The service wasn’t great, in comparison to our night in Inverness that was half the price but had 5 star service

The hotel was lovely - charming, well-appointed and close to many attractions and restaurants. Holiday decor was very nice. While the building and decor were "old world", the amenities and features felt much more modern.
The room was very nice and clean, with a beautiful bathroom (heated floors, heater towel bar, VERY hot water)
The second floor bar was fantastic - great place to have a few drinks, eat a small meal, etc.
The staff was exceptional - very responsive, helpful / accommodating and personable
We stayed for four nights and opted in for the drink coupons in lieu of daily housekeeping. I wouldn't do that again. I am not sure a credit of 15 pounds per day (its pp, this was for two) in drinks is worth the feeling of a having a clean and tidy room each day.

Amazing location, good breakfast, interesting layout
Not children friendly (based on the comment of one of staff members), our suite was not sound proof meaning that we could hear every step from the upper floor and the corridor, which did not allow a good night rest.

The location was perfectly central to the old town and next to the Museum of Scotland with plenty places to eat, drink, shop and visit. The Junior Suite was spacious and the staff were very helpful in all aspects.
The bathtub next to the bed and the open shower (without walls) was rather an original concept but warmed up the whole room easily and also lack of privacy for shower. Toilet was in its own room and spacious, which was nice.

the location was excellent. The hotel has a lot of charm
It was expensive and the food was just fair.

The rooms were quite small but attractive and comfortable with good bathrooms. The restaurant for dinner was very good. the location was excellent for the university events. Breakfast was large and quite good.
The service was very varied. Some of the reception staff were very nice and accommodating but the room cleaning was poor, and one day never happened at all. Another day no one replaced the water bottles. We had agreed to not have sheets or towels changed but they said the room would be cleaned, and if we agreed to that, we would each get a free glass of wine. This was supposed to be per day, but they gave us one ticket It was only when we came to ask to have the room done that we noticed that this was to be per day, at which point the woman at the desk was quite annoyed that we had asked and that we expected the room to be done by 4 pm when we returned from being out all day.

We loved this property! It was unique, comfortable and clean. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant was wonderful! We ate all of our meals there because it was so tasty with an original menu! The atmosphere was creative and a nice mixture of old and new! would definitely stay here again! Thank you!

Staff were amazing. Kind. Allowed us to check in early, and provided a little gift on our anniversary. Room was clean, comfy, traditional, nice view, and great location to the royal mile, castle, camera obscura, dungeons, cafes, bars, shops. Would definitely stay again.

Great location and great service. Staff friendly and helpful. Liked the slightly qwerky nature of the hotel....felt quite intimate and relaxed. Loved our room with large bath.
Nothing to speak of, all good experience.

This is a great hotel with not a lot wrong. Good atmosphere, good food, great room but did upgrade.
Needs a few more plugs, such as for the kettle. Needs more draw space and towel hangers.
