STONE EDGE is a beautiful & tranquil property set in a lovely garden located in a prime position close to the Botanical Gardens, "The Mill" & Castlemaine Town. The property consists of a main cottage & two beautiful sandstone cottages "North" & "South". These two can be let out separately or together. Both cottages have super comfy king size beds & each is unique in character. The North Cottage features a luxurious spa bath in the bathroom and a gorgeous sandstone fireplace in the living room. Perfect for those cooler months. A fully equipped kitchen and gas stove makes this cottage ideal for longer stays or a foodies weekend. A large private courtyard flows from the bedroom. The South Cottage features a beautiful sandstone fireplace in the bedroom. Enjoy sitting by the fire or snuggling into bed. Relax in a huge roman style shower in the bathroom. The cosy living space has a kitchenette & outdoor courtyard to enjoy. From STONE EDGE a 20 min stroll through the renowned Botanical Gardens takes you to "The Mill Castlemaine". Wander the eclectic Vintage Bazaar, check out Platform No.5 for recycled furniture & goods, and enjoy a meal at the cafe & coffee roastery. Visit the Brewery & Taproom for an ale or cider or Boomtown Co-operative winery, or simply enjoy a gelato at "Icecream Social". Visit "The Bridge" or "The Railway" for a good local pub meal. From STONE EDGE drive into the centre of Castlemaine.... 3 minutes away.... to explore more cafes, restaurants, pubs, shops, galleries & the Restorers Barn. Alternately walk via the botanical gardens which takes around 35 minutes. There is also a fantastic information centre in town. Here you will learn about the rich history of Castlemaine & the Goldfields region & get local knowledge on the best places & towns to explore during your stay.

Very comfortable and relaxing accommodation. The hosts are welcoming and the grounds are enjoyable. The range of goodies left to welcome us was most appreciated and we felt very well looked after. Thankyou for all of your efforts in making this cottage a wonderful place to stay.

A delightful place to stay for a weekend, week or a month. Jackie and David were lovely and the cottages were beautifully presented. At 2 km from town its a short stroll through the botanical gardens to get to the city centre.

We really enjoyed our stay at Stone Edge, a country stay close to beautiful Castlemaine. The hosts were very friendly and informative. The beautifully presented cottage had all the modern amenities because it had been renovated, but it still had the feel of a cottage from the 1800s. We particularly loved the shower and spa, and fireplace with wood provided. Best of all, were the generous provisions left for breakfast, with a full-size fridge and very well equiped kitchen. We also really enjoyed seeing the kangaroos in the morning. We would love to return sometime.

We were made to feel very welcome by Jackie and David at this comfortable stone cottage on the outskirts of the town centre. It was clean and comfortable with a plentiful supply of breakfast provisions and good quality firewood. We enjoyed the open fire in the evenings which added to the lovely ambience. We also enjoyed the peaceful garden setting, visited by blue wrens and silver eyes.

Jackie & David are fantastic hosts. We originally planned our stay in 2020, but due to circumstances beyond our control (COVID19 lockdowns), and 3 reschedules, we have just had a wonderful week at Stone Cottages. Thank you to Jackie & David for being so understanding. North Cottage is beautifully presented & has everything needed for a relaxing getaway, especially the generous sized spa. Plenty of breakfast supplies, fresh fruit & veg, with a well appointed kitchen. Lovely quiet surroundings just a few minutes into town for supplies. A gorgeous fireplace with plenty of wood on hand for cozy evenings. The bed is super comfy for a great nights sleep, or an afternoon nap.
We will definitely be back for more.

This property is perfect for a getaway. Decorated in a delightful way and set up for pure relaxation. Quite in the countryside but a short drive or bike ride to Castlemaine. Hosts are very nice.

The owners have thought of everything. Great breakfast supplies and bathroom accessories, Nice heated towel rail, rain shower and plenty of hot water. 'North' cottage had a nice patio area and good access to the gardens. just outside of Castlemaine but quick access to Botanic gardens and town centre. Hosts Jackie and David were very welcoming. Would recommend

The cottage could not provide you more with an open fire, solid stone walls, a modern kitchen, a huge lux bathroom and a generous bedroom with the most comfortable bed. A breath-taking cottage set in a tranquil landscape that will quickly become a home away from home. My husband and I stayed for a week at this stunning property and enjoyed every minute. The cottage was equipt with everything you could want or need and the delightful Jackie and David ensured we never wanted for anything. Will recommend this property to anyone who will listen.

Well appointed cottage complete with large spa tub and open fire (which we used twice) and outdoor terrace. Short walk into town via the botanical gardens. David & Jackie were great hosts with good suggestions for local attractions & supplied a very generous breakfast hamper, loved our time here & will definitely return

Lovely environment
Secluded area, great for a few days to get away from it all, but still be a stone’s throw from Castlemaine. Great environment with private garden that is a fabulous place for relaxing. The cottage is stylish, impressively decorated, fabulous furnishings, comfy bed, beautiful decorator pieces, plenty of room for two, and is very well appointed. As good as the pictures show. Ceiling fans kept the rooms cool (no air con). Not for you if you want strong web access (no WiFi, and private data connection struggled). Overall, you are well looked after with food and toiletries provided. Extremely welcoming hosts who were so easy to get along with, and very informative.

My husband and I stayed here for our 25th Wedding Anniversary and we were not disappointed. It is a beautiful cottage and we loved the big spa bath. There was plenty of breakfast supplies, close to the main town of Castlemaine and we would not hesitate to recommend this property.
