Hotel Foresteria

The location to Volterra is great, being just a few minutes away. They have free parking and an Italian breakfast of hand-brewed coffee, a coronet and a juice, all included. The front desk check-in host, Andrea, was especially helpful with history of the area and things to see in the area.

This is a common grip of mine when in Italy - the shower being small. Gor us being from the USA, we're used to larger showers. The showers at the hotel are of the smaller Italian type, but still very functional and clean.

Set in the middle of nature and about a half-hour walk from the centre of Volterra, Foresteria is an oasis of peace and relaxation. The hotel has two floors plus a ground floor. The lift is large and spacious. The rooms are spacious and bright. For hot days, there are roller blinds on the large balcony window, as well as air conditioning. The bed is large, the mattress comfortable, and extra pillows and blankets are available. There is plenty of storage space, and the bathroom is spacious. The shower has only an overhead shower head, but it is flexible. Housekeeping is carried out regularly and in accordance with hygiene standards. For breakfast, there is a choice between a continental breakfast and, of course, an Italian breakfast. The hotel grounds are very spacious and pleasant. There is a large free parking available on the site. The staff are very friendly, helpful and always available when needed, with a positive attitude and a genuine willingness to assist. Good location (just a short walk into Volterra proper), a serviceable room, and very friendly and obliging staff. Usefully, the hotel had a large car park and EV charging was available onsite.

The breakfast was somewhat spartan (although that's not particularly unusual for Italy), and overall the hotel could do with a bit of modernisation. However, these are somewhat superficial complaints and did not detract from the overall enjoyment of our stay - we would absolutely stay there again.

Clean, simple room. Reception staff was very helpful when I was trying to find a laundromat and a taxi available despite it being a national holiday.

Was a bit away from the main town. Restaurant at “sister” facility wasn’t very good and the acoustics made it incredibly loud. I saw many diners requesting to be moved to an outside table to get away from then noise.
