rental
Located in Woolwich, this lovely house for $547 per night is a fantastic option for your next vacation. Please read all of this to the end..... Just ask our friends, family, and renters and they will all tell you that Graywoods is the perfect house, with the perfect location (1 mile from Bath), with the perfect opportunities for you to enjoy a fabulous vacation, ANY TIME OF THE YEAR!!! The house has 5 bedrooms and 3 baths. One of the bedrooms and bathrooms is on the ground floor which is perfect for those who might have difficulty navigating stairs. 3 of the 4 bedrooms upstairs have glorious water views. The main floor is open space with a dining room table that can easily seat 14 and two "living areas" one of which has a lovely wood burning fireplace. The screened in porch and deck serve as more living space with a grill, hot tub, and comfy porch furniture for relaxation and conversation. The grounds/lawn/garden are expansive and very guest friendly. A simple tree swing has been enjoyed for many years by children of all ages. Cornball is also a lively option. Of course within a 5 mile area, one finds tennis courts, golf courses, and a vibrant YMCA. A very short walk on a forest path takes you to our dock where you will find two paddle boards, two kayaks, and a canoe. The dock comes in during the winter but "the fleet" remains always accessible. 10 foot tides provide incredible opportunities to explore our bay. Finally, Graywoods is our family house. Our kitchen is fully equipped (Viking 6 burner stove, double wall ovens, commercial ice machine, warming drawer and all the utensils and machines you could possibly use) to help you to prepare delicious meals. Don't worry about bringing spices, condiments etc as you will find most of them waiting for you. Linens and towels are all monogrammed and beautiful. There is a treasure chest of games, toys for children of all ages, and books that will offer you opportunities to relax like you haven't been able to do for many years! We have lived in many places and our furniture and art all reflect the full lives we have been privileged to lead. There is still one thing that makes Graywoods special and different from almost any other rental - OUR EAGLES Just off our deck and with no need for binoculars is our eagle's nest and it is HUGE. This year we had two babies hatched on May 1 and taking their first flight on July 4th!! Although they have left their nest, parents and babes return daily for old times' sake. What a privilege this is..... We have built a small apartment on the north side of the house and reserve the right (very, very infrequently) to use it while the house is rented. If this is a concern to you let's talk before you reserve. If you have ANY questions, just send them on or call at 207-233-9120. We care about Graywoods and rent it not just for the $$$$ but really because it is so very special that we want to share it with you particularly as we have lived in it during all four of the seasons. It rocks! Hugh and Judy

This was our fourth annual autumn trip to Graywoods. Such a wonderful home and location. Highlights included hiking at Bradbury Mountain, Morse Mountain and Popham. The eagles outdid themselves this year, always a wonder to watch. We have already reserved for next year!

Lovely rental..we have done a yearly trip for several years now and this "home" was one of the best. Plenty of bedrooms/bathrooms to meet our needs. A well equipped kitchen with the added perks of an ice machine and a wine cooler was quite a surprise. Judy and Hugh were very attentive and checked in frequently to make sure we had everything we needed. We just may do a repeat of this location.

We needed a kitchen for cooking, a big table for games, and plenty of room to spread out and we found all that and more at Graywoods! The stars at night, the breathtaking sunrises, the views, the Eagles! This family home is full of memories and we are so happy we were able to make our own here, too!

Graywoods is an all around great property. It is casual, kind of quirky and lots of fun. A great place for just relaxing but also there are plenty of good attractions in the nearby area. We highly recommend staying here. I good place for family gatherings or for shared time with friends.

This was our second stay at "Graywoods" and I hope it is not our last. The location is wonderful and the home is warm and charming. It's like being invited to stay in your best friend's home. The upgrades made since our first visit in 2017 reinforce my 5 out of 5 rating.

We've stayed here twice and each time everyone loved the house and the view. Great place for eagle watching, there's a nest on a tree 100 feet from the house. The Tilsons are incredibly accomodating and friendly, as are the neighbors! Highly recommended.

Winter wonderland
We needed a place to stay for a week as out floors were replaced/refinished at our home in downtown Bath. Staying here was such a fun experience! A miniature vacation two miles from home, hot tub every night for a week, and a lovely dinner with the owner's grandson on our last night there. Lovely!

Wonderful Stay
This is a great house in a beautiful, quiet, private location. There was plenty of room for the 4 of us to spread out and the house is very well equip for anything you might need during your stay. We loved looking at all the interesting art work and memories throughout the house as well as watching the eagles and other wildlife outside. Judy was a fantastic host and her communication was great - she made sure we had everything we needed and provided a lot of details to help us plan our trip. We visited a lot of the surrounding area including Bath, Camden, Rockland, Thomaston, Popham Beach...all of which were easy drives from this location. I would definitely recommend if you have the opportunity to stay here you take it and hope to visit again some day.

October weekend
My husband and I, along with my siblings, have just returned from a lovely weekend at Graywoods. The house and environs are just beautiful. There is beautiful and interesting art throughout the house, very comfortable beds, a well equipped kitchen and many good spaces for gathering and visiting. We enjoyed the local beaches and had fun exploring Bath, a city we have driven by on US 1 so many times without knowing it’s many charms. We also were mesmerized and entertained through the weekend by a pair ever present bald eagles… such a delight!

A great and relaxing place to stay.
We stayed at Graywoods in October and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Graywoods is an interesting and fun place to stay. The River location is perfect. It’s peaceful and calming. We found it to be a great place to relax, if that’s what you want to do.
Larger groups will find that there is plenty of space to spread our as there are several distinct gathering areas both inside and outside of the house. It is obviously a “family home” with lots of interesting artwork and memorabilia. The beds, bedding, linens, etc were first class and the owners do all that they possibly can to ensure that their guests will enjoy both the property and the area.
Overall, we had a great stay and hope to return in the future.

Maine Attraction
The owners were super friendly and did the best job of communicating with me of any of my past VRBOs and I have had good ones. The house, grounds and views wowed me, a great get away, yet close to many of the things I love about Maine. I want to come back and bring my kids.

The house is perfect.
This is a great house for a family vacation. There is a large dinning room/kitchen and living room area to hang out together. It is very welcoming and you can tell from the decorations and furniture that the house is full of many great memories. You overlook the Back River, so it is surprisingly quiet and secluded. You are in close proximity both Ried State Park and Popham Beach - two of probably the most beautiful beaches in Maine. We were there for Christmas and spent most of our time by the fire doing a jigsaw puzzle. The hoste was very thoughtful. Highly recommend.

Beautiful View - Everything You Could Possibly Need
Judy and Hugh were wonderful hosts. They communicated before and during our stay to ensure we had all the information we needed. They even gave us great dining tips. The morning view was the best part of our stay. You could feel the stress melting away.

We were looking for a place to get away for a long weekend with some friends and family (including 3 dogs!). Property was beautiful and perfect for the dogs to run around, didn't have to worry about a busy street. The house is close to grocery stores, state parks and farmers markets - and equipped to have "family dinner." We also loved how it was less touristy than the southern areas in Maine. Ultimately we will definitely be back and highly recommend to anyone else looking for a quiet get away!
