Beautiful hotel with good facilities and good location
Service at front desk could be better, no pleasantries and no smile! Mould on room ceiling 2-3 metres long (not acceptable), looks like it’s been there a long time, water pressure weak and toilet flush cover comes off! Not very sound proof room/windows, we were in room 553 and the noise from outside kept us up most of the night! Breakfast was a disappointment, no fried eggs, continental breakfast had dried up and the juices and milk weren’t cold!

Lovely hotel, great decor and elegance. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. A really nice lady showed me where everything was at breakfast as it was my first visit. The room was very nice, the bed was really comfy and it was great to have a fridge in the room.

Lovely hotel with very good staff
Breakfast was very poor quality buffet style and we had to wait 20 minutes for a table. Very poor service for such a renowned hotel.

Lovely building, great Victorian architecture.
Lobby is a bit featureless in comparison to the outside.

The staff were very helpful on arrival.
There was an air con controller hanging off the wall. The electricity card holder was not properly secured. The spa did not answer phone calls, 9 times, which caused us not to be able to go into the spa on the day of arrival. There were hairs in the ‘fresh’ bed we were staying in.

It is a very beautiful building, the double rooms are very spacious and the hotel is in the heart of Manchester - main attractions within walking distance

Central location
Room 328, All the rooms around us had very creaky floorboards, which was very annoying, especially at night. absolutely terrible bathroom, black mould, cracked tiles, and loose fittings in the bath /shower area. Tram noise stopped at 01.30am and restarted at 05.30 am on Saturday morning. Checked out about 07.00am. We'd had enough!

Staff are wonderful. Rooms are lovely. Great bar area and reception
Being a historic building there is secondary glazing and a bit of road noise. Some bits could do with a tiny bit more refurbishment.

Beautiful heritage building
Because of the high ceilings it was difficult to heat but I was warm enough as the hotel provided an extra heater

Riccardo on reception was very helpful, young trainee he showed a good level of professionalism and recommended the availability of an upgrade - which I paid for. Only downside of whole experience is I rang the spa 3 times and no answer - so did not get opportunity to use

Good
When we booked in we were given 2 card passes to our room
They didn’t work
I went back downstairs and was assured by the same receptionist that they would work
They didn’t
Went back downstairs to be met with
Really !!!!
She took the cards swiped them yet again
Then I had the most surly aggressive concierge I’ve ever experienced
Of course the passes worked once he’d tried them
I travel a lot and stay in hotels 2-3 times weekly
Your staff are something different to what I’ve experienced elsewhere namely unhelpful and surly
For that reason
I cannot recommend your hotel
Facilities very good
Staff awful

Hotel ok. A little tired especially the bathrooms and halls.. could do with a little refresh to update. Room clean & an OK size for city centre.
Strange smell in the lifts and on exiting around floor 4 - drains/pool or damp??? .. stayed in room 432 - APPALLING SLEEP!!!.. a fan that sounds like a jumbo jet taking off outside our room!.. it went off all night every 5/10 minutes for about 3-5 minutes.. extremely hard to fall asleep when noisy & constantly being woken by it throughout the night!!

An absolutely beautiful hotel. Staff extremely welcoming. Also loved the Spa which we were able to use for an hour, facility included in the price of our room.
A little bit of a queue for breakfast.

The hotel is beautiful when you walk in and really does have a wow factor in the reception and the bar. The rooms also look great upon entry and have an elegant style
Honestly I was really disappointed overall with my stay here for my birthday because at the price point I was just expecting a lot more from the rooms and the service.
When we first arrived check in was fine, nothing special really and felt a little underwhelmed by the customer service (after staying in the Gotham the night before it was day and night in comparison)
We got to our room and walked in to a large very lovely room with massive windows, with a full bathroom, large tv and lovely coffee machine area. There was however an issue with the build in heating/air con unit so a portable one has been fitted to keep it warm I imagine due to the weather and the age of the building. That machine so was loud it was like a jet engine. We turned it off so we could get ready and unpack but the room became cold quickly. I called to reception to ask if we could change rooms and they were nice enough about it and told me to come downstairs to get the keys. I was expecting someone to come up to check and also take us to the new room.
I packed back up went downstairs to get the new key, we went to the new room and were extremely shocked. The room was 1/3 of the size of the previous room, just a small shower and completely different to our first room. We did not unpack and went back to reception and I apologised but asked if we could be put into the same room as before but with working aircon as the comparison of those rooms was not what I was expecting at all!
Again the staff were all nice enough and we got a new room with no issues with I appreciated. This room was a fair size but a half bath and smaller bathroom and honestly the in room heating was so loud again (this wasn’t even a portable one but the built in one) I was like I can’t go back down again they are going to think I’m so annoying so we just didn’t have the heating on when we were in the room sleeping.
The pillows were not comfortable and very small.
