Wonderful countryside location… I would not let my dog sleep here. I have 15 photos of severe damp, mould and rotting beams and windows… heavily and repeatedly stained ‘sofa bed’ -
Not for to sleep in.
Rotten, overwhelming damp and mildew , u clean and horrendous owner communication , she tried to call me and get me to send images not in the booking.com platform…

Character and location, size and space, comfortable bed, peace and quiet.
This is a beautiful old barn that could just have done with a few repairs, a lick of paint and a really good clean and refresh to take it to a completely different level!
There was a coating of dust on kitchen items on the worktop - understandable to a degree with all the old roof beams above. However, I looked for cleaning items but found only an empty plastic spray bottle, with attached cobwebs!, and some mouldy cloths that had clearly not been used in months!
This was our fourth stay in the general area over the last year. The previous, and cheaper, property was immaculate; a similar old building, though not thatched, with the owner providing a welcome pack of milk, butter, yogurt, bread, orange juice, coffee machine pods and fresh croissants for first breakfast! Here there was just a glass jar with some instant coffee, which had a white bloom on it so goodness knows how old it was, plus a few tea bags. Disappointing.
In the bedroom the plaster around the window surround needs urgent repair as it is crumbling with damp ingress and so the roller blind was hanging off on left side as well as broken cord mechanism. Thus to wind it up you had to carefully support it and wind up the roll itself.
I should add that the bathroom was absolutely fine. The bedroom, apart from the window issue, was fine with a comfortable bed, plenty of storage space, and hairdryer in the dresser top draw. A new carpet would be nice, also a couple of extra pillows.
The windows and secondary glazing in the main living area would benefit from a good clean as lots of cobwebs and very dirty, which is a shame as I enjoyed standing looking out at the beautiful horse and little pony in the field behind the barn.
One potential problem was the lack of communication. I texted four times and only had one quick response. The third and fourth texts were due to a power cut in majority of the property, which clearly meant something had tripped a fuse.

The Thatched Barn was situated in what most people would consider to be a country estate. Laura greeted us on arrival and told us that if there was anything at all that we needed, to just let her know. The barn is a very spacious property with everything you would need for your stay. Lovely big bathroom, with a nice deep bath, powerful overhead shower and spotlessly clean. Good size bedroom, with deep built in wardrobes offering loads of storage. WiFi wasn't the fastest, but was perfectly adequate for our needs. The view from the kitchen looks out over fields with a horse and a very amusing little pony. For any bird watchers there is quite a lot to see, including an abundance of Red Kites and Buzzards, due to the close proximity to the Chiltern Hills. I managed a nice shot of a Buzzard from the kitchen window. Oxford is just a short drive, and for the walkers, the Chilterns are nearby. The local pup in Tetsworth just a mile away offers nice meals and doubles as the village shop. All in all, a lovely peaceful country location.
We couldn't find anything not to like.

The location was very peaceful with good access to places around.
Some poorly maintained items e.g. surface of table in very bad condition and hidden under cloth, broken bedroom blind, lamp with missing bulb.

Lots of spiders and other bugs.

It was quiet and secluded, perfect for a lovely weekend away.
Laura was on hand if we needed her, and was friendly and approachable.
Nothing, it was perfect.

Very welcoming hosts.
Beautiful relaxing location.
Lovely to just sit and listen to the bird song.
Delightful to meet the resident horses, dogs and most excellent cats.
Very comfortable barn, well equipped.
Good walks in easy reach of the barn. Lots of attractions to visit without a long drive.
Nothing!

a very quaint converted barn in the farmyard of a manor. A beautiful location, quiet and with the added bonus of horses in the stables and resident cats. A generous space for two people with a good bathroom and good storage space in the bedroom. Laura was lovely.
This lovely property needs some tlc and a spruce up.
7.0
Beautiful location, lovely barn conversion with mod cons and spacious feel. Ponies and horses in the adjacent barns and the resident cats and dog. As you approach the barn, it is situated on the grounds of what appears to be a huge manor house with a bridge and moat? very beautiful!
The outside of the barn was a little messy, the roof was undergoing some repair and there were various objects littered around outside. Some random people arrived in a car in the evening to unload some stuff into one of the barns next door and a huge 4x4 turned up outside 2 or 3 times to attend to the horses, although these things were minor, it took away from the potential tranquility and peacefulness of this place, its clearly a working farm but I feel guests shouldn't be disturbed to this level especially when on a weekend break. Also in the main bedroom the blinds fell off the wall when I tried to lower them, also couldn't work out how to get the hot water running in the shower. I also didn't meet the hosts and we were never greeted at any point?

Nice and quiet place in the country site. I could practice playing guitar without disturbing anyone.
Very welcoming host.
Internet could be better but I had my own mobile internet so it didn't bothered me whatsoever.

I had minimal communication with the hosts but they were very friendly and helpful. The location was brilliant with great views and really quiet. The barn is spacious and has all the amenities. I wish I had more time to go for a walk in the wider area.
Whilst upon arrival the internet was brilliant, during work hours both wifi and 4G connections struggled, so not the most reliable if travelling for work. Overall the barn has great potential but it feels like it has been missing a bit TLC lately.

Great location with horses in the field outside the kitchen windows
Could do with curtains or blinds in the living room area.

A comfortable home from home, secluded and quiet, mimalist without being clinical
Step up to bedroom in the middle of the night, no bulb in the bedside lamp, spatula needs replacing, lack of light signage if arriving in the dark.

The house was comfortable and cozy enough. Great shower with a lot of hot water. Full equipped kitchen with all the necessary. Beautiful location with horses around!Lora welcomed us and was really helpful.
Unfortunately there was no WiFi at all, although we mentioned the problem from the first minute. We stayed for 2 nights and wifi was never fixed. Also the house was not clean enough, there was a dirty table cloth and a torn blanket on the bed.

We were self catering but milk, coffee and tea were supplied. The family were so welcoming although they were having their own traumas at the time…….thoroughly nice people.
There was a carpet that could have done with an anti slip device on the bottom. It is the one in the sitting room when you walk off the bedroom step. The only reason I mention this is because I have been asked the question!

Stunning location, friendly hosts very well appointed. Just lovely. Highly recommend.
My only suggestion is for some cushions and throws on the sofas to make it more cosy.

Nice and quiet and peaceful, good base for touring.
Very clean property.
Not much wrong with the property, tiny criticism was bed was a bit uncomfortable. Also you have to travel a fair way to find somewhere to eat.
