Classic Tuscan Home with Private Garden in the Old Walled City
About this house rental
This is the rare home in Barga that is located in the old, medieval walled part of the city, yet also contains an outdoor garden and patio that looks out onto the peaceful valley -- ideal for grilling, quietly reading with a glass of wine, gardening, or just relaxing under the grape vines. The house is cozy and decorated in traditional style, yet large enough for a group of 6, with 3 large bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, and a large well-appointed kitchen. You are mere steps away from charming local cafés, fabulous restaurants, and the town's jazz club. Barga is a magical town, and a wonderful place from where to explore Italy. By car, you are a quick drive to Pisa, Florence, and the beach, and the city of Lucca is easily accessible by bus as well. However, Barga itself is home to some of the region's best restaurants, as well as many world-class musicians (the Jazz and Opera festivals are not to be missed!), so you may not want to leave the city limits! There are also many great hikes and walks that originate in Barga, so if you are looking for some extremely picturesque exercise you have also come to the right place.

We wanted a relaxing place with charm, low pace atmosphere and found it. Still, within minutes from restaurants, gelateria, cafees etc.
We truly enjoyed ourselfes in this house, with a great little garden. All facilities for a confortable stay and stone walls to keep the heat out.
Zach was also most supporting and helpful host along the way.
Highly recomended!

What more could you want?
The property was lovely & clean & so beautifully renovated & having two full bathrooms was a bonus.
We were five adults & the house with all its different seating areas was very spacious - much more so than the photos would suggest. There were two indoor eating areas but we always seemed to use the outdoor one under the beautiful grapevine with spectacular views up to Sommocolonia.
Although it was a heatwave for that time of year at 34c the house with its external and internal shutters & thick stone walls thankfully remained very cool.
The kitchen had everything & more that you could need for cooking although we only ate in for one evening as it was such a short walk to a range of great restaurants.
Overall we would highly recommend staying at the property where every need had been anticipated & provided for.

Authentic Hilltop village
Property was good quality with wonderful terrace. Short walk to half dozen good restaurants and a bar. Access only for local cars, so one needs local taxi to carry luggage inside the walls.
Wifi would have been an advantage.
Recommended.

Barga Scottish Week
Great accommodation. Three of us stayed here for one week. We each had a bedroom to ourselves and appreciated having two bathrooms. The house is located very centrally. We were attending the Barga Scottish Week and were attending classes in the old town every day so we were literally minutes from our classes which were located around the old town.
The outside patio area was perfect for having breakfast and evening drinks with beautiful scenery of the Barga hills and countryside. The owner was exceptionally helpful and accommodating.
We would love to return.

We come to Barga every few years, and this was our best view ever in Barga. It was mesmerizing. I’d get up early to watch the sun rise while reading with a cup of tea on the terrace. The apartment is charming, spacious, very nicely decorated in the Tuscan tradition, and very well stocked with everything one needs. Cooking was easy and dining on the terrace under the grape arbor was divine. We would use the sage, rosemary and bay leaves from the terrace garden. Sometimes we would cook and other times we would get take out pizza. There are a lot of books in the apartment, and you can also get free books to read at the little old red phone booth library at the bottom of the hill.
We know the village of Barga very well, and it’s as charming and friendly as you read about. The apartment is right on the ancient wall. There are many wonderful restaurants and coffee shops within a five minute walk from the apartment.
Jeremy and Zach are great hosts, too. We will definitely be back! Thank you for a wonderful stay. We left only yesterday, and I miss the apartment, terrace, and view already.

Beautiful Villa with great views!
Zach was a wonderful host! The house was exactly as pictured and everything was nice and clean. Zach was immediately available when we struggled a little to find the home (it was dark, much easier in the day time) and always replied promptly to any questions. I would definitely stay here again! Thank you Zach, and thank your brother Jeremy for all the great suggestions and recommendations!

This charming home, which was exactly as shown in the photos, was the perfect base for relaxing as well as exploring Barga Vecchia and beyond. Our group of 5 found the house to be spacious, well appointed, and highly functional, with a lovely outdoor sitting area under a grape arbor where we passed many blissful hours. Although we did not plan it, our stay coincided with a 2-week music festival that really allowed us to immerse ourselves in local culture! We did not have a car so we did not have to deal with parking, which could be challenging at times. Zach was very helpful during the planning stages of our trip, and we greatly enjoyed the hiking, restaurant, and other tips he provided. One thing to be aware of: If you need/want wifi access at the house, read the caveat about internet provision closely and come prepared with a mobil wifi unit.

We had a fantastic 10 days in Barga, a lovely old town, full of character, with many lovely restaurants. The house is also full of character, very spacious with all the modern day comforts but without taking anything away from the traditional feel of a Tuscan property. The views from the garden are breathtaking and we enjoyed breakfast under the grape vine looking out across the mountains.
We stayed in early August when it was very hot so could not take advantage of the beautiful walks. Also the house does not have air con but it didn’t get unbearably hot inside, staying surprisingly cool most of the time. This is a great base to visit Pisa, Lucca and Florence but we also found plenty to do in Barga. A car is a must but be prepared for some tricky winding roads!
Zach is a great host, very responsive to my many questions!
Highly recommended.

This was a great house. The rooms are large and airy, the kitchen was perfect and the outdoor space was wonderful.. We had coffee outside watching the sun come up over the mountains, and we had wine, watching the sun set. It's a very quick walk to town. We hiked from Barga to Sommocolonia which was truly spiritual for us. We love Barga. I would recommend this house for all and I would love to rent it again.

Ideal house for our family of 6. Lots of space and all the facilities we needed. Spent a lot of time under the shaded outdoor dining area. House stayed cool as the temperatures rose. Rustic and perfectly positioned in the old town of Barga. A few minutes walk to shops, bars and restaurants but quiet and peaceful with beautiful views from bedroom windows.
