Perfect als je beschikt over vervoer.

Dit verblijf heeft àlles wat het moet hebben, maar ligt nogal ver weg van het centrum. Zeker als je het traject te voet wil afleggen. In de stad gaan dineren en in het donker te voet terugkeren langs deze weg ... niet aan te raden. Zonder reservatie is er geen lunch/dinner te krijgen. Toch heeft de verantwoordelijke met alle plezier een omelet bereid voor ons.

De ligging ten opzichte van het centrum, ondanks het een uitstekend verblijf is.

Good Acommodations with an Old-School Semi-Luxury Feel

The hotel is small with <10 rooms, gated, and centrally located in Butare. Checkin was smooth and dinner was started on soon after. The room was comfortable and the shower decently hot. There was a jet tub on the premises and both indoor and outdoor dining surrounded by a garden. The omelette, toast, and coffee breakfast was delicious. It was surprisingly relaxing, having a beer under the pavilion while working on the laptop.

WiFi had some issues, ended up switching to mobile hotspot. The receiptionist was also the manager as well as the chef :-D. He prepared a delicious salad but left the main course (stewed beef and greens) a little to be desired. I'm not disappointed, just found it a little funny and don't blame the guy.

Overrated and overpriced hotel

High-quality furniture, delicious coffee and breakfast, and a beautiful garden.

Warm water was an issue. Even cold water was scarce. On booking.com, the venue was presented as a 4* hotel. However, the facilities were basic, i.e., there was not much there that you would associate with a 4* standard. In particular, there was no restaurant, no bar, no 24-hour front desk, and no pool. Also, the room lacked a fridge or mini-bar as well as a TV. While this would be totally fine in a guesthouse, the facilities did not at all match a 4* category. There were no street lights anywhere near the hotel, which is located at the end of a network of dirt roads. Thus, safety didn't seem great, especially at night.

Good hotel in Butare area.

Great little hotel with good facilities. Newer building, clean bath w hot water, kettle and tea/coffee in room, nice public areas, WiFi and breakfast incl fresh orange juice, friendly staff who were responsive after request incl accompanying to local restaurant.

Location / access off rocky unmarked roads difficult in dark, locals helped but guard at gate was busy w other things, staff didn’t offer assistance w luggage on dark garden stairs until requested.

Charming garden oasis on outskirts of Huye (Butare)

This charming garden oasis on the outskirts of Huye(Butare) was perfect for our combination of business and touring. It’s a short drive (15min) to the city center of this university town. Most of the rooms face a lovely garden courtyard, where breakfast/meals are served, either in a garden gazebo or on an open patio (covered). The food is delicious, staff is friendly and helpful. Nearby attractions include an excellent ethnographic museum and the king’s palace. Should we return to Huye for further interactions at the university hospital/medical school, we will definitely return.

Calm and beautiful hotel near Butare

The location, the beautiful garden, the excellent breakfast at the veranda, and the very nice staff. It was a pleasure to stay here.

Wifi didn't work very well, but the staff was so friendly and tried to help with extra router. Everything else was excellent.

Great staff (Alex particularly) . Peaceful, well maintained, everything needed for a stop over. Best of the local options.

Access is a little treacherous, 4x4 essential. Usual local plumbing issues but nothing to cause a problem.

I would gladly stay again

Beautifully landscaped compound with secure parking. Staff are friendly, kind, and helpful. Rooms are very clean. The bed is firm and comfortable. The location is quiet and safe, just north of tbe ethnographic museum. This is a wonderful place to stay.

The driveway is a challenge for the 2wd Rav4 that I rented. On the brick road there is a white sign for the hotel, and google maps will also tell you to turn right here.. Don't. Go to the next driveway on the right, and the hill is easier to climb. At the top, make a right, then a quick left and you are there.

A quiet heaven in very pleasant, lively Rwandan town.

By incident, we booked one night to many and realized only after the deadline for making any changes on booking.com. However, the manager was so very kind to cancel the night we did not need without any extra charges. THANK YOU. As for the place itself, it is kind of an oasis, incredibly well kept with a lovely garden and pavillions where the breakfast is served.

It would have been nice to have a screen door, so we could have kept the door of the room open (the only way to get fresh air into the room) without inviting all the mosquitos in.

Very happy we chose this hotel

Break was lovely. We were well taken care of. Would definitely stay here when in Huye again.

Power outages and unreliable Internet were slightly inconvenient but probably not the fault of property.

Should i come back to Butare, i would choose again Maison Sifa.

I have been to Butare for work, sleeping at Maison Sifa. It is positioned far from the city center, therefore the place is quiet and peaceful. To reach it, You need to walk through an amazing landscape, It gives you the idea of real Africa, and i really appreciated that. They serve only breakfast, however, upon request in the morning, they can also cook dinner for you (paying, obviously). Room are clean and every 2 days they change towel and blankets. Of particolar note, the personnel (Alexis) is exquisitely kind and gentle, a real example of cortesy.

We felt very looked after in a wonderful, serene setting. Can’t recommend enough!

Beautiful setting, lovely large room, very attentive and thoughtful staff, breakfast was delicious. Very quiet and peaceful environment, would love to return. We had left something in our room and Alexis found it and returned it to us as we were driving off, which was very kind.

Lovely, relaxing place to stay

Very modern, spacious and clean room. Helpful and friendly staff. Pretty grounds and nice outside seating areas. Good breakfast with generous sizes.

It is a little bit out of town so would have to drive to go for dinner and they don’t serve dinner.

The Hotel is a bit "of the center", but nevertheless on walking distance from the National Museum.

Comfort (bed, shower) was up to (European) standards. Good breakfast with friendly staff. Lovely garden. Relaxed atmosphere and safe environment.

The road to the hotel is an earth road. But that's not unusual in Rwanda. Plans for a decent road are "in the making". Nevertheless: taxi drivers do know the way to the hotel and they are avoiding the bumps and holes.

The location, accommodation, personnel and service was absolutely perfect. Cannot help but to recommend this place.

The only thing that was not very comfortable was the road leading to the hotel, which is really bumpy with a lot of holes and stones.

lovely place

Beautiful clean place where you can see that the staff has a favor for details. Rooms and bathrooms are super clean, the garden is pretty. We preordered our dinner before we arrived. Food was amazing! Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Guests should be aware of the fact that the road which leads to the hotel is unpaved and tricky if you don’t come with an off road vehicle. But that’s no criticism on the hotel.

Perfect, but...

Very clean place, quiet, nice garden, great service.

They charged us 16 US dollars per person for a dinner made of a salad, rice and vegetables. Nothing justifies such a high price, we paid 6 dollars anywhere else in Rwanda for a similar meal.

12 night business trip staying at Maison Sifa

The staff were extremely helpful and professional. They kept us supplied with coffee and tea while we worked into the evenings, breakfasts and dinners were excellent, and the place was beautifully clean.
