We enjoyed our time at the Yellow House. The home was well stocked and cared for. Great detail was put into hosting a large group---plenty of seating areas, serving utensils/small kitchen appliances/ect. A beautiful view and we enjoyed walking the beach area. We had a group of 12 celebrating Mom's 70th birthday. This was the first time my husband's siblings have all been together for a vacation like this in 25+ years. Everyong love the house and area. We hope to come back!

Don’t hesitate and book this place. The views were amazing and the house had everything. Walking distance from local restaurants and stores. It was so clean and cozy we did not want to leave! There were seals every morning on the floating dock out front (have to get up at 5am though). We can’t wait to visit again.

The house has a very unique layout but fit our family and the backyard was beautiful for pictures. The upper and lower decks are a great place to sit and see the view of the water. It’s a quick walk to town to get coffee and ice cream too!

It was great to have so much room in the basement for the kids. I will say it smelled very musty down there. I understand that being on water means that conditions are trickier to manage, but another dehumidifier or two down there would probably help. There is one tucked way back in the laundry room but it really doesn't do much for the rest of the downstairs. The stairs going down are super steep, almost like a ladder rather than stairs. There is an outside door that goes down there so if anyone has issues with mobility and can do regular stairs, they can go out and around. The road is extremely busy and we were a bit nervous with the kids going across to go down by the water. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out, though, and we enjoyed the view and the sea lions on the raft in the early morning. There are jellyfish and crabs in the water so they were fun to watch. We were hoping to see some bioluminescence, but weren't able to stir any up from the shore. I'm guessing we maybe needed kayaks to go out on. There was a lot of food left behind from other guests, much of which was expired. There was a large box of cider packets downstairs that expired in 2019, so might be worth it for the hosts to go through all that and toss it. The little Camp beds and cubbies in the basement were perfect for the kids to each have their own space but still feel like they were all together. Overall a nice place to stay. Lots of silverware and dishes. Thanks for your hospitality!

Still the best logistical dive site in Puget Sound!

It's a charming house overlooking the Hood Canal. The views are amazing. The host was very gracious and the house was well appointed. We really enjoyed our visit!

We had a great stay at the yellow house. The beds were comfortable and there was lots of space (the basement especially was bigger than expected!). We made a small fire outside and enjoyed the hot tub after a rainy hike. The well-stocked pantry made it feel like home. And a beautiful view to top it all off!

House was clean and had plenty of beds for all 13 of us. Best experience was getting to see 3 orcas swimming in front of the house.
Everyone was nice to deal with.

This house is directly across the road from the Hood Canal. The road was busy, but we had a pretty view of the water. The house was clean and equipped with several kitchen tools and several staples such as kitchen seasonings. The house was smaller than we expected from the picture(several small rooms), but there were plenty of sleeping spaces. I

We really loved staying at the yellow house and would do it again without hesitation. At the beginning of our stay we had a little trouble figuring out how to get things to turn on and we got very low on toilet paper but all questions were eventually answered pretty quickly and when I texted the owner he was able to tell me how to access the extra toilet paper they had on site. It was a very nice house and the view was amazing. We were able to see some seals resting on the diving platform across the street through the window while we were in the house. The hot tub was great too and was used many times each day. My only complaint would be that in the information about the house I thought it said Alexa would be able to answer all our questions but that was not the case at all for any of the questions we had. I would suggest updating that book they have telling you things about the house and the area to make it clearer

Very spacious and well equipped. Clean and comfortable. Great views and places to relax. Some troubles with wifi connections. Only real problem was with the door code. Numbers on lock are in groupings that don't easily match the code we were given. Owner needs to explain that puzzle more clearly as we could not get in at first and weren't immediately able to reach anyone to exlani the mystery.

What a delightful property and experience. The house is very inviting and comfortable. I especially love the backyard area. The room themes and all of the artwork are a nice touch. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need and there is a full grocery store right up the road. If I'm ever back in the area, the yellow house will get serious consideration.

Fantastic please - well equipped!
We rent a lot of vacation homes and this was hands-down the best equipped. The layout and kitchen items made it feel like we were in our own home, we had everything we needed to enjoy ourselves. This place is dialed!

I've been staying at the "Yellow House" for a decade, give or take. As a scuba instructor, I've taken many classes up to Hoodsport for their open water weekend. Whenever it's available, we've always picked the Yellow House for our open water weekends. It is the ideal setup for a large group of divers. It has a large outbuilding with everything a group of divers may need: gear-up area, drying room, rinse shower, fresh water rinse trough for gear, etc. The water is about 100' away, across the street and down a flight of stairs. The dive park has a variety of habitats, laid out with guide ropes, but it's hit-or-miss when it comes to seeing marine life. In the past, I've seen octopus tending to her eggs, ling cod, gunnels, geoducks, grunt sculpins, moon snails, nudibranch, decorated warbonnets, and so on ... even an occasional wolf eel. But, some trips are better than others.
This particular trip was just friends and family. Half divers, half not. Everybody had a great time. The house has a lot to offer anybody, diver or not. The diving wasn't great this time. The recent heavy rains really reduced visibility and some of the bigger structures that tend to host a lot of life didn't really seem to have much. We found dens that were scattered on the outside with crab shells... so it probably has recently hosted octopus or wolf eels. But we didn't see any. Half our of group was non-divers. While some of us were blowing bubbles across the street, they were enjoying the board games, big screen TV, hot tub, and chiminea. "Town" is within walking distance, but be careful of traffic as there are no sidewalks until you get to the dive shop, two blocks north. The Mexican restaurant is always on our itinerary (the margaritas are strong, be warned). Try out the little shops a couple more blocks north or get your groceries across the street from the dive shop at the IGA.
The cost has gone up quite a bit since I started going years ago. But, if you have a group, it actually becomes economical pretty quick.
Tip: If you are a light sleeper, know that you will hear street noise in the three bedrooms. There isn't much traffic late at night or early morning, but you will hear cars and trucks as they go by. They've put white noise machines in the bedrooms, I did use one, and it helped a bit. But you may want to consider taking a bed in the basement dormitory or bringing ear plugs.

Dive in to a great stay
The seven of us had an awesome time at the Yellow house, dived the view of the water right from our window. Kitchen was very well stocked for all of our Thanksgiving preparation needs, and the location right by the little town store was perfect for any last minute grabs. 10/10 would stay again, especially if we can try the diving school that seems to be attached.

The Yellow House was a wonderful spot for my families annual Canal trip. The house was well appointed, more than enough space for everyone to hang out and sleep. I love the decorations and style of the home. A lot of love in that old house! Thanks for helping with our memories!

Had another lovely 4th of July at the Yellow House with friends and family. Plenty of room for all to spread out, from watching movies to playing games. They even allowed us to hold a small wedding on the lawn. Hate to say good things as I want to keep it a secret! Darnell is a great host and always quick to respond.

We had a great stay at "The Yellow House." There was plenty of room for everyone, comfortable beds, and a great location with beach access! We appreciated little touches like binoculars for wildlife viewing from the porch. We saw deer and a seal!
