The hotel aspect of the pub was excellent value for money It was cheap but had received a full upgrade incl walk-in rain shower.
Admittedly we were there after the restaurant had done 200? covers for Mothering Sunday. But half of the evening menu was crossed out and the 2 items we ordered were found, after a delay, not available. Web had high hopes for the next night but were again dissappointed. where was all the fish from their loudly proclaimed 'own fishing fleet'. And beef from thier own farm, only sirloin steak.

Booking and check in was easy, Room was clean and comfortable, food lovely and good value for money
Although we booked the least expensive room it was very small, might be worth upgrading. the shower was a a cubicle with a shower curtain and skirting needed replacing in the shower room.

Dinner on Sunday night was a classic roast beef which was vary good. Beer and wine also very nice.

This is a pet friendly venue / have stayed at several around the country and whilst all great places this was by far the cleanest. Whilst I own two dogs I am allergic to some breeds and often have issues when staying in pet friendly rooms. Our room was spotless ! Value - this is a great value place to stay. Good evening food and special of local caught fish.
Nothing to comment on.

Accommodation really nice and good not bad.
The staff were young and inefficient and the service was poor

Lovely location, away from the main tourist areas.clean, friendly staff
There were dogs allowed in the restaurant , which we did not think appropriate inside.

The room, although small, was very clean and quiet. Breakfast was continental and included in the price. It was basic, but adequate for our needs. Full English breakfast was available, but we didn't try that option. The bus system to Sidmouth and Exmouth was really good, especially if one has a senior citizen's bus card, Every half hour and no bother with parking charges.
I have a small appetite and the vegetarian starters were not very good at all, but on the third evening I chose a small Mac and cheese from the main menu and that was perfect.

Buffet breakfast was ok but service was very slow when items needed replenishing.
Evening meal highlighted the problems. Enough staff but obvious lack of training as a disinterest in looking after their customers. After sitting at our table waited 15 minutes before anyone approached us. Asked for some cutlery and glasses of water when our main courses were served but these never arrived. Decided that if we were to avoid cold meals we'd have to take some from an adjoining table.
Bedroom and cleanliness we're fine but service was rubbish.

Lovely location rooms clean and comfortable
Feel that full English breakfast should be included in the price as it always used to be when we have stayed previously

the bed was big and comfortable
the poo that was left in the toilet on arrival, and that they have pictures of baths in their listing, but on request of a room with a bath, after non refundable booking, they claim not to have a room with a bath on the property.

Staff great particularly Latvian lady. Pleasant and helpful. Room comfortable and clean. Breakfast really good and good choice.
Small bathroom/toilet but adequate.

Was not there long but staff was friendly and made it happen
I would have preferred a hot bacon , mushroom and toast as a breakfast not a cold breakfast as part of the deal. and Bar could have stayed open longer.

location and pub atmosphere
It really does need some TLC in the rooms bed extremely hard and uncomfortable and fumes from kitchen below are to a point we made sure we didn’t use the room whilst it was meal times.

Have stayed before in a lovely room. This one was small, the bed was very soft and worn. The shower didn’t work. Left feeling quite disappointed with the stay as it is a handy location for visiting family who live in the area.

The staff were amazing, couldn't do enough for you.
The room was comfortable, albeit with the minor issues below.
Food was excellent, although I did not have time for the cooked breakfast.
Check out was straight forward, and was only 10 minutes from where I was working.
The location is stunning.
Whilst the room was comfortable, it could be considered a little bit dated.
A few cobwebs around, but this was a minor issue and would not put me off staying again.
Breakfast was served from 8-10am, however I was asked at 8.15 whether I would like a cooked breakfast.
Having had to leave by 8.25 to ensure I arrived at my appointment on time, unfortunately I was not able to partake.
That all being said, these are all very minor issues and I would definitely stay again.
