Staff were lovely and helpful, assisted with onward transport and activities, gave us water when shops closed. Room as pictured, comfortable with working aircon. Generator on from 6pm if power out which was much appreciated. Poppies delivers exactly as expected for great value.

We had a 2 night stay in Mirissa Beach. The room was basic but comfortable. The hotel is just few mins walking to the beach and it’s surrounded by shops, restaurants etc. We had a fruit platter breakfast as per request. And the wifi was good, the best we’d have in Sri Lanka. Thank you so much for your kindness to us.

Not a place to hang towels, clothes etc in the bathroom.

My money got stolen from the hotel room, there were lizards in the bathroom, dim lighting in the room, smelly towels and no light during the day and morning. No room service, no staff except the reception boy. Spiders and lizards outside the room. And the room view had a cow.

Brilliant stay! Really near the beach (just across the road down by the side of Salt hotel) but set back from the road so a bit quieter. Really really helpful reception desk and staff who helped us out with any questions we had and also helped organise a whale watching trip for us. Recommend!

The location is OK

Very old Smelly room..we paid extra 5$ to move to the family room. No Shampoo only little bar of soap. The water faucet not tightened, so you need to hold it to turn it on or off.

The location was nice, only 3 minutes away from the beach. The staff was helpfull.

Notting special, but fine room for a fine proces. The staff is very kind and helpfull. They arranged a full day jeep safari to Yala and short bird tour to Bundala.

A little bit outdated and not a great shower

The location was perfect, couple of minutes of walk from Mirissa beach. The room was clean.

There was a strong moldy smell in the room. The furniture is weirdly placed that makes it difficult to move around in the room. At least the family room was like this. I personally do not recommend this place for those who will be staying with kids. It’s suitable more for solo or couples.

The check in was easy. The stay is very good located. It’s on the main road and it can get quiet noisy especially in the evening. Loads of cars are passing the street and dogs are barking. In the bathroom are toiletries you can use and also two towels but they smelled bad.

I suppose we were the only guests during Christmas time. The rooms could have been way cleaner. On the top of the mosquito net was a thick layer of dust. impossible using the fan on the ceiling. Also the air con was not working and it got super hot during day and nighttime. It might be a common problem but you definitely should not leave any food in the room otherwise you will meet hundreds of aunts. We ask for a discount cause many things weren’t as good as announced but unfortunately they didn’t. The accommodation didn’t meet our expectations.

Location was really good.

Overall it was quite expensive for what we got compared to other similar priced hotels in the area. However, the bathroom was clean and a good size and so was the bed. We asked staff for a second pillow which they helped with. We were looking forward to getting some recommendations from them as we had read this on previous reviews, but on the two occasions we tried to ask questions about local food and beaches the receptionist wasn't able to understand us. Few silly things about the room included having a wardrobe that could lock to keep your belongings safe, but we weren't given a key. A little night light by the bed didn't have a power socket to be plugged into. Not really anywhere to put or hang much of your stuff, particularly if you're staying for a few days. Great location to get to the beach (5 min walk) and about 20min walk or few minute tuk tuk to see the sunset at Coconut Hill. The front court yard was ok, just make sure you mosi spray up! We briefly saw a loten sunbird flitter about, which was cool..if that's your thing.

We really enjoyed our stay at Poppies. It was fairly bare bones, but everything we needed. We mostly loved the location. It was just a very quick walk to the beach. Poppies also offered a lovely breakfast with a beautiful fruit plate. They also put us in contact with a spa where we had wonderful massages.

The shower didn't drain properly, but we didn't have time to mention it until we checked out, and I'm sure they were responsive in getting it back in order.

Convenient and safe location. Minimalistic hotel with decent quiet rooms. There was a Mosquito net in the room but make sure you have some repellant with you when you stay outside. Friendly and extremely helpful staff members.

Wasn't a deal breaker but there were no power outlets close to the bed in the room we stayed.
