The bathroom was very nice.
The entrance was very shocking as was the lock on the door. The pictures on the website did not reflect on the main entrance or the bedroom.

The building is very old and rather beautiful. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. We slept well.
Most of this could have been avoided if Booking.com had given more information about the property before I booked it. Our main difficulty was with the stairs - very old and 'interesting' but my wife had to go on all fours to reach our floor. The bathroom was separated from the bedroom by only a curtain, which was less private than would have been nice. No one was there when we arrived and we had to go to the tourist information to make contact with the owner and receive a code for the door.

Make sure you use +33 and don't use the 0 if you're calling. The owner is brilliant and speaks very good English. The house is amazing: old and majestic and grand. Our room overlooked the river and I've never felt so comfortable whilst getting so historically embedded. The modern conveniences have been added so all of us modern folks are not inconvenienced. I wish I lived there.
I know people struggled to call the owner to get in. Please please try the phone number without the zero and with +33 instead. He's wonderfully responsive.

An historic building with all the charm of the 16th century in an excellent location.
The stairs could be hard going for some.

Super quaint, super French, and a view of a wonderful castle and river. An ideal place to stay in a perfect location. The breakfast was an absolute treat and the people that worked there were an absolute delight.
Absolute holiday perfection for me!

Beautifully decorated. Our American guests were thrilled. Spacious kitchen and dining areas. Comfortable salon for family. Each of the five bedrooms had an en suite bathroom with toilet, wash basin and Italian shower. Coffee and tea provided. Great views of the river and Château. Convenient location in centreville. The woman providing breakfast was very kind and was able to communicate with non french speakers using phone translation and mime! Wifi worked well everywhere but was sketchy in the top floor bedrooms.
Could use better instructions on how to enter the house on arrival. No one there to greet you so you must rely on phoning someone for door code. The TV was French only channels, but on US films you could change the language to English. The stairs are ancient and uneven but sturdy enough. Beware if you are older or have young children! The Senso coffee machine needs replacing. It has a false contact with the water container, but we were able to get it to work by holding the reservoir in place. Other types of coffee machines worked fine. Countertop lightning situated under the overhead cabinets also had a faulty connection. We only discovered this and got the lights to work on the last day of our visit. Bit of a plumbing smell in the ground floor toilet and bedroom bath.

the location was fantastic and the room and facilities were great.
the wifi wasn’t working at all and the second day we had no hot water - and no answer when we asked about this

The character of the building was amazing. The kitchen cavities were very handy and the breakfast looked delicious.
The building could use better signage

Very old, but roomy and great location with free parking across the street.
Checkin was a bit dicey. Had to phone a number on the door and reached someone who didn't speak English. A passerby helped us out.

The house is beautifully decorated and I adore looking at the old fireplaces, windows and stairs. The house is just on the side of the château which was amazing!
The shower stall inside the bedroom with just curtains to cover you was a little odd to me. The place does not have any A/C but the weather was a bit too warm during our visit so the electric fan was enough.

Wonderful historical building really close to the castle and the river
No cleaning service ( only on request and it was awful), we have also to request toilet paper and shower gel. The house is wonderful but umid.

The property is an absolutely gorgeous, old 4 story house. The communal areas (kitchen, lounge, dining room) are just stunning. They've retained the old charm with exposed beams, a twisting staircase and polished wooden floors but it's been tidied up to a lovely standard with fresh paint and beautiful furniture.
Our room (Deluxe Double Room) was not what we expected as the photos on Booking.com differed to reality. We were expecting a beautiful separate bathroom and toilet, complete with an old fashioned bath and fittings. Instead, we had a modern shower unit in the corner of our bedroom with a curtain attached across the front for privacy (the shower was very good, but not what was advertised/expected). There was a separate toilet off the bedroom which was decorated nicely but small (again not what was advertised/expected). We raised this with the manager when he showed us the room but as he spoke no English, we didn't get very far. The room was nice enough but not up to the same standards and finish as the other rooms and communal areas (dusty, cobwebs on the lampshades, old and mismatched linen, dated furniture) and as it didn't have the beautiful bathroom that was advertised, I would say it's a bit overpriced.
The breakfast was nice (the coffee was especially delicious as was the freshly squeezed orange juice!) as it was served in the beautiful dining room but not worth 13 euros each.

We had a FABULOUS time at La Capitainerie. The real star is Genevieve, the wonderful lady that takes care of the VERY delicious breakfast.
Everything was great!
