The scenery and mountain views
The staff as we never saw them including the owner, the food was terrible, it wasn't cooked properly, the bed in our room was very uncomfortable.

The location was perfect for us. Close enough to town so we could walk and do the trails we wanted and very quiet in a beautiful setting. Jill and Andrew, the hosts, are very helpful and mindful of the details in the ensuite, such as amazing sheets, towels and soaps, shampoos. Nancy the lady who serves breakfast is a delightful person and the menu has a great variety of choice. Superb! There is also a bus stop close by to any direction providing access to the towns in the Lake District. If you don’t want to walk, you can just leave your car parked and use the buses.

We found the duvet too heavy and without a top sheet we were unable to use the blanket provided.

The room (4) was excellent, the bathroom exceptional. Super breakfast.Could leave the car there and walk every where with ease; rivers, lakes, fells. Ambleside for excellent food at Lucy's and the Priest Hole.

our room was spotlessly clean. it had a proper king size bed - not two singles pushed together, best sleep ever in a hotel👍 breakfast was well cooked and tasty

The property is a wonderful idyllic building steeped with character and exactly what we were hoping for. The room was large with a wonderful extremely large bed which was so comfortable. View from room was enchanting. The bathroom was very large which housed the walk in power shower, the hot tub , his and her separate sinks and WC. Everything super clean and tidy and just the ticket got our long weekend break. Highly recommended.

Great breakfast. Hotel situated in lovely peaceful surroundings but close enough to walk comfortably Ambleside. Unexpected gift of Prosecco to celebrate New Year was a very nice touch.

The room was exceptionally clean and quiet. Breakfast was wonderful!! We made some new friends while there. An added bonus was the descriptive brochures on hikes in the area. Staff was very helpful and responsive. Thank you!!

Exceptional attention to detail, walk in to Ambleside easy, even when pitch black. Breakfast fantastic, especially because of the fresh produce. I simply cannot fault this property.

Beautiful location, an easy 10 min walk from centre of Ambleside which meant it was so peaceful and quiet at the hotel. Room was clean and spacious and the breakfast was delicious. We will definitely be back!
